Thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. The narrator did a great job and kept me interested.
CL Taylor has written an intriguing tale that tells the story of the marriage of Olivia and Dom. it starts in the courtroom as Olivia awaits the verdict following her trial, where she is charged with hiring a hitman to kill her husband Dom. She protests she is innocent and has been set up.

After serving 5 years, she is free and determined to rebuild her relationship with her daughter and prove her innocence. She builds a network of support including friends from before her time in prison and friends she has made inside, with that network she begins to unravel the truth.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this title

The audiobook of this story was just engrossing as the story itself. Seeing this book recommended everywhere on the bookstagram, I knew I had to read it as well.

That’s what I call a wild ride! I was so intrigued by the story that I honestly couldn’t stop listening, and the narrator's voice surely helped to make the experience even better.

The suspenseful moments in here are just one after another and I could barely get a grip on what happened and how is this going to resolve in the end? The author has done an amazing job of creating a book with so many characters that have their own place and moment in here.

I can’t say that I liked any of them, to my surprise not even the little daughter, but I also think that’s not a surprise after seeing what her parents could do throughout this story.

The final chapters were really unexpected and I’m curious to know if we will ever get a sequel because that surely left a door open for more in the future.

🆓🎧 Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy

The premise of this book was so great, but the plot moved sometime a little too slowly for my liking but not so slow as to put me off.

Wow... exciting from start to end and the narration was absolutely brilliant!

The whole story is fast moving and full of twists. Once Liv has done her time for a crime she did not commit you would think the worst was in the past, but it is far from it. All Liv wants to do is spend time with her daughter and repair her relationship with her, but it's not that straight forward.

Every time you think you have figured out who was behind setting up Liv and why, something else happens. Nearly every message or email leads to doubt, is it really from the sender you think and if so, was it written under pressure?

Be ready for a crazy ride with lots of loops making you tense nearly the whole listen!

I was completely engrossed by this audio book of The Guilty Couple. All the twisty-turny-ness, all the way through, as Olivia seeks to gain control of her life, reconnect with her daughter and get revenge on her ex-husband after having been framed and imprisoned, keeps the listener transfixed. A fab listen.

Another cracker from CL Taylor. What a conundrum of lies, deceit and betrayals; who’s narrative may be trusted and why was Olivia framed for plotting murder. This is a very clever plot which involves the central character, Olivia, coming out of prison after serving five years for a crime she didn’t commit. She vows to clear her name. The narrative switches between three central characters, Olivia, her husband and a female police officer. They all have back stories which are complex and they’re all totally plausible individuals.

The action centres on Olivia’s attempts to obtain evidence that she was fitted up by her ex husband because she was having an affair. It races along in short snappy chapters as she inveigles support from a few friends and an ex con. I bought in to all the individuals, some more odious than others and it’s a fast paced ride to a breathtaking denouement. The clues were there, but so well hidden I missed a few and didn’t see the betrayals and deceit that had been going on for some time.

This is a thoroughly satisfying read/listen. I had the audio version and narration throughout was excellent. Loved this psycho thriller which kept me engrossed over a couple of nights.

My thanks to the publisher for a review copy via Netgalley.

‘He framed her. Now she’ll destroy him.’ - cover tag line.

My thanks to HarperCollins U.K. Audio for a review copy via NetGalley of the unabridged audiobook edition of ‘The Guilty Couple’ by C.L. Taylor. The audiobook is narrated by Clare Corbett.

This domestic noir opens at the conclusion of a 2014 trial in which art gallery owner Olivia Sutherland is convicted of conspiracy to commit murder. Her alleged target was her husband, Dominic. She receives a sentence of ten years. Five years later Olivia is released on probation and intends to clear her name and reestablish her relationship with her now 12-year-old daughter, Grace. Oh and see that Dominic pays.

There’s no doubt that Dominic is a rotter as we quickly learn from his chapters. He has an ally in Dani, who played an important role in Olivia’s conviction. Dani also has her own chapters and is a serving police officer with a side business as a personal trainer. Her reasons for cooperating with Dominic’s scheme become clear as the plot unfolds.

Yet Olivia has not only survived those five years in prison but has made allies, including the street smart East Londoner Smithy.

‘The Guilty Couple’ was a fast paced thriller and while some aspects of the plot were a bit out there it proved an entertaining summer read.

With respect to the audiobook, l find that a novel such as this is well suited to the audio format as it makes it possible to listen on the go. Clare Corbett is an experienced British actor who has narrated hundreds of audiobook titles. I have always enjoyed her readings. She has been the narrator on a number of C.L. Taylor’s novels.

Overall, ‘The Guilty Couple’ proved an engaging domestic noir/psychological thriller that I zoomed through.

The premise of this book was great and you will never see the ending coming! While I enjoyed listening to this audiobook, I found it difficult to follow at times due to so many characters. I felt that if there were multiple narrators it would have made it less confusing and added depth and more dynamic to the audiobook.

There were twists throughout the book but nothing that floored me. This was steady paced and an enjoyable audiobook to listen too. I do plan on checking out other books by CL Taylor but I will likely read those rather than listen to it as an audio.

I am rating this 3.5 stars but rounding down on Goodreads.

***** Many thanks to HarperCollins UK Audio, Avon, CL Taylor, and NetGalley for the gifted copy as it was provided to me in turn for my honest opinion.

My review will be posted to instagram (thriller_book_sisters) on 6/22/22.

I’ve read many books from C.L.Taylor and this was definitely one of her best. The plot is intriguing and there are a lot of twists and turns I didn’t see coming. The narration was not the best, but the narrator managed to maintain the suspense and tension. I highly recommended this book for readers that like a page turner.

Olivia has just been released from prison where she has wrongly served five years for plotting to kill her husband. Her aim now is to clear her name and rebuild her relationship with her 12 year old daughter.

