This was just the perfect ending for what is definitely one of my favourite trilogies! Iy was an emotional rollercoaster but I just loved it! I love all the characters so much which definitely boosted my love for this book and I love their relationships with each other. Everything about this book was just perfect… the writing, the plot twists, the quest! This will definitely be up there as one of my favourite reads of the year.
This is the final book in the prison healer series and I am delighted to say it’s as good as every book so far, it’s fast paced and addictive, you really can’t put it down, and its a fitting finale to the series. I loved the fact Noni wove all the loose threads together and answered every missing question. I was so addicted I barely noticed I was and the end and all I wanted to do was read on and I loved that ending, just perfect. If you’ve read the first two you will definitely not be disappointed and if you haven’t, I’m jealous as you have such a treat in store. Absolutely fantastic

Thank you @hodderscape for sending me an eARC of The Blood Traitor by @lynettenoni to review!
Spoilers for books 1&2 ahead!
This was a fantastic conclusion to The Prison Healer trilogy! It picks up right after the brutal cliffhanger of book 2 and we reunite with a Cresta who was a fringe character in book 1. Kiva’s mental health journey was so well done, I shed many tears after seeing aspects of my own depression in her.
Of course, Kiva and Jarren are eventually reunited and there’s a whole lot of tension now that the secrets are all out. The ups and downs of their relationship were handled really well and some of their scenes had me tearing up.
The side characters stole the show for me in this series! Caldon and Naari were as fantastic as ever bringing humour and wisdom to the group.
Tipp is the sweetest soul and must be protected at all costs. This young boy brought a lightness and innocence to the series that I think this book in particular really needed to balance out the heavier themes. Also I was fully celebrating alongside Tipp when a certain couple finally kissed!
Cresta was my favourite character in this book and I thought her backstory and development were fantastic! I had my suspicions about her and was not disappointed. I’d love a spin-off book or even a bonus chapter from her POV.
Tor and Kiva were reunited as well and it was lovely seeing more of their sibling bond.
Read this instalment for:

Wow just wow,
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and it did not disappoint.
Noni notes at the beginning that she touches on multiple triggering theme's included in this book, but they are written with care and consideration throughout.
We pick back up with Kiva back in Zalindov after her sister shows her true colours at the end of book 2 and it's a page turner from the get go. It has everything I think a good book needs, quests, betrayal's, heartbreak, friendship, magic. Book 3 really did not disappoint.
Noni writes in such away that there are constant twists a turns through this book and just when you think you have something figured out, turns out you really don't. We get to see more of the world the story is set in and we also get more time with Caldon and Tipp who I think are now up there in my favourite characters of all time. There were moments where I really wanted to give Kiva and Jaren a good shake and felt so frustrated but Noni once again proves why this series is brilliant and writes their story beautifully.
Kiva goes through such a journey, alone and with the rest of the characters in this book but the way she handles them with the support of the people around her really does make her an amazing heroine. I am shocked to say Cresta becomes one of my favourite people in this story!
Although I am gutted this journey has come to an end, I will most definitely be rereading this series over and over again for years to come
I love this book! Not because it’s the best written, or most unique, book ever. But because it made me genuinely happy, and immersed me to the degree where time just disappeared. I had a fun time while reading, and isn’t that the most important part?
I was a bit worried at the start, since I wasn’t to sure on what direction the story would take, and the pacing felt a bit off. But it got better, and eventually became exactly what I loved from the previous two books. The already established rag-tag gang of misfits expanded, and it was glorious. I love this bunch of misfits so much. Especially when older characters got brought back and now had a proper personality to them. All the characters evolved over the course of the story, and they all felt like they had a role to play in bringing the plot forward.
One thing I enjoyed was the fact that the final battle actually took some time. There was stages to it, and it felt like it actually had a purpose. Because it’s a bit anti-climatic to have a story build up to a battle and then it’s over and done with in only like 10 pages...
The story kept me at the edge of my seat, and it was a well-done finale to the series. No threads felt left hanging, and everything came together. All I wanted to do was continue reading, continue being in this world. It also had a ending that tugged at my feels, without breaking my heart. Because I couldn’t have handled to sad of an ending. I want my happy ever afters!
