This book had me a cats. LOL This checked off everything I look for in a book. Was not disappointed. Really enjoyed this book. I will read more from this author.
A middle-aged Italian-American woman lives alone with her cats and writes books. She encounters a very strange man at a book-signing event and when she follows up on the encounter, gets herself in a whale of trouble! What happens next is at times, over-the-top silly, but yet fun to read. The book was a bit on the short side, but was quite entertaining.
This is a short, fun and easy to read book with a bit of adventure, lots of cats and some Italian food. Oh and a kidnapping of course.
It is a bit of a fun read but doesn't have much depth, with characters needing a bit ore development and the story needing a bit more mystery and a few more twists and turns. Having said that it is a bit of a light-hearted read and a good start to a new series!
o Humorous story with a cat in it of course! The start of a new light mystery series with Anna as the author turned PI. Yes, the heroine is herself a mystery writer with 7 cats and not in her first flush of youth. Enjoyable romp.
I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Cats, Cannolis and a Curious Kidnapping definitely had an interesting title that intrigued me. First off, my inner Italian loves Cannoli's. Seriously, I do. With some chocolate chips or a little cinnamon and I'm good. Not a huge fan of cats and I was a little scared that our main character had 7 of them. Super allergic to them but they are cute to look at.
Since this is the first book of the Anna Romano series, I'll kind of excited with what will happen next. Even though this was short it was definitely jam packed with lots of action and Italian cuisine. The kidnapping itself definitely made me laugh but that's because I enjoyed both point of views throughout this.
The only thing I would have liked a bit more was the actual mystery being drawn out. It just felt like things were kind of rushed towards the end. Which, yes, makes sense with such a short book. Other than that, I enjoyed this and look forward to the next installment!
Great cozy mystery! Highly recommend to fans of the genre and others looking to check it out. Will be purchasing for the library and keeping an eye on this author!
Absolutely loved this book. So much so I read it in one night. Anna loves her life as a writer and Mommy to her 7 cats. When her life is disrupted and her life as well as that of her babies is threatened. Anna goes into high gear protective mode. With the aid of Detective Sloan (who is a love interest), they must find a way to keep everyone safe from the person obsessed with hurting Anna. If you like cozy mysteries this is one for you. The author adds humor and facts to the storyline and keeps you guessing to the very end of the book.
Cats, Cannolis and a Curious Kidnapping is a delightful romp through a fictional authors life where the impossible and inane often occur simultaneously. Anna is content with her life but occasionally wonders if it would be more with a man to share it with. She is slowly but surely entering the crazy cat lady zone.
Being kidnapped by a lunatic with self esteem issues most assuredly helped Anna reflect on her life choices.
I enjoyed watching Anna’s insane antics and Johns frantic race to save her. This was a fun first in a series and I look forward to the next installment.
Loved it! What a delightful protagonist. A seriously humorous kidnapping occurs. Or should I say a humorous serious kidnapping? I am looking forward to reading more of Anna Romano's adventures. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. There was a seeming inconsistancy during the boat adventure. Children's voices were heard, but they were not on the boat according to later information or so it appeared. That portion was confusing. Where were the mother and children?
Sorry, requested this arc thinking it was the new one in a series.
This was my previous review:
"I can't wait to read the next instalment in this series.
This novella was well written, entertaining and engrossing. I laughed out loud and liked the well thought cast of characters."
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine."
