Meet me in Hawaii - Georgia Toffolo
A well paced romance with likeable characters and depth to their back stories, very enjoyable. I had not read the debut book but this is not necessary to read this one. I enjoyed the girls friendships within the book and also the strength that they all show. A super light quick read to lose yourself in, perfect for fans of this genre. Many thanks to NetGalley and Mills & Boon for allowing me the chance to read and review this book
Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy of this book. It was great to catch up with the characters of the previous book in the series Meet me in London and find out more about the individual characters in the friendship group. I enjoyed reading Malie’s story and I enjoyed the setting of Hawaii. Even though it is a sequel to Meet Me in London I don’t think you need to read that one before reading Meet Me in Hawaii. However knowing the characters might make you enjoy it more. I did enjoy this book but felt like I enjoyed Meet Me in London more. I’m hoping there’s another book about Zoe or Lils.
I enjoyed this book and I did really like it but it didn’t quite have the wow factor that meet me in London had for me. Still a good, entertaining and enjoyable read though
Such a lovely, gently book with great friendships and romantic flourishes. It is a proper heartwarming story that makes you laugh and smile.
Toffolo makes both Oliver and Victoria likeable and relatable characters and you are on their side all the way through the story, egging them on and wanting to rush through the book to get to the happy ending.
The book is well written in an easy almost conversational style and it was a joy to read.
I really enjoyed the first book in the ‘meet me’ series, so I was excited to read this. It was a sweet easy read about two broken people who want to let themselves love each other but are very tentative. This is one of those books you can pick up and it takes little concentration but is still engaging. I would recommend for when you want something light and fluffy. If more books in the series are released, I will certainly read them.
Thank you to Georgia Toffolo and Netgalley for the advanced review copy of Meet Me in Hawaii. I absolutely loved the first book Meet Me In London and I have to say I adored this book just as much! Swapping snow for sun and London for Hawaii, this beach read made me want to get out into the waves and sit watching the sunset with sea salt in my hair. I loved this book and Malie’s strength of character but also her vulnerability. The parallels between herself and Tara were wonderful to uncover and I always love the interactions between the four friends who remind me of my friendship group. Would definitely recommend!
Having read the first book and fell in love with the characters it was a delight to return to the series that tells Malies story. She's a keen surfer and is instantly involved in rescuing Todd from the sea who has got into trouble trying to rescue a dog, which turned out to be in no trouble whatsoever. Their eyes lock and there is an insta-atrraction.
Absolutely adorable to read and such a feel good, perfect escape book. We saw a glimpse of Malie in book one so it was nice to look at her life through her eyes. Loved the location and loved the characters. It gave me a much needed uplifting, cozy, hug in a book feeling. Can't wait for book 3
A. . lovely love story. Set in a beautiful place . I loved the surf part. . Both the main characters had a lot of baggage to sort out and I am glad they did. Malie sounded lots of fun and very beautiful when she dressed up..Her girlfriends were brilliant. The kind of read that left you happy
I loved this one as much as her debut novel! Georgia Toffolo has done well. The story has all that you need love, friendship and loss. Loved the beautiful setting of the beach and the sea. Beautiful book.
I read Meet Me in London as an ARC and really enjoyed it, so was thrilled to get this one too. It builds upon the characters introduced, but can be read as a standalone.
Yes, it’s predictable and nothing particularly new, but it’s a lovely story and no effort to read. Decently written and paced well - a good solid read for fans of the genre.
Incidentally, I had no idea who the author was until a friend did an Instagram post the other day. To be honest, I still don’t really have a clue, something to do with one of those jungle type programmes - but she’s a good writer, so that’s good enough for me!
Having read Georgia’s first book ‘Meet Me in London’, I was looking forward to reading this one and wasn’t disappointed, especially as several characters from the previous book are mentioned.
Set in beautiful Hawaii, Malie is working for a surf club after a tragedy makes her decide to leave her home in Cornwall. On the beach while surfing, she spots a stranger experiencing difficulties and goes to his rescue. And this is the beginning of an engaging light-hearted romance, in which neither character wishes to become seriously involved.
Maile is a warm, caring woman who wants to make a difference to people’s life. She also has a bubbly and feisty side which makes her a more interesting character.
The book is told from two viewpoints – Mailie and Todd, the man whom she rescued, which gives a more rounded picture. Although it is a light-hearted romance, serious issues are explored, such as estrangement within families, which both main characters have experienced. They both connect in their work to help disadvantaged children overcome difficult childhoods.
With a beautiful Hawaiian backdrop, romance and laughter, this is another entertaining read from Toff.
Second book by Toff and not disappointed. It’s a wonderful story of love, loss, heartbreak, and longing. All set in a wonderful setting with deep blue seas and luscious sunrise and sunsets. Just what you need to read in these horrible times
Another brilliant book by Georgia Toffolo!
Malie and Todd both lead exceptionally different lives but can a chance meeting between them help each other learn to do what makes them happy, learn to confront their personal issues and can it develop into something more?
I loved this book, I especially loved Malie's relationship with her friends and the Lost Girls phone call. I hope we get to hear Zoe and Lil's stories and maybe get an update on Malie and Todd in future books.
The main thing I loved about this book is that it was described so well that alot of the moments you felt you were there for, actually stood on the beach watching Malie surf for example.
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read and review an early copy of this brilliant book!
Another fantastic read from Toff!! She writes such wonderful books and her storytelling is magnificent!! I am so pleased that she’s writing fiction
I can’t get enough of Toff’s books. I loved Meet me in London and this is just as exciting and I can’t put it down. I can’t wait to hear about the other girls’ lives as well
Meet me in Hawaii follows on from Georgia Toffolo's first book Meet Me in London. This time focusing on Malie while she works at her uncle's surf school in Hawaii.
This book captures the feeling of Hawaii from the very start. The romance aspect starts soon afterwards. Malie comes across as a lovely person, despite her pain, and her rapport with the underprivileged kids that she teaches is evident.
You don't need to have read Meet me in London first as the background is covered, but I recommend that you do. I believe this book opens up a series and we will soon be reading about Lily and Zoe, the other two friends from the group.
I felt that unlike the first book, this is more what I'd expect from a modern day Mills and Boon. It's more romantic and swoon-worthy. It's a pleasant easy read that's worth a go if you're not looking for anything too taxing and want to escape to Hawaii.
3.5 stars
Set in romantic Hawaii, you would think there would be no barriers to a love affair between Malie and Todd, but both have issues from their past lives. Predictable, but totally enjoyable, a lovely book to read on a cold winter's day or on the beach - Hawaii or not.
Very similar to her other book. Set in beautiful Hawaii not much else to say about it. Malie helps run a surf school which helps disadvantaged children
Having read Victoria’s story, I was very keen to read Malie’s and it did not disappoint. Set in Hawaii (which made me feel as if I was away) it was a really beautiful story and the characters were deeper and more interesting I felt. A really good escapism read!
This is the second book by Georgia Toffolo and a lovely read.
Malie works as a surf instructor for a charity that helps people owned by the gorgeous Todd.
Malie realises she is falling for Todd but can't let herself due to the accident that killed her brother and the fallout with her parents.
Todd is also falling for Malie but he has his own demons.
This can be read as a stand alone but there are some references to the first book as Malie is best friends with Victoria, Zoe and Lils.
I loved that it was set in Hawaii as we could all do with a bit of sunshine at the moment and I could imagine myself on the beach watching the sunrise and sunsets.
Thank you to Netgalley and Mills and Boon for the ARC