Considering that every book has been either a 4 or 5 star read, The Prison Healer trilogy is up there with as one of my favourite series ever.
real rating 4.5*
I have been eagerly waiting for this book after the events of book 2! I absolutely adore the friendship between Kiva and Caldon and there were so many moments that I was saying aww or gasping out loud. A certain event nearly gave me a heart attack but luckily didn't have turn for the worse. I loved reading about these characters again and thought that the events from the last book were wrapped up really well, without being over too quickly. I have overall really enjoyed this series and will be checking out the authors' other works.
The Blood Traitor is the final instalment of The Prison Healer trilogy and it was everything! The story picks up from where we left The Gilded Cage, and as with the 2 previous books we are straight back into the action. Although Kiva did some mighty dumb things, my heart broke for her at the beginning. This is another fast paced book that had me on the edge of my seat whilst reading, and feeling all the feels! I felt so many emotions throughout this book, its an absolute rollercoaster. I loved the new friendship that Kiva made with an unlikely character, this bond that grew in the most difficult circumstances was just beautiful! There were so many challenges that the characters had to go through and reading about them all coming to terms with what had happened and seeing them grow even more was amazing. We had a quest in this book, I mean come on, how incredible! I could not put this book down, Caldon will forever be my favourite, sorry Jaren but there is no competition. The side characters are all so important to the story, sometimes I feel like having too many can take away from the main ones, but this is not the case with these books. They all bring their own uniqueness and each personality just gels so well with the others. The world building was rich and lush, I could picture everything perfectly. There were plenty of twists and turns and holy moly that ending! This book was everything I hoped it would be.
Oh my god. Lynette is a master with words. This was the perfect conclusion to the trilogy I have come to love so deeply. I laughed, i cried and I held my breath. This was incredible.
Thank you so much Hodder and Stoughton for the arc. That was incredible
Damn it I love Cresta in every way humanly fathomable, closely followed by Caldon.
This book tugged at my emotions so hard, and so frequently, that I think I am permanently scarred. I cried, in multiple places, I full on legitimately balled my eyes out. And there were times I laughed, times I smiled, and a couple times I shouted my agreement in such loud happiness I scared my child.
We got to know and love (and hate, you know who you are 👀) so many characters in The Blood Traitor, the development of Kiva and Jaren was just heart wrenching to read, both their individual journeys and their journey together. I have so much respect for Lynette Noni for writing such perfectly relatable characters with story arcs that touch the soul.
And that ending though is utter perfection, I couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion to this book, and the trilogy itself.
The Blood Traitor is the big final book in the (The Prison Healer) series by Lynette Noni. Not joking I screamed and jumped up and down when I got this ARC book sent to me by netgalley. I’ve been counting the days down since The Gilded Cage, and just kept looking on netgalley to request for this book. This series has been absolutely phenomenal since book one, what an absolute epic adventure this has been. I've enjoyed every minute and The Blood Traitor was out of this world, I was so glued to the story that I was there, and forgot I was in this world.
"𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚'𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩-𝙞𝙛𝙨. 𝘿𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙮 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙮𝙚𝙩 𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙨𝙩."
The Blood Traitor starts straight off from where we were left by that suspenseful cliff hanger Lynette left us with. Kiva goes through a tough time in this book, she definitely has to face her worst nightmares yet and be the strongest she can ever be before. With everyone thinking she is a traitor not the easiest thing. We get to know a lot more about characters from past books too which I loved. Now Jaren ahhhhhhh I absolutely love Jaren so much, I’ve gotta say Kiva and Jaren was breaking my heart literally. I seriously was an emotional wreck reading this book. It was so nerve racking, I just didn't want to lose any of these characters that I fell so in love with. I really got to love Caldon in this. He melted my heart, he is so sweet, I really wish I had a friend like Caldon, he had me in stitches. Some of the things he was saying were brilliant. Sweet little Tipp bless his little heart, he so brilliant and you can see from book one how much he has grown up and how much more confident he's got.The time is ticking before the war is coming, with enemies drawing closer there's a quest that must be completed to save the whole of Wenderall, with tough and dangerous challenges ahead, They all face their most perilous journey yet.

