I love cute vampire stories, and this one is totally going on the list of stories to read to my baby niece and nephew respectively. A vampire goes to a dance hall, and sets aside his cape when he gets hot and sweaty. Yet, a cake replaces his cape! Where is it? Without a cape, this vampire looks like an ordinary guy. No one will fear him. And he can't hunt; vampires can make do with breakfast cereal, but he would rather not.
I relate to moments when you can't find a thing, only for it to be there the whole time. It's a good thing that vampires can retrace their steps. And the rhymes are so clever! I cannot wait to reread.
This is a cute book about the mystery of the missing vampire cape. I think kids of all ages will really like this book.
I love spooky kid books & I would get this one for my daughter. The artwork is lovely. I wish there was a bit more to the story but I say that about a lot of kid books. I saw a review saying it has "nudity" so it's inappropriate but it doesn't show private parts & it's not made to look suggestive. The human body is not inherently dirty or inappropriate.
I got this as an ebook from NetGalley to review
This is quick funny little book, easy for young readers learning to read, the pictures illustrate the silliness the story tells.
For what this book was, it was quite good. It has a slightly unprofessional/homemade look but since the book is designed for children, no one is really going to notice. The book is entertaining, even if it's a little bit clunky. Honestly, it's an inexpensive, entertaining book that will satisfy a small child.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me an advanced copy of this title in exchange for an honest review.
Honestly, I really just didn't like this book. I felt like the rhymes and the story were super childish, but at the same time, the content about dance clubs and some of the illustrations (including nudity!) were super adult and not really for children. I am so confused about the audience for this book. Is it for children? Is it one of those "funny" books that parents are supposed to enjoy reading to kids?
The art in this book was like it was made in MS paint. Sometimes a silly story can be boosted by phenomenal art, but this is NOT one of those cases.
Overall, I thought this book was dumb and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
I loved this book. There's no doubt in it. I've always loved reading about vampires and creepy things. Well, in general reading anything on vamp isn't fun but dreadful. But this picture book is hilarious. The writting are easy to understand and I loved when it rhymed in between the illustrations.
Kids going to love it cause this book is funny the author turned something scary into a funny forgetful character.
Highly recommended.

This was a fun and interactive book, with bright colours and a great talking tool.
The story follows a vampire as he goes to a party but misplaces his cape. All's well that ends well and after a time of mourning the loss, the cape is found and the vampire goes on his way.
An accessible read and the interactive element (find and count the hidden bat and snake on each page) is appealing to a younger audience. My only criticism is that the book wanted a little more of a polish, some of the images looking a little more like a draft than final product.
On the whole an enjoyable and short read.
A vampire flies out of his cave. He finds himself attracted to a dance hall. He goes inside. What will he do? He takes off his cape as he gets hot and lies it down on a table. When he goes back to get it, it’s gone. Who took it?
A fun book to read about a vampire. It is not a scary story about vampires. I found myself laughing and enjoying this picture book. The illustrations are perfect for the story. Don’t miss out!
Thus was a fun children book. The pictures was great and bold . My child thought this was a good quick story. She liked the vampire bat and thought it was funny he lost his cape . We would recommend this book
This story is written in poem form. Unfortunately, it is inconsistent, with a ragged "rhythm," and could use help with wording. The plot seems to get off track a time or two as well--unless I'm confused. (Although I re-read it a couple of times.)
I don't want to hurt feelings, but some of it makes no sense at all to me. I could not be more perplexed about a few parts of the book.
A few burning questions:
1)WHY is the vampire not wearing clothes in a couple of scenes? (Still "G" rated.)
2)Who makes fun of vampires? And does spinning cause them injuries?
3)Does a cape prevent them from turning into a bat?
4)Is it a happy ending if he finds his cape so he can drink from people again?
5)What about the fruit?
6)Who cleans up his mess?
Some of the illustrations are appealing, although the vampire's face changes frequently--which is disturbing and disappointing, because I enjoy good (consistent) illustrations.
I had high hopes for this book and was excited to preview it, but I believe the author would do much better without using rhymes. Just tell a story. I don't know which age of children would understand it better than I do, but I hope the book is successful.
I liked the option to count snakes and/or bats, however, there were not many per page, so I don't imagine it will be engaging more than once.
2/5 Stars

It was a short but funny read. The vampire stressing about wanting to eat, grooving to music and stressing again after losing his cape was hilarious.
It's definitely a book for children but who says adults can't enjoy a short, relaxing read?

The Vampire's Missing Cape by Steve Stables is a picture book that seems to be categorized for children, but I question how appropriate it really is for children. According to the one-line description, the book is about "when a vampire flies from his cave one night, looking for a victim…" The slim picture book is rather short, but it seems to be more about the vampire's missing cape than about what it says in the description.
Overall, The Vampire's Missing Cape is a graphic novel about a vampire looking for his missing cape. Although the rhymes and short sentences make it seem like a children's picture book, I'm really not sure how appropriate it is for that age group. For example, there is a scene when the vampire is suddenly naked and the words on the page said that he is "bare." Then, in another scene, the vampire is wearing boxers only. I'm guessing the purpose of the semi-nudity was to add humor, but I didn't find it appropriate for children..

I really enjoyed this short kids story and liked how the author turned something that could be scary for young kids into someone they could identify with. Vampires can have issues with losing or misplacing their things just like us! I really enjoyed the artwork and the writing was clear and precise. If my kids were younger I would have definitely used this as a bedtime story during the fall season!
The Vampire's Missing Cape is a laugh out loud rhyming book that is sure to engage all young readers. It ties fantasy and real life together with bring the Vampire into a normal party while he is warm he misplaces his cape. This leads to him searching a bit but able to recover it.
My seven-year-old cackled through the whole thing. "Would you believe it was there the whole time?!"
Fun, easy to read, and received lots of laughs!
I love this! Get this book for your little siblings or your kids, they will love it! As soon as I was done reading this I gave it to my little brother and he LOVED it so much,he wanted the book to be longer lol.
This was such a fun little story for me amd my kids!
They love when books rhyme, and this one had them giggling from the illustrations!
Definitely a great book for kids and adults alike
A fun and humorous read about a vampire who loses his cape.
I really liked the illustrations and retro colors in the first few pages, but the art style underwent an abrupt and drastic change after the vampire leaves the nightclub. The rhyming felt forced at some parts but overall, it was a quick and entertaining read.

A book that rhymes and has a simple story. The illustrations are uncomplicated. They do look like they are missing something.
Also, there is a part where the vampire is naked with only socks on and covering himself. And another where he only has boxers on. Just a couple of things for parents to keep in mind (in case you don't want your kid to see that). All in all, this is an alright pick for a Halloween book.
