This is extremely well written, obviously by a master. It stands alone, but does refer back to previous adventures Alex Cross and Bree have had. In this story the Family Man breaks into homes and kills the occupants - all of them are shot expertly, even the children. Alex is hot on his trail but crosses paths with famous author Thomas Tull, who wants to be in on the action, to provide material for his new book. Meanwhile Bree has been contracted to find out what was happening in the world of competing high fashion houses. The only sour note was the idea that a police officer would be on active duty while so heavily pregnant! Surely not!
The Alex character speaks in the first person, which is a little odd as so much narrative does not involve him. It might have been better to have the whole thing in the third person. Alex cannot know a lot of what is happening around the cases.
The result is a real page turner, and a very enjoyable read. Thank you to NetGalley, Random House UK and Cornerstone for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
As always James Patterson is a master storyteller. This is the 30th book in the cross series, it can be read as a stand alone as with most his books however I would say your in for a real treat to read from the very start. Along came a spider was an snaking start back in the 90’s and made a great film. Cords just keeps getting better and better and I always enjoy the high energy and action read.
The latest installment of Alex Cross. Full of hunting for a serial killer. Great book, Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.
Another highly entertaining and gripping novel featuring Alex Cross: I had fun and read it as fast as i could.
Patterson is a master storyteller and this story is one my favorite in this series.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine
Triple Cross is the 30th installment in the Alex Cross series but can be read as a standalone novel as James Patterson, does a good job of giving enough detail about the characters and their history to allow those who have not read the entire series to have an understanding of their motivations and relationships.
This is a fast-paced story with more than one thread and plenty of twists; whilst Alex is chasing the Family Man, his wife Bree has her own investigation going on, keeping the reader engaged and the pages turning.
With thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for sending me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
James Patterson and Alex Cross always deliver a good read. I have read most of his books and really recommend them. Love reading about the family aswell. Thanks for letting me read.
It’s that time of the year again and James Patterson whisks us away on Alex Cross’ latest adventure.
This time psychologist and detective Dr. Alex Cross investigates a serial killer dubbed the ‘Family Man’, who breaks into family homes at night, disabling the alarm system and killing the whole family, never leaving a trace.
Best-selling author Thomas Tull is also investigating the Family Man murders, making the murders the subject of his latest book. Each of his past best-selling books was written about a high-profile case that he helped solve.
Meanwhile Alex’ wife PI Bree Stone works a top secret case for the Blue Stone Group, investigating serious allegations against the fashion designer Duchaine in New York.
In typical Patterson fashion, the plot is fast-paced and packed to the brim with action, highly recommended.
Patterson is one of my favourite authors, I can read an Alex Cross novel no matter what mood I am in!
I particularly liked how the technological advances are used to solve the case. Nanna Mama’s food sounded delicious, as usual!
As always, I look forward to reading the next Alex Cross novel.
Thanks to NetGalley, Random House UK Cornerstone and James Patterson for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Alex Cross is on the hunt for a killer. One that is killing whole families. A famous writer is also investigating the crimes and claims he can help solve the crimes if Cross lets him into the inner circle. But that’s not the way Alex Cross works, and when more bodies pile up, the detective has to decide if the writer is just an eccentric person or is he a suspect. This will become one of the most difficult cases of his career. Can he figure it out before anyone else dies?
It’s safe to say that the Alex Cross series is still as good as ever.
James Patterson continues to write fast-paced, high quality and incredibly addictive stories. Triple Cross is a great example of highly remarkable talent. I very much look forward to the next book in this brilliant series and I thoroughly recommend this one.
Alex Cross book number 30. For as overwhelming as it might sound, this is the only series that i would actually read every single book. I have to catch up with a few from years ago but my goal for next year is to read them all.
That should tell you how much I love it and you should at least read the latest, Triple Cross.
Alex Cross is again in the spotlight and the investigation is taking him on an unknown terrain. A killer is set on families and there’s no trace of how he or she gets inside. One of the high stakes suspects is a well known author of true crimes that every now and then has helped investigations and did lots of interesting research for his own books.
He denies it and says that it’s allá set up by someone else.
I honestly couldn’t put this book down. I found it so intriguing and suspenseful, with many pieces of an unknown puzzle. The author has such a great gift of creating a story where you might think it goes on one direction but actually it takes a whole new turn. And here for it all. That’s always a big plus for me to enjoy the story wholeheartedly.
The addition of the pregnancy and the emotions of that moment were a nice touch that makes Cross such a real character.
