I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Guilty Couple by C. L. Taylor. It’s a fast-paced thriller with a plot that stands out from the usual fare in the genre. The characters were intriguing, and the twists and turns kept me engaged throughout. The climax was especially thrilling and made the reading experience even more enjoyable. Definitely, the book deserves 4 stars.

Olivia framed for plotting to murder her husband, five years after she's out to prove her innocence. Well drawn characters with lots of twists and turns. The plot moves along nicely and keeps you guessing. The narrator is very good easy on the ear.
I received this audiobook from Harper Collins Audio UK and Netgalley for a review.

I’ve read a few books by the author and always enjoy them. This time I listened and was drawn into Clare Corbett’s narration. It is a quick paced story about a woman who is wrongfully imprisoned for attempted murder of her husband. Except for their daughter Grace, I was inclined to trust any of them or even feel sorry for them. While I wasn’t a fan of any of the characters, I did want to know if Cameron was framed and why.

You can't go wrong with a C L Taylor book! I've read a few of her books and this was yet another very enjoyable thriller! The audiobook was so well narrated and really kept my attention . I couldn't wait to listen each day and my mind never wandered because this narrator did such a fantastic job!
I love a plot line with a wrongly convicted character , wondering which way the story may twist and which characters we can actually trust. Told in the pov of 3 main characters , Olivia, Dominic and Dani , with a number of other characters. I found it easy to keep track who was who but my suspicious mind suspected many of them of lying and I really wasnt sure who was trustworthy.
Full of suspense, which came across well in the narrative, a fast paced and addictive read. I'd highly recommend!

I have always loved this author’s work, and this domestic thriller was no different. The story of a husband a wife caught in a deadly cat and mouse game, with their daughter’s fate lying in the balance. An excellent read!

The Guilty Couple by CL Taylor
Audiobook Review 8hrs 10m
Genre: Thriller
"He framed her. Now she'll destroy him"

I'm late in sharing this review with you, as the book was released 23 Jun.
I have read 5 books by CL Talyor and this was a good one.

It's is a well paced thriller, each chapter through the book is from a specific character's perspective. I did like the main character Olivia, you really did feel for her, what she has missed out on with her daughter whilst in prison.

As you would expect there were some good twists, some you may or may not see coming. I found this an enjoyable thriller, though it held no real surprises in the storyline. A great audiobook thriller that will keep the listener focused on the story, one I'd happily recommend.

The narrator does a great job at placing the reader into the story, very well read.

I enjoyed this thriller! I liked the characters, although it took me a little while to get used to who was who. I enjoyed the storyline and thought it was a well written book.

C.L. Taylor has smashed it again! What I love about Taylors books is you’re guaranteed an addictive read and this book is just that and more!

Having listening to the audio I just couldnt stop listening to it. Narrated by Clare Corbett who I love. She has narrated a few of Taylor’s books that I’ve listened to. This one is only 8 hours and 10 mins long and bloody brilliant.

In this story we meet Olivia Sutherland who was convicted of plotting to murder her husband 5 years ago…Now she is free and wants to clear her name so she is out for revenge.

The Guilty couple of full of twists and turns and OMG moments and I found myself totally captivated by this story. I wanting Liv to get the truth as much has she did. This story will blow your mind, the tension is unreal. The autor gets better and better each book she writes. This one is my favourtite so far….I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next! This book is a must read.

Thank you to Avon and Netgalley for an audio copy all thoughts are my own and not biased in anyway.

Good and easy faced paced read. Whilst the characters motives were clear, I struggled to believe in them. A lot of odd and frustrating decisions were made by characters throughout the book and a lot of people were just down right bad people. Not my favourite read by this author.

This is probably one of the most hyped thrillers I've seen on bookstagram in the last few months, so I was super excited to be granted the audiobook through Netgalley. This was certainly cleverly written: dark, gritty, and twisty with decidedly unlikeable characters and fast pacing.

A true tale of deceit and distrust, perspectives switched between Olivia, Dominic (ex-husband), and Dani (police officer) which gave us a broad understanding of the situation from different points of view. The viewpoint of Olivia was original, as we see her life after prison explored, however have liked to see more from the past - Olivia's life with Dom in particular, as I found it strange to see a plot told only from the point of five years after the crime. This was unique but I personally felt like it left a lot missing.

