Wanted to like this book, but the references are dated, not even relevant to today most of the time - and the bigotry in there at times turned me off. I get it that it's another generation, a different way of looking at life - yet that doesn't mean a reader has to condone it. The offhand observations about race and 'other' people were hard to swallow at times, which didn't make for the fun read this is purported to be, unfortunately
