I loved the thought provoking quotes colourfully scattered throughout. Reading this book is a cross between having a deep and meaningful conversation with your best friend and engaging in a course in Mindfulness. Lots of interesting ideas to make a positive out of most situations. I had an electronic copy but I’m sure the ample space within the pages would allow you to benefit from scribing your personal thoughts and turning your half empty cup into your half full cup.
Another book I wanted to read because I felt it could actually help me at this point in life.
And I'm glad I did, I really liked it!
It's all about gratitude, how to be more mindful of the good things life brings you everyday, how to stay present and live in the moment.
There are exercises and prompts you can use to train your brain to be more grateful and I am definitely going to take them into account and practice it.
I just wish I had a physical copy of the book. The graphic is amazing and there are pages you can actually use as a journal and workbook if you get the hard copy.
Really recommended if you are looking for some non-fiction.
This was a wonderful & well-written guide/companion to practice gratitude or begin working on bringing more gratitude into your life.
For me, the idea of acknowledging ‘mystery’ was powerful. Like many parts of this guide, there are helpful and easy to implement tips. Learning to enjoy fullness, acknowledge emotions, & listening to your body and mind intently are some of the beautiful things I’ve learned or have been reminded of in this guide.
I would definitely want my own physical copy eventually! An ebook did not do this guide justice!
this book helps you to review yourself and what you are grateful for on a daily basis. Don't forget.... be grateful for even the little things.
The Gratitude Workbook is a series of prompts designed to help you be more grateful which is something i needed in my life so this book was very much needed. It's perfect for people who want to incorporate more gratitude in their life
I love this book! I think coming out of a tumultuous year, this is the book we all need right now. I loved the prompts to really dig into yourself to realize everything we should be grateful for and especially for those things that we often overlook. I've been meditating for a couple of years now, so I appreciated the integration of meditation into this practice as well.
I do think this would be better used in physical book form as opposed to e-book, but that's my personal preference with books like this.
Thank you NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the ARC of this book in exchange for my review.
I really enjoyed this book. It was colourful, well put together and great fun to use. It is thorough, but is written in a way that doesn’t overwhelm the reader. Although I loved this book, I’m not sure it works as an ebook (I used a notebook alongside it) and will be buying a hard copy. I’d recommend this to anyone who needs to slow down and work on their own mental health and well-being.
I haven't done all the exercises in this book yet but it definitely looks promising. Just don't know if an ebook is the best format to use and explore this workbook.
This is the book that we need now, when there is an absolute need to be grateful for everything we have, have a positive outlook for future and survive this pandemic. The book is a beautiful journal filled with loads of prompts, great quotes with colorful illustrations and little star stickers to track your progress. What more can you ask for? I would definitely recommend this book for your bed side table and encourage you to use it as often as you can.
Loved the gorgeous illustrated quote pages and the stars or gratitude throughout. It felt very natural to journal through the prompts and self reflect. Will be buying printed copies to share with friends!
Was great I love workbooks and learn so much about my self using them. I think this would make a great gift.
A comprehensive and thought-provoking guided gratitude workbook which includes a number of inspirational quotes from a range of sources, together with many practical exercises, meditations and reflections. The process encourages us to take moments throughout the day to reflect and is divided into three sections: become present; seek perspective; awaken possibility. Each section contains numerous questions and prompts. As well as plenty of space to record your thoughts and journal your progress, the book also contains sheets of stickers, inspirational quotes, bookmarks, postcards, affirmation cards and conversation starters. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to improve their sense of wellbeing.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I think having interactive self-help books is the way to go. Especially with something like gratitude practice, which is so simple in theory but often challenging to maintain. The Gratitude Explorer had a lot of great prompts to help reframe your thoughts. This is not something that should be read straight through, it is useful to have time to simmer on the questions and try out different suggestions. I think the physical copy would be even better, with the postcards, stickers, and other items - and it would also be easier to view the watercolors.
I ended up highlighting what basically felt like half the book. I especially liked the section regarding figuring out your core values, and using them to guide your actions and thoughts. And also fully acknowledging well-rounded emotions, and allowing yourself to be grateful even when not feeling great (holding wellness and illness, challenge and ease, vulnerability and gratefulness, simultaneously). I am looking forward to going back through and reflecting on different sections.

The Gratitude Explorer workbook. Guided practices, Meditations & Relections for cultivating Gratefulness in your daily life by Kristi Nelson.
There is significant research on the mental and physical health benefits of gratitude. Just do a quick google search and numerous articles and research reinforces the benefits especially in times of stress and difficulty. It allows us to appreciate what matters most.