I enjoyed the narrator (Clare Corbett) who made this a super easy and enjoyable listen. Between Olivia, Dom, and Dani, we're served some very questionable characters, and I really didn't warm to anyone except Smithy.

I was so excited for this audiobook! The narrator is so talented and couldn't wait to get stuck in.
This was a fantastic listen. One I would listen to at any opportunity (the biggest sign for me) and I loved the pacing and tension as things played out.
The plot sang to me. I love framed characters, wrongful convictions and the like.
For some reason, I just couldn't get my head around the characters. Which one was her husband, her lover, the friend, the policewoman just got constantly confused in my mind and I couldn't seem to keep them straight. This made it rather difficult and I lost a lot of the impact of the ending.
Overall, a great thriller!

Olivia was not just unhappy in her marriage, her husband framed her for a crime she did commit and she went to prison for five years,
Thankfully, Olivia not only look after herself on the inside, but makes a good mate to Smithy who gets release not long after Olivia.
Smithy, has been round the block a few times and has been frequently on the wrong side of the law. That is just the sort of person Olivia needs if she is going to repair her friendship with her estranged teenage daughter Grace, clear her name and get revenge on her ex-husband Dominic.
Through in a bent copper and a supposed, good friend with some menace and plot twists and you end up with an entertaining page turner,
If you have read and enjoyed Gilly Macmillan, you will enjoy #TheGuiltyCouple. A book for those who enjoy mystery thrillers.

With thanks to #NetGalleyand HarperCollins UK audio for the audio preview.

What an intriguing concept! A woman serves 5 years in prison for attempting to kill her husband. Now she’s free and seeking revenge! Sign me up!

This was an entertaining and super quick read! Told in multiple points of view, this story has a wide variety of characters, and all of them are unlikeable, but it works! I always enjoy never knowing who to trust which always leaves me continually guessing and on my toes!

While I was never blown away at any point, I was engrossed from start to finish and flew through it! I’m definitely interested to read more from Taylor!

3.5 rounded to 4 for goodreads

The narration of the audiobook was excellent and it made for an easy listen backwards and forwards to work. I love CL Taylor’s books, but I found it difficult to warm to the characters in The Guilty Couple. Olivia was a little annoying to be honest and I found myself rolling my eyes a few times at various events within the book. Entertaining, but not her best.

3.75⭐ rounded up.
Olivia was convicted of a crime she says she did not commit. After 5 years in the slammer she's released and out for revenge. Her husband, Dominic, had accused her and her lover, Jack, of conspiring to kill him and she says he's framed her. Do we believe the cheating wife or the jilted husband? And where is Jack now to help shed light on the case?

It alternates between Olivia, Dominic (ex-husband) and Dani's (detective) POV's. I loved that for this one because it showed that there were plenty of secrets. There were some edge of my seat moments.

Olivia made a true friend in prison, Smithy. She was really there for her when she needed help to try to bring Dom down and prove she was set up. I didn't care for Dani at all ~ she's a little over ambitious being a detective and a person trainer, weird. Award goes to Dom for being the jerkiest of all jerks.

Narrated by Clare Corbett for 8 hours and 10 minutes, she did a pretty good job. I do wish there was a male narrator for Dom's parts, but at least she didn't even try to do his voice. Sweet spot was 1.75x for this one, my usual 2x didn't work for this narrator.

Overall, I was pretty engrossed in the story throughout. If you enjoy a wrongfully convicted leading to a revenge plot story then give this one a try.

Review:
I have to say I wasn’t overwhelmed by this book. The plot was okay, mostly enjoyable, but nothing jawdropping. I don’t think this is CL Taylor’s best book. But mostly I don’t think that because of the plot.
I didn’t really connect with the characters. They were a bit flat and dull. I also found the writing style clunky - too much explanation, too much stating every detail.
But it was an okay read. That’s all I really have to say about it. Shame it wasn’t anything better.

I love a thriller audiobook as you get the tension well in the way it is spoken. I didn’t love the narrator but I don’t think it took anything away from the story either.

I always enjoy C L Taylor books and this was no disappointment. I really enjoyed the plot and the tension it created! Definitely recommend!
