What a wonderful resource for people to have! This has a plethora of helpful information. The book is laid out in a fabulous, easy to read way. I loved all of the tips and tricks! I wish it contained more recipes, but this will be a handy tool for anyone wanting to learn more about anti-inflammatory foods. My thanks to the publisher for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review!

The Complete Guide to Anti-Inflammatory Foods: To Boost Your Health and Immune System is more handbook than cookbook. The majority of the book lists different foods, grouped by type such as vegetables, fruits, grains, soy, and so forth. Each food has a list of its benefits, tips for adding into a healthy diet, nutritional facts, and how best to use in finished dishes. The lack of organization within each section is a problem, as it is difficult to find individual foods unless you look at the table of contents. A simple solution would be to alphabetize within each section, making this a more usable primer for anti-inflammatory foods.

There is a good glossary of terms, as well as an introduction to antioxidant rich foods. The author includes an overview of the term inflammatory and a listing of common inflammatory diseases. Different diets are explained and information is given as to how best to incorporate anti-inflammatory foods into each.

The final section has recipes, though there are less than twenty pages of them. The recipes are separated into Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Snacks. This is the most disappointing part of the book because there are precious few examples of how to incorporate the foods in this book into a healthy diet. Overall, someone looking to incorporate anti-inflammatory foods into their diet might like this guide, but I am hesitant to recommend as the author does not go far enough to direct readers into a new lifestyle choice.

Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy by NetGalley and the publisher, Chartwell Books. The decision to read and review The Complete Guide to Anti-Inflammatory Foods: To Boost Your Health and Immune System was entirely my own.

A lot of helpful information to help with inflammation. I do wish there were more recipes included bc the ones that are in there are things I would never have thought to make!

A brilliant reference tool detailing both the benefits and the properties of the top anti-inflammatory foods with tips of how to incorporate them into your diet.

I would have like a couple more recipe ideas at the end of the book however I would definitely recommend this as a stable for the kitchen.

I was really looking forward to this title, as my husband has a medical condition that anti-inflammatory diets are helpful for. However, unfortunately this was archived shortly after approval & I was unable to download this title in order to write a review.

Thorough guide on anti-inflammatory foods. I had hoped for a couple more recipes, but all in all it contained so many new things and information to bear in mind.

I am certainly no expert on the subject, but I've been having some stomach issues in the past year or so, and I've been looking for some advice or useful information wherever I could find them. That's why I picked up this book. Also, there's just pure curiosity. I love trying out new recipes and if it's healthy, even better! It's always good to know how you can use all the ingredients properly for maximum benefit.

THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO ANTI-INFLAMMATORY FOODS by Lizzie Streit is intended "To Boost Your Health and Immune System." This text looks like a new hardcover version of an earlier edition and Lizzie Streit is a registered dietitian with a master's degree in human nutrition. In the text she offers a page or two about each of roughly a dozen or so vegetables (leafy greens, artichokes, tomatoes, etc.) and about a smaller number of fruits (berries, pineapple and so forth), plus info on grains/legumes, salmon, nuts, spices, and drinks. That is all followed with a relatively few recipes (e.g., Carrot and Lentil Soup). The pictures are absolutely gorgeous, but the text seems more geared to informing and changing eating habits then providing standard cookbook recipes. For example, Meals that Heal by Carolyn Williams has many more ideas.

Surprise surprise another person with a new years goal of eating healthier! But as someone who struggles the last year with mental health and fatigue I am finding this book a useful guide to eating better for my body. I love that this book is about healthy and nutrition vs dieting.

The Complete Guide to Anti-Inflammatory Foods by Lizzie Streit This book is full of easy to read and understand information about inflammation which is of interest as a sufferer of RA. A wonderful overview of the food and how it combats the inflammation in your body. The pictures accompanying the pages are works of art in themselves. The information is presented in a concise and covers many aspects of the foods as they relate to helping fight inflammation. The ideas and suggestions in this book are most interesting and would be easy to incorporate into daily diets. While the PDF file is clear and easy enough to read and page through, I believe this book that would best to have as a hardcover. Look for the book in June 2022 (Hint to hubby... as my birthday is in June, would love a copy) Highly recommended

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

4/5 Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is a good reference detailing which classes of foods are anti-inflammatory, which are neutral, and those that are inflammation promoting. It then goes on to list 50 anti-inflammatory foods, explains their properties; and how they contribute to your health and well-being without being overly long or verbose. Information is given clearly and concisely. Each food has a section on why it is anti-inflammatory, how to choose items from the group, the best ways to cook/serve them, and hints on how to eat more. There are also tips for eating out and pitfalls to avoid.

It is nice that the author discusses how each of these anti-inflammatory foods fit into different diets such as Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-Free, Ketogenic, and low GI or Diabetic diets.

The idea that lectins in the nightshade family of plants cause inflammation is debunked. The author believes that these are anti-inflammatory foods, especially when cooked.

There are a few actual recipes at the end, but there are lots of recipe hints throughout the book.
My only criticism is the order of the anti-inflammatory foods. It isn’t stated why they are presented in that particular order. They are grouped by fruits, vegetables, etc; but aren’t alphabetical within those groups. Is it most anti-inflammatory to least? It isn’t stated.

With fifty foods to choose from, everyone is sure to find something they like in the Complete Guide to Anti-inflammatory Foods.

The book begins with an explanation of what inflammation is and what horrors it may do to your body. It also includes a chart of inflammatory foods to avoid. Then each of the fifty anti-inflammatory foods are profiled on a single page with a colorful full-page photograph accompanying it. Every food page contains nutritional information. There are also tips on how to work the food into your diet.

Overall, reading the Complete Guide to Anti-inflammatory Foods is a great start to modifying your diet to feel better. 4 stars!

Thanks to Chartwell Books and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

I found that it inspired me to think about a range of beautiful, nourishing fruits, nuts, seeds and vegetables.

The complete guide to anti-inflammatory foods does what it says on the tin - it provides a catalogue of beautifully photographed foods purported to have anti-inflammatory properties. Personally I have little understanding of the evidence base for anti-inflammatory nutrition, and I am always a little sceptical of anything that looks on the surface like it might be in the business of selling me 'clean eating'. Fortunately Lizzie Streit simply advocates for adding more 'anti-inflammatory' foods to your existing diet and this is something I can absolutely get on board with. There is a wonderful sense of wellbeing that comes from consuming more plants and a range of plants. For this reason I found The Complete Guide to be a lovely resource to inspire me in my cooking as self-care.
