This delightful picture book has been a much cherished one in the classroom. The colour palatte is utterly charming, and we love the celebration of the relationship between a young boy and his grandpa.

This is a gentle, effective story about finding beauty and wonder in unexpected places. It's also about a grandfather helping his grandson adapt to his new home in a city, perfectly captured through the illustrations which gradually show the colour and magic emerge as the boy start to see the city through his grandfathers eyes. It's very well done and gets it's message across in a positive way. I really liked this.

This is a lovely heart warming story with the message that beauty can be found everywhere in the world.
A young boy is struggling to adjust to life in the big city and finding it all very overwhelming.
The boy's Grandad takes him to a little shop with lots of old bits and pieces stored in boxes. It is here that the little boy discovers a beautiful rock. After this he starts to look more carefully and starts to love the environment around him.
The illustrations in this story are fantastic and really bring the story to life.
It's always nice to find stories that portray the lovely relationship between a grandparent and a chikd. This would be a lovely book to share together and a great addition to any child's bookshelf. Such an important message for children to learn. They can find magic and adventure all around them. They just have to look!

A delight to read and illustrated with such tenderness. A young boy is in an unfamiliar area but with the help of his reassuring and imaginative grandpa he starts to see the beauty around and feel a part of the city.

What a gift!!! I love this beautiful book. I enjoy the illustrations and the colour palette. The characters are nicely developed and drawn. It helped me to realise that I don’t see enough of the city I live in. Lovely message and story, great work!

Beautifully illustrated with a great use of colour, this is a gorgeous picture book which has a place in all classrooms! Gentle prose takes us on a journey with Grandpa to a charity shop, where we find an unexpected treasure and this teaches us to look for beauty in the most mundane of places.

A lovely book with a great message about finding the beauty and magic in the everyday. My 5 year old would have liked more to happen in the story so probably better suited for younger children (around 4 and under). Gorgeous illustrations!
