This is the second book in the’Meet Me In…’ series and it is currently my favourite – this might be partly due to the fabulous setting in Hawaii.
With books, especially romance, I want to be completely and utterly swept away, forget reality for a bit and Meet Me In Hawaii did just that. Despite the grey and rainy weather outside my own window, I was 100% in Hawaii with Malie and I could have stayed there for a lot longer.
I’m not going to compare this too much with the first book as each girls story is so different but Malie was just wonderful and I definitely felt more of an attachment to her. Whilst she was battling with guilt from the accident and her brother, she was still strong, compassionate and a bad ass surfer babe.
Watching the romance between Malie and Todd grow was like watching your friends fall in love, although frustrating at times as you just wanted to shake sense into both of them! They really are the nicest and kindest of couples and the whole story is bursting with love not just between them but for the kids in the charity foundation she teaches to surf. Not only are we treated to a beautiful romance but the underlying story of learning to live, take chances and move on is something I think we can all relate to a little bit.
Overall this is such a wonderful story that will leave you with the biggest smile on your face and if you’re anything like me, wanting to move to Hawaii immediately and take up surfing!
Absolutely one to add to your wishlist if you’re after a swoon-worthy romance, beautiful setting and lovable characters.
I really enjoyed this book. I devoured Meet Me In London and was hoping that I'd feel the same way about this one and I'm glad I was right. Beautiful vivid images in my mind, wonderfully written, easy to follow and fast paced.
Would definitely!
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
The first book by Georgia I thoroughly enjoyed. I knew I’d love this one to.
In sunshine Hawaii, I felt like I was there too. Those gorgeous warm beaches.
Malie, one of Victoria's friends, from the previous book, works at a surf school and loves surfing. The school is where she meets Todd.
A bond is formed between the two and it seems both are scared of their pasts.
This book was about friendships, love and moving on after incidents happen in your life.
I was excited to read this book but I found it to be disappointing. I couldn’t get on board with the main characters and felt the story was far too dragged out than it needed to be. The constant back and forth between Malie and Todd led to a predictable ending.
I read the first book in this series, Meet Me In London, last year and enjoyed it enough that I wanted to read the next book in the series.
Meet Me In Hawaii grabbed my attention a lot quicker than Meet Me In London. I was hooked on the story fairly early on, assisted I think by how quickly the romance picked up within the story. There was no time wasted in building a relationship between the two leads, and both were likeable characters that I rooted for from the very start. Malie was vaguely familiar from the first book, and instantly establishes herself as a worthy leading lady with a passion and kindness that makes her instantly engaging. Todd's charm and altruism meant that within a few pages he was set up as an endearing love interest. The kids at the surf school made for the perfect background characters, both providing humour and life to Malie and Todd's fictional world and acting as a great plot device for the advancement of Malie and Todd's relationship.
The scenery and descriptions of surroundings in Meet Me In London were beautiful, at the time I put it down to the author writing about an area that was very familiar to her in real life. Meet Me In Hawaii has proved me wrong - I was immersed in the Hawaiian setting very early on in the book, with the descriptions given sparking vivid pictures in my mind of beautiful beaches, lapping waves and bustling restaurants.
I read this quickly and happily, and look forward to reading Zoe and Lily's stories in the future.
I loved Meet Me In London so I was very excited to read the second in the series and I wasn’t disappointed. This time the focus is on Victoria’s friend Malie- a girl on the run from her own demons regarding the crash and also her brother’s death and her parent’s devastation. Working in her godfather’s surf school in order to help the disadvantaged rebuild their lives, she seems to have it all worked out. However, meeting Todd Masters, the millionaire charity founder changes everything.
I loved everything about this from the amazing characters (including Nalu the surfing dog), the surfing scenes and the hot but agonising romance.
Can’t wait for Meet Me in Tahiti and Zoe’s story.
I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii; the white sand beaches, crystal blue water and lovely hot weather. So a romance book based there is always going to be high on my reading list, even more so as a sequel to Georgia Toffolo’s debut novel Meet Me In London.
Initially I was a little bit disappointed Meet Me In Hawaii didn’t follow on with Victoria and Oliver’s story from Meet Me In London, but it turns out Malie’s story was just as lovely. We were introduced to Malie briefly in Meet Me In London as one of Victoria’s best friends who moved to Hawaii to work with her godfather in his surf school, however, we learned a lot about her past but very little about her present.
Just like Victoria, Malie carries a lot of guilt following their car accident they had as teenagers, however, for Malie it is a sort of survivor guilt for walking away with no lasting injuries, made even worse by her brother’s death; which was totally separate but not that long a part. Her parents were smothering her so she moved to Hawaii, where she has an idyllic carefree life. She surfs in the mornings, teachers surf through the day then has a reputation for spending the night with surfer dudes. She likes sex and to her it doesn’t have any emotions or strings attached to it. However, when she meets Todd, a millionaire businessman in Hawaii on a charity trip, she instantly knows it would be different with him. Although neither of them are in the market for a relationship the attraction they feel to each other is undeniable.