I am so upset to say goodbye to this extraordinary series. Lynette is amazing at creating this world and such lovable characters, there were definitely ones that I hated so much, I'm sure you guys will agree when finishing this series. I was in tears when I read the last page, I didn't want it to be over and I devoured this book. I have no words that describe how utterly amazing this read was. This is one series that will stay with me forever and will definitely be rereading in the future. Lynette and become one of my favourite authors. I can’t wait for you guys to read cause wow what a perfect finale it was.
“We’re in this together, Sunshine. You and me. Got it?”
OH MISERY! OH DESPAIR! THE TRAGEDY! *dramatic wailing and snorting into tissue* One of my favourite book series has come to an end - and what an ending it was. Lynette Noni, I cannot comprehend the words great enough to convey how in awe I am of you. The Blood Traitor is a masterpiece. How Noni wrote this in 46 days blows my freaking mind.
The Blood Traitor doesn’t let up on the brakes from the opening page. Picking up from where The Gilded Cage ended, we’re thrust right back into the action with our hearts in our mouths and stomachs churning with Kiva’s shocking circumstances and heartbreak. Quite literally at rock bottom, Kiva must somehow pick herself up and dust off the pain, to find a way to reunite with her found family and make right the wrongs that have happened.
Just like The Prison Healer and The Gilded Cage, The Blood Traitor is extremely fast paced, highly readable and action-packed. In order to save the kingdom of Evalon, many of the characters we’ve come to love journey across Kingdoms we’ve not yet seen, encountering challenge after challenge every step of the way. There’s numerous sword battles, magic training and cloak and dagger schemes, all leading to a climax of epic proportions. It’s adventurous, thrilling and had me on the edge of my seat the ENTIRE time!! The expression action-packed is not used lightly!
If I had to pick an absolute favourite thing in The Blood Traitor, it is the message of hope it promotes. This instalment takes Kiva to a very dark place: bookfriends, please be mindful that the story explores themes of self loathing and suicidal thoughts. I won’t lie, this made me teary and played havoc with my emotions. But it was/is worth it for the portrayal of someone fighting their way back to the light. It was nothing short of inspiring and unforgettable. There are many passages in this book I’ve saved to reflect on when I’m having a bad day, because they mean so much, especially coming from characters I love wholeheartedly - thank you Lynette Noni.
The heart in these books is a soothing balm for the soul. The friendship, acceptance and general family vibes certainly brightened up my days and made me feel less alone. Even though I’m disappointed there wasn’t more romance (with only a tiny bit of Kiva and Jaren’s romance toward the end of the book), Kiva’s friendships with Caldon and CVK (if you know, you know) make up for it. The friendships found in this book are God tier found family. If you’re ever feeling down and need some fictional friendship TLC? Look no further; you’ll find your support here.
I love, love, love, LOVE these characters. The entire ensemble were perfect. Noni continues to explore and expand the character arcs of supporting characters, which in my past experience when reading book series, either takes away from the main character/story or is a nuisance because I couldn’t care less about them. That is not the case here. I was choked up holding back my tears, I was fist bumping the air with elation… I very much enjoyed getting to know or being reacquainted with newer characters.
And of course! This wouldn’t be The Prison Healer series without some plot twists and drama, would it? The craftsmanship of how thoroughly this series was plotted to pull off the number of jaw dropping shocks and turn of events it has, is the definition of genius. And The Blood Traitor is no exception. I could see where some threads were headed and figured out other threads, but Noni still snuck up on me and left me SPEECHLESS! I’m still waiting for my eyebrows to come back down from my hairline.
The Blood Traitor is how you write a conclusion to a series. It takes us out with a bang and delivers an extraordinary end to an absolutely phenomenal YA fantasy series. It’s one my favourite reads ever and I will read it again and again and again in the future. You know a book was a special kind of magic when there is literal pain because it’s all over.
High stakes, heart pounding and completely soul consuming - if there’s one book series you read in 2022, make it this one. It’s not to be missed. Thank you for the wild ride.
Thank you beyond words to Hodder & Stoughton for an e-ARC in exchange for this honest review.