As an example, I read an article this week about its benefits:
Robert Emmons, professor of psychology at UC Davis, says the best medicine for mental health is a regular practice of gratitude. “It is precisely during difficult times where gratitude achieves its maximal power,” said Emmons, who is a world-recognized expert on the science of gratitude. “In the face of demoralization, gratitude has the power to energize. In the face of brokenness, gratitude has the power to heal. In the face of despair, gratitude has the power to bring hope.”
There are 3 sections to the book with numerous questions/prompts. This is indeed a workbook where you can record your responses.
Part 1: Become present “presence allows you to be alert to the wonder and fullness of your life and opens you to perspective” A couple of questions from this section
How can I honour the preciousness of this day?
How would I connect with my loved ones if I knew this was our last day together?
Part 2: Seek Perspective “ perspective expands your experience of life allowing/or greater appreciation of the opportunities available to you and opens you to possibility.
What are some of the extraordinary aspects of my life that I tend to overlook?
What difficult emotions & situations have I learned from?
Part 3: Awaken Possibility “possibility enlivens the moment at hand and animates your imagination and energy for what can be”
What are my guiding values and principles?
How can I live in greater alignment?
At the end of the workbook is an appendix with additional helpful tools and information.
The author Kristie Nelson, has also written a book called, Wake Up Grateful.
This workbook was more than I expected and in my opinion extremely thought provoking and beneficial in helping me focus on what matters most. And it’s especially poignant given our 2020 and 2021. I could have used this workbook last year! I’m always looking for special gifts for friends and this will be a workbook I’ll be buying for them and myself.
Thank you to Netgallery for the ARC.
The Gratitude Explorer Workbook was so much fun to do that I'm seriously considering buying a hard copy when it comes out. Since I had an e-ARC, thanks to Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, I used a notebook to work through the book. The book is laid out in three sections: becoming present, seeking perspective, and awakening possibility. Each section has prompts, questions, journaling sections, and gorgeous artwork of encouraging quotes to get your introspective mental juices flowing. For instance, there is work to do on focusing on your gratitude for the day, what your values are, how to do better at loving others, and more. All of these things would be great for a yearly reflection/re-inspiration when you are feeling down. For me, it came at a great time, when I was feeling overwhelmed and stressed. It helped me to slow down and take time to think about my life, rather than rush through and forget all the good things that I might have let pass me by.
If you enjoy self-help books, especially workbooks that you can work through yourself with pages for you to write in, and like challenging yourself to be more present and thoughtful about your own self, then this book is for you!
Thanks again to Netgalley and Storey Publishing!
This book takes an empathetic approach and gives bite size approaches and allows you to have kindness and patience with yourself when dealing with life. This is so necessary for everyone to read in life. Highly recommend. Especially loved the reflection to true life to humanize my feelings and relate. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I am reading this book as an ebook, but of course, being a workbook, it would be most useful on paper as a tool you can actually use to exercise the prompts the author suggests. I took so many notes and immediately put this book to good use practicing many of the prompts suggested and reflecting on some illuminating quotes.
In this book you will find different sections that focus on different aspects of gratitude - and you would be amazed by how many smart ways you can experience gratitude in your daily life! This workbook helps you to discover how you can be grateful everyday both in the spiritual sense of the word and in a very practical sense.
Highly recommended if you are interested in improving yourself and you wellbeing
I truly enjoyed this workbook and cannot wait to get a real copy so I can use the stars and enjoy the artwork better. In a short period of time, this workbook opened my eyes to a lot of things that I was overlooking. I thought I lived a pretty grateful life before but now it's even better. Two of the exercises that I really liked were thinking of grateful things when you wake up AND when you go to bed - I never did the one before bed. I also really liked how you would "greet" your feelings, accept them, and watch them move on. I would know that I was angry, sad, etc., but I never took the time to sit with my feelings like I do now. I definitely recommend this book for anyone looking to add gratitude into their lives, even if they think they already practice it!

I thoroughly enjoyed working through this book and experiencing it. The presentation of the activities and the beautiful watercolor pages with thought-provoking quotes are a key highlight.
It presents as a very easy-to-follow self-help book on gratitude and learning to be present. This book is different from others in that instead of a lot of advice and no practical applications, there are more interactive or do-it-yourself applications with just enough advice and guidance to balance it out.
It would obviously be better as a physical copy so I highly suggest you pick up a copy when it is available.
Most times, individuals don’t take the time to stop and look around at the beauty that surrounds them. To just be present to the experiences and to be GRATEFUL. This workbook is the stepping stone to that. Showing ways to guide your heart and mind through exercises, brief meditations, and positive statements. So with that being said, to fully get the best experience, a physical copy would be needed.
The workbook is visually beautiful and adorned by quotes that are thought provoking. However, falls short with repetitiveness;which could hinder how committed someone might be to completing it. For myself, I do believe this workbook fosters growth. So I would recommend anyone looking for ways to incorporate consistency and gratitude into their life to get it.