I loved this book. An easy read with romance and sex is always a good one as far as I’m concerned; and like with Meet Me In London it was sexy in a teasing at rather than smutty. I must say, the story was very similar to the first book just with different characters in a different environment, but I guess if it works why change it? The characters were loveable, it was well paced and although I wanted to bash their heads together and tell them to sort themselves out it wasn’t TOO repetitive like some other books I’ve read.
I’m looking forward to the next instalment which will be Zoe’s tale. But I’m also hopeful it will be a bit different, maybe she doesn’t meet a rich guy but a regular guy? I don’t know. I’m intrigued how it will deal with her disability too!
Sorry, bit distracted by my anticipation and eagerness. Definitely read this book though!
I would like to thank Netgalley, Mills and Boon and Georgia Toffolo for giving me the e arc copy of this book to read.
This is the 2nd book in the series and Malie is the main character. She helps her godfather run a surf school on Hawaii. As part of their outreach programme, they take groups of children who have both mental and physical issues and use surfing as a way to help them. Todd runs a company that raises money for good causes as well as helps kids. He brings a group of children from the UK to Hawaii as a holiday but using surf lesson to aid them.
At the fundraising event he wins one to one surf lessons with Malie. There is a draw to each other that they both feel but try not to act on.
This story is one of hope not only for the children but for Malie and Todd. Malie and Todd both have events in their past that haunt them and maybe only by facing up to these events and dealing with their effects can they begin to move on. We see the growth of both characters; we are shown that the love of friends and family is important to help you with whatever you are going through.
I really enjoyed this story and look forward to the next one.
After reading Meet Me In London last summer I was keen to read the next instalment in Toff's chick-lit series which this time focused on Malie Pukui, who fled her life in Devon after a family tragedy to work as a surfing instructor in Hawaii. In the surf school, she helps those less disadvantaged than her particularly those who may have experienced loss as she has. The descriptions of her easy rapport with her clients is heartwarming and the setting of Hawaii lends itself perfectly to a summer romance, though I would have LOVED more insight into the places they visited and more world-building than simple it being a 'they went there, she said this'.
Much like the first instalment, this is a cheesy light-hearted beach read. Whilst in Hawaii she rescues Todd Masters, a philanthropist who helps young disadvantaged children, from a rip current. Todd is in Hawaii as his charitable foundation is working with the surf school to provide new opportunities for the children they care for. Surprise surprise, Malie fancies the pants off him and there's a blurring of the business meets personal line between the pair's interactions, especially after Todd finds himself in private surf lessons that he purchases at a charity auction.
There are some nice moments that reference the friends including Victoria which feature in the first book, but ultimately you don't have to have read that one to understand this one! I was surprised by the deeper themes that look at loss, death and remorse and was glad to find there wasn't a simple 'relationship + problem = problem goes away' formula to the story but instead an insightful look into self-discovery and healing. Despite these themes, it's still a pleasant and easy-read that looks at the building of trust between two lovers and there's plenty of fun moments. Surfing + sunsets + a 'will-they-won't-they' couple = perfection
*Thanks to Netgalley and Mills & Boon for the advanced copy
If you are a fan of Mills & Boon then this is for you, the characters are likeable but it does feel a it drawn out, lots of “thinking” and staring out over the horizon, it’s an easy read that you don’t have to think too much about.
Take it to the poolside and relax
This was a cute read and definitely an improvement in writing than the first book. It had a more contemporary edge to it and flowed better I felt. It was a nice story and I did like that if you had read the first book you got some of the references more and understood the characters.
I was very excited to get an e-arc of this one as I loved Georgia’s first book Meet Me In London. Meet Me In Hawaii was just as good. It’s set where Meet Me In London ends, but carries on with Malie, who was a best friend to Victoria, the main character in the first book.
I liked Malie, I loved her lifestyle. How nice would it be to wake up and wander down to the sea, practise your favourite thing; surfing, then spend the rest oft he day teaching this to others. The descriptions of the surroundings were so lovely, and it made me feel all warm and sunny reading this.
I think I liked Tod better than I liked the guy in the first book (Oliver), he seems sweet. He’s kind and cares about the kids he works with. I also quite liked Malie’s godfather, and could picture him perfectly.
The story kind of reminded me of the first one, girl meets rich boy and falls in love, but what’s wrong with that! We all need a lovely easy bit of romance don’t we.
It does mention spoilers from the first book so make sure you have read that one before picking this one up. I hope because of the way it was written about another of the friends, that Georgia carries this on and writes each of the next ones about each of the other 2 friends.
Thank you to Mills and Boon, Netgalley, and as always, the author Georgia Toffolo.
Thank you to NetGalley and Mills &Boon for an advance copy. I loved Georgia Toffolo's first book so I couldn't wait to read this. I wasn't disappointed!