I cannot cope with the fact that this series has come to an end. Kiva and Jaren are two characters who I absolutely adore and I need more of in my life. What I loved about this book, beyond the quests and adventure, was the sense of found family and old characters coming back into play. Caldon will forever hold a piece of my heart, as will Tipp! Noni has created a world that captures you completely. What a brilliant ending to a fantastic fantasy trilogy! I could easily pick this book up again and read it.
Firstly I’d like to thank the publishers and Netgalley for the eARC, I love you eternally 😍😘
The Prison Healer Series is one of my favourites so I was so worried about the ending but I don’t know why I was, this book is EPIC!! It phenomenal 😍😍
It starts off with Kiva in Zalindov where, after making an unexpected ally, she ‘manages’ to get away from the prison and from there her journey continues (sorry, I want to keep this as spoiler free as possible 😅😅). She manages to ‘meet’ up with all of our friends from the previous books (how I’ve missed Jaren 😍🥵).
As always, Caldon totally stole the show for me ❤️❤️ I absolutely adore him and he is on top form in The Blood Traitor. He has a new person to play with and I’m living for it!! I love his relationship with Kiva and they’re so loving in this book (they made me cry).
The storyline is brilliant!! It’s fast paced, always moving, surprising and yet nothing is rushed. Everything is set a good pace so you know where every character is at that time. It’s perfect ❤️❤️
My heart totally melts when the words Kiva and Jaren are on the same page 🥹🥹 I’ve not forgotten to write about them or their relationship, I just don’t want to spoil anything for anyone ❤️❤️
I cried while reading this book. A lot. Like 10 times. I’m super emotional about it for so many reasons 🥺❤️ Kiva’s journey is one that I’ve loved going on so much and now I super sad that it’s over but I’m also so glad I got to go on it with the gang ❤️❤️ Lynette Noni did not disappoint in anyway and if I could give this book 10 stars I would. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for sure!!
Woah! I was so excited to be approved for this one having devoured the previous two novels in the series and this was no different. Even though I had kind of forgotten what happened in the previous book, it was easy to catch back up and fall right back in love with Kiva and the gang <3
I absolutely loved getting to know some of the characters we had only heard about in the previous books as well as the darker battles being faced by the characters after the events at the end of The Gilded Cage,
I must say that Cresta is one hell of a character and I adored her journey as well as getting to see more of Caldon! He’s the best :)
I did find some elements a little slow and predictable and the ending a little *too* convenient for my tastes, but it was minor really! A fab conclusion to an awesome trilogy
4.5 stars
Thank you so much to everyone at Hodder and Stoughton and Netgalley for this gifted e-ARC! Xxx
This review is going to suck because this book was perfect and I have nothing to say, apart from just screaming into the void this book was absolutely awesome.
The Blood Traitor is the perfect ending to the trilogy. I have nothing but praise for this series, Lynette Noni surprised me book after book. I was expecting this book to fully explore this world and that’s exactly what we got and so much more. I can’t believe she managed to develop existing characters even further and bring new intriguing ones at the same time.
We found a different Kiva at the beginning, she is back at Zalindov and the second time is even darker and more messed up, but she found a new and totally unexpected ally. This story is about building relationships, finding the strength to continue even when you want to give up, and also redemption. I loved how the plot evolved book after book and how the plot never stopped bringing twists in the story that made it difficult to put this book down. Once you start, you have to get to the end.
This trilogy is a gem. It’s truly amazing and whilst we had a full solid conclusion to the story which really kept me on the edge until the very end, I really wished to read more about these characters (especially Tor and Calden, I need more of them!!). The very last words of this story left me in tears, and Noni’s acknowledgements made me cry even more.
As soon as I started Prison Healer, Lynette Noni’s first instalment in the trilogy of the same name, I knew I was on to something special. The imagery explored in the setting of Zalindov, the strong female lead and that ending twist really made for a special book that I raved about to anyone that would listen. The Gilded Cage (the second book), didn’t grab me as much – it felt a lot like just set up for what was coming next and some of the YA love scenes and pining made my eyes roll. I was a little bit apprehensive, therefore about starting book 3!