Oh wow! I loved this book. I have read a few of C L Taylor's books before but this was the first I had listened to on audio and it was brilliant. I don't know if it was the story, the narrator or most likely both, but my god it was tense! I thought I was going to stop breathing at times. I would absolutely recommend.

I gave this a high 4⭐️. The Guilty Couple was an entertaining mystery, suspense thriller. It moved along at a fast and thrilling pace. Someone’s lying or maybe everyone’s lying. Engaging plot and satisfying conclusion. I will definitely read another by this author.
I chose to listen to this book on audio and enjoyed Clare Corbett as the narrator. She did a great job and I highly suggested listening to it.

Olivia is released from prison having served five years for the attempted murder of her husband. However, Olivia is adamant that she was framed and is determined to prove her innocence.

Audiobooks are relatively new to me having only listened to six but I have to say this one has been the best of them. Right from the opening sentence the action never lets up. Olivia was about to leave her husband when he framed her with the help of a female police officer. Her lover disappeared from the scene completely.

Having served her time Olivia has two things on her mind when she is released; to clear her name and to reconnect with her daughter. You can feel the frustration of the main character, particularly in view of her innocence. Very few people believe her so once she is released she only has a couple of people to offer her support. One of the ex-prisoners she did time with is the best character in the story. Added to the mix is Olivia not knowing exactly who she can trust and her ex-lover suddenly getting in touch.

Trying to prove she was framed was a little like an onion, as one layer is peeled off another, more intricate layer is revealed. All of this adds to the tension and with time running out you wonder if Olivia will be able to succeed.

I've been looking forward to reading something by C.L Taylor because her premises always sound awesome. This one, about having a wife framed by her husband intrigued me!

After listening to the audiobook, I'm a bit torn on my opinion.

While I enjoyed the narrator, I felt like it could benefit from more narrators since the story was told in multiple povs and alternated between first and third person. The same person narrating all made it a bit hard to follow. The writing itself and the depth of the characters were great. But, some of the side plots seemed inecessary. If it was in another genre maybe it would work better, as it was, I didn't feel like they were too relevant. The plot development was okay, not jaw dropping.

Unfortunately, it was just an okay read for me.

Another great read from this author, love the twists and injustice of it all. Well designed plot with a couple of sub plots to keep it all connected, after a prison sentence a woman seeks out the truth and uncovers a whole lot more than she bargained for, has to stay on best behaviour for her estranged daughters sake, but gets her back in the end. Thank you #NetGalley for the audiobook to review.

For some reason I had a really hard time following this one and connecting with it. I found myself getting confused because there were so many characters and just not being interested in this because it just didn't grip me from the beginning. I did think the ending was pretty good and everything was wrapped up nicely so I was satisfied but I just didn't find this that exciting or thrilling. The premise sounded great and I thought this would be fast paced but it dragged and just seemed like it could have cut out a lot of details. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I think this is possibly CL Taylor’s twistiest novel yet. You don’t know who is telling the truth, what will happen next and you start believing nothing you hear because someone could be double crossing someone else. All set around a marriage that broke down, several affairs and someone out for revenge. It is juicy and stressful and fabulous all at the same time!
Olivia is such an interesting character to spend this novel with because when we meet her she has just got out of prison, we know she is not above underhand moves and we know she wants revenge. She is also a mother who has been separated from her child and we know the power that can have over someone so you start off with some sympathy for her but mainly there’s just some suspsician and sense of ‘how much can we really trust’ about her. Then add in her friends on the inside and the outside and the long list of people who scorned her and you have a melting out that is just waiting to bubble over. It is quite literally the perfect storm!
The host of other characters in this thriller is phenomenal. We have a police officer who just seems to lie her way around everything that she does. I feel like I never really got to know who’s side she was on or whether anything she said or did ever was in fact the truth or what actually happened, she needs her own spin-off book that’s for sure. And then we have the husband. I don’t know what happened in his past to make him the way that he was but he is a complex fellow and someone else I’m not likely to ever be able to work out. Just like the other main players in this book, I never felt like I could trust him but again I know that some of what he did came out of love for his child and some of what he did came out of lust and thinking with his pants so I can sympathies to some extent with the position he was in.
The child in this novel just adds to the messiness. She is a teen by the time her mum gets out of prison and she therefore has some autonomy in the whole situation and so often the choices that she makes as the plot thickens really do add to the twists and turns along the way. She plays such an important role in the whole situation and yet sometimes she does hinder things going smoothly and definitely stops anything being resolved most of the time. I like that she was involved in the story but I worried about her so much for the majority of the book and I was glad for her when I was turning those final few pages!
I listened to this book on audio. I haven’t listened to a CL Taylor book all the way through before and so it was interesting and I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to keep up with the plot and the characters but I think it added to the thrill. The narration was great and I was just as dgripped as when I have read paperback, hardback or ebooks from this writer. This book was excellent. It filled me with adrenaline and I think it is the perfect book to escape with this summer!

Olivia Sutherland was jailed in 2014 after being found guilty of plotting to kill her husband. Cut to 2019 and she is now out and desperate to start on rebuilding her life and her relationship with her daughter, but she can't shake the need to prove her innocence and find out what really happened and how she was set up.

This book opened with a bang, then settles into a steady pace of storytelling with quick snappy chapters to draw you in. With some great characters and one or two unexpected twist and turns, this was an entertaining listen.

As with many CL Taylor books, this one hooks you early on and keeps you reading late into the night. Of course it is unrealistic and far-fetched. But who would want to read something humdrum and realistic? I read to escape reality! This is an exciting, intense book with surprises and suspense all through. Really had me rooting for the main character to clear her name and get her husband into the trouble he deserves!