This is a romantic heart warming read. Malie Pukui doesn't believe in a 'happy ever after" and in some parts I wanted to shout aloud at her - but the other Lost Hour girls brought a smile to my face.
The book is set in Hawaii and this adds to the dreamy backdrop where heart throb Todd turns up. He has worked hard to improve the lives of disadvantaged children through his own charity but ends up having to be rescued himself by Malie.
This book is a perfect feel good read featuring surfing, sunset and much needed romance and heart warming moments.
This is the second book I have read in 2021 and I flew through it. The characters are relatable and I hope we get to hear Zoe and Lil's stories in future books please!
Meet me in Hawaii is the second book by Georgia Toffolo and picks up with the same characters but this time it is telling Malie's story. I haven't read the first book and you don't need to before reading this however I will definitely be catching up with it now.
Malie has run from her family to the glorious beaches of Hawaii where she runs a surf school with her uncle, when she gets the chance to work with some troubled kids from back home she meets Todd who owns the charity involved. Malie and Todd are instantly attracted to each other but Malie fights it every step of the way.
Meet me in Hawaii is the perfect Summer read, it has everything you want in an easy to read and enjoyable book and one in which you will struggle to put down!
The second book of the series and I do hope there will be more. Great writing, wonderful characters both those from book one and new ones. Following Malie, who is living in Hawaii teaching at a surf school with a program for disadvantaged children, the book goes from a chance meeting to a video call of the 4 friends and lots in between. Not wanting to give the story away I can say although some of it is predictable much isn’t and the link back to the friends from book one is great. I do hope there will be more books on the other 2 friends? Thanks Georgia Toffolo and NetGalley
A well written romantic novel. A fairly typical romance with two likeable characters who are destined to be together but stay apart though many misunderstandings. Set in Hawaii with a happy ever after ending. What more so you need!
Thank you to NetGalley and Mills and Boon for the advance copy of this book.
The epitome of gushy romance novel, all the feels of a chance meeting with a beautiful man Malie is all swoon and Tom the big boss of a charity is equally as bowled over by Malie.
The perfect summer read for romance and ANTICIPATION. Toffolo brings the surfing beaches of Hawaii in a romance story with all the cheese needed to get you wondering and eager with anticipation.

This is the second book in the ‘Meet me in’ series, I absolutely loved London so was very excited to read Hawaii and it has not disappointed one bit.
These stories aren’t your usual Mills and Boon Romance. The Lost Hour girls have been through so much together but their friendship never falters. Malie, Lily, Zoe and Victoria are the friends every girl wants. They each have their own demons and it’s refreshing to read about them as they battle those, and also find their Happily Ever After.
Georgia Toffolo has really worked out what is going to make a great series of books, and I have no fear that this book will smash the charts when it is released in March.
My favourite character in this one had to be Nalu 🐶
I am looking forward to the third book already!
Thank you Georgia Toffolo for another amazing book. Malie is so likeable and you have to love a story set in Hawaii. Dreamy Todd, who is bowled away by Malie and her talent as a surf teacher could be the one to make Malie have faith again in a happy ever after. Whose broken heart will be healed first? A feel good story that will warm your heart. Can't wait for the next one.
Malie Pukui doesn’t believe in happy ever after. After a tragedy caused her to flee her family and friends in Devon she found a fresh start in Hawaii. Here, working at a surf school, she can give back to those in need and try to overcome the greatest loss in her life. Moved around foster homes throughout his childhood, Todd Masters has worked hard to be able to offer a brighter future to young disadvantaged children. Now he has his own charitable foundation working with a surf school in Hawaii, a job he loves, but he still can’t put his past behind him. When Malie rescues Todd from the sea a spark ignites between them, and the two wounded souls find a common ground. But amidst the surf, sunsets and sizzling kisses, can Malie let go of her past and risk something she’d locked away forever, her heart?
I thoroughly enjoyed Toffolo's first book and was looking forward to reading this. I loved that this was set in Hawaii, I definitely appreciated being whisked away to a hot, tropical location whilst in reality it was snowing outside. I also liked the surfing aspect and I did enjoy Malie as a character. For me, where this differed from the first book is with the characters. Toffolo has written about the same group of friends and just focuses on a different central character; Malie. Whilst this is great and meant I could catch up with established characters, they were not altogether due to Malie living in Hawaii and it was definitely suffering from the absence of other characters and friends. This very firmly focuses around Malie and Todd which could have been great, however I did not feel I ever got to know Todd very well and he does not feel particularly established.
The plot is enjoyable and there are moments of hilarity alongside more serious, emotional moments. However, I found it a bit dull overall and I found myself losing interest halfway through. I think it was all a little too nice and too predictable and needed a twist to give it another edge. I also thought this ended too abruptly, just when it felt like there were developments and moments of intrigue, the book ended which was a real shame.
This is not my favourite read but it is still enjoyable and for the most part I was entertained. The aspect I liked the most does have to be the warm location of Hawaii.
Thank you to NetGalley and Mills & Boon for an advance copy.