I needn’t have worried; The Blood Traitor is just as good as The Prison Healer and really made for a special end to the trilogy. There’s an epic quest introduced as well as a lot of drama and plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested. Although the book is over 400 pages, it was paced really well and kept my interest throughout as I flew through it to find out what happened next.
In contrast to the previous book, there was quite a lot going on here with a lot of different cities and new characters to explore. I did almost feel like some of the plot could have been passed back to the second book, particularly as that one felt like filler at times. It did make for an exciting read though. I liked the addition of the new characters as well as some surprising returning faces as well. My only criticism is that Kiva really does suffer from ‘main character’ syndrome at times – everyone seems to love her no matter what she does and anything anyone does is always linked back to her. It makes her a bit exhausting as a hero character and I would have liked a few more flaws to be seen from her throughout the trilogy.
This is the last book in the trilogy and it does end well and wraps up all of the storylines in a neat way. I enjoyed how the final battle concludes and think it was probably the best outcome for everyone. I would love a follow up to see what happens to each of these characters in the future but whatever Lynette writes next I will be looking out for!
Overall, The Blood Traitor is the perfect end to a fantastic trilogy. Thank you to NetGalley & Hodder & Stoughton for the chance to read the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Okay, so this was a case of me having too high (and unrealistic) expectations.
I really liked The Prison Healer, I absolutely adored The Gilded Cage and went into this expecting to love it even more. And I do love the characters and the story, don't get me wrong, but I was expecting more from this. I was expecting epic.
There were a couple things that didn't sit right with me, like how there's a passing comment of some minor character being ace or bi when their sexual orientation is completely irrelevant to the story. As much as I appreciate the queer rep, I feel like it’s just thrown in there to check a box. Some aspects of the whole i-hate-you-but-i-don't-and-now-i'm-gonna-be-mean-and-then-be-sorry between Kiva and Jaren also didn't feel right. I get where they both come from and that the conflict there is very real after everything that went down in The Gilded Cage, but I wasn't fully into it. And the ending is too cookie-cutter. I don't even know if that's the way to describe it.
What I mean is this series is amazing for someone who's starting to read YA fantasy, I started early and 15 year-old me would still be crazy in love with this story. But I've read so much YA fantasy that I was expecting more, or maybe not more, but something different, an unexpected twist, something that would make me say "that is why I love this series so much".
I feel like this whole book was carried by Caldon and Cresta. Caldon stole the show in The Gilded Cage, I am head over heels in love with him and his friendship with Kiva is the best thing about this whole series. And Cresta, girl did you do a 180. Cresta is the real MVP of this book, I love her personality and her friendship with Kiva too.
Overall, I think it's a pretty solid trilogy as a whole and I'm very glad to have read it, it's just maybe more geared towards the younger side of YA or to those who are starting to get into fantasy.
3.5 stars
Holy shitballs guys.
The Prison Healer is officially one of my favorite series of all time. I'm completely obsessed with this world and each and every character in it, so much so that I dropped everything when I saw that I was approved for this ARC and devoured this in less than 24 hours while on a citytrip in Vienna.
This was the ending the series deserved, and I wouldn't change a freaking thing about this. My one complaint is that I wouldn't have minded another book... or five?!
This basically kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time and delivered some serious plot twists and caused several heart attacks. I feel as if I've been through an emotional wringer but I feel reborn now!
The Blood Traitor review
Overall rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
Thank you so much to For giving me an arc of one of my most anticipated books this year in exchange for an honest review
Honestly, this series had so much potential but it just didn’t go the way that I would have liked it to. I LOVED the first book it was set in the prison, it was exciting, full of secrets and mysteries. Then the second one I liked a bit less and this one just fell a bit flat for me.
The plot was weird as it focused on all new things that had never been mentioned in the previous books but they seemed super important so it felt like they came out of nowhere. The pacing was a bit off for me too and quite predictable.
Kiva really annoyed me in this one too. In the other books she was such a strong character but this one she was so annoying, constantly making everyone pity her, crying and feeling sorry for herself and her whole world revolved around Jaren. I wished she could have been her own character apart from Jaren as it felt like that was all that mattered.
Overall unfortunately not how I would have liked the series to go but the first book was amazing and I really like the authors ideas and some characters!
