Reading a classic monograph, particularly one from ancient times, is always a daunting task, but I am pleased to say that The Art of War, written by the mythic Chinese leader, Sun Tzu, was a quick and digestible read even for those of us without any military expertise. Broken into thirteen quick chapters, The Art of War mainly contains advice for prospective leaders that, while given in the context of war, also serves as strong guidance for how to forge bonds with your subordinates, practice self-discipline, and make quick decisions in times of crisis. Having now read this work, I can easily see why so many people today still find inspiration in Sun Tzu's words.

Classic books with content suitable to any time. We can't learn from modern books new information that we can from old times books and wisdom.

This is such a classic and I always enjoy a revamp of something that is kind of hard to read in order to make it easier to read.

Amber Books are quickly becoming a "must buy" publisher for me. I absolutely love their non-fiction books and James Trapp's new translation of Sun Tzu's 'The Art of War' is no exception.

The book is well-formatted with useful and informative footnotes that give the text greater context.

Whilst I cannot read Chinese, I really appreciated the inclusion of quotes and text written in Chinese as many English translated editions of The Art of War don't adequately acknowledge the original language in my opinion.

I have now ordered this book and look forward to seeing and feeling the binding that has been done using a traditional Chinese practice.

Thank you to NetGalley, Amber Books, and James Trapp for giving me a free digital copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review.