I’m looking forward to seeing where Alex Cross goes next, because he is definitely a character worth of your time and thoughts.
A must read story that needed savoured.
🆓📖Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy through NetGalley
When a serial killer starts targeting families across Washington DC both Cross and Samson are asked by the FBI to help track the killer down.
But when novelist Thomas Tull who writes about serial killers want to get involved will he be a hindrance or a help in the investigation?
Alex's wife Bree has her own investigation going on leading her into the murky world of fashion!
This is the 30th Alex Cross novel and it's just as gripping as the 1st.
Once again this world renowned author has come out with another thrilling book. This is the latest in the Alex Cross series however it still reads well as a standalone.
This time Cross is investigating a serial killer who kills entire families in their homes without leaving any evidence for the police to follow up on. At the same time Cross's wife Bree had been commissioned to carry out her own investigation into business of a top fashion designer which opens up a whole can of worms.
The author expertly brings two high profile investigators together in a family life. The story reflects the family lifestyle where the grown up children lead their own lives and the family matriarch runs the kitchen.
A well constructed book with many twists and turns and thrills all the way through.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
You would think that after so many books written by James Patterson with Alex Cross as the lead character that the series would be stale. This is not the case. A fast moving story with many twists and turns which keeps you engaged from the beginning to the end.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK for the advance copy of this book.
Book 30 - wowsers! And I think I have actually read the majority - not 100% sure as I started reading them way before book logging and reviewing became a thing in my life. But I have definitely read enough to get the gist of the series arc that continues in this book. No spoilers though...
So, we have a nasty one at work. A killer who targets families. Striking at night, leaving no trace, not even how they got in. Leaving everyone completely flummoxed. We also have an author, one of true crime rather than fiction, who has assisted in cases before, pointing out things that the cops have missed. His interest in this case has been piqued and he is desperate to try and help. But is he more involved than he admits... exactly how does he "find" these new clues... All a bit iffy to Alex Cross...
This is one of my most beloved, long standing series of books. Now we have Bree (Alex's wife) the narrative is often split into what she is doing as well as him. And this book is no exception to that. She is in New York investigating the modelling world.
As well as all that, we take a peek, as usual, into Alex's home life. Boy how his kids are growing up fast. It's always nice to reconnect to them and see what they are up to, what has happened since we last dropped in, and their plans for their futures. It's again nice to see Sampson getting his priorities right with his own family of two. But that said, the onus of the book is firmly on the crimes, as you would expect and want. And they are both interesting and intriguing and confusing and, again everything you'd expect from the series and author.
And the ending, I promised no spoilers but I have to say that excited me, and made me all the more excited for the next book. Job well done on #30, bring on #31...
My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Whilst being part of the Alex Cross series, if you've not read any previously, this will not effect your reading of this novel. (But also worth going back to read others in this series).
Told mainly from Alex Cross and his current case, or his wife Bree's investigations. Kept me gripped from the first page until the last, now can't wait for the next in this series.
Another great novel by James Patterson, involving our hero Alex Cross, with so many twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes. Loved this book.
would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this exciting book
alex and samson are up against a killer who murders whole family.... from the parents to the children to the grandparents...all butchered and no rhyme or reason to it....
but also investigating all the murders is a well known author of true crimes and who is writing about these murders who he has named the the family man
bree also has a bit of sleuthing to do when she is hired to investigate a fashion icon and what she uncovers is very disturbing
tensions galore with this book with both cases pitting themselves against their adversaries
wow james patterson hasnt lost it, he seems to be going from strength to strength and with this book being book 30 in the cross series we can only hope that nothing bad happens to the cross family
A gripping page turner with two threads alternating through the book.
One involves criminal psychologist Alex Cross trying to track down a serial murderer, 'The Family Man' and another involving his wife Bree Stone, former chief of detectives and now working for a private security company, who is tasked with investigating the activities of a successful fashion designer.
This is the first James Patterson book I've read so I can't compare it with his other Alex Cross novels but I would think that fan of Michael Connelly and Lee Child would find this an enjoyable read.
Another brilliant book in the Alex Cross series.
There’s someone killing entire families in their homes at night, who has been named The Family Man.
Alex and Sampson are on the hunt for this killer and it’s a hard one to solve.
Bree is carrying out an investigation in the top end modelling world and it’s not a pretty sight. People are being killed at parties and it takes Bree a while to piece together why it’s happening.
There’s a link between the two cases which helps them solve them but a revelation at the end blows everything else into the water.
A brilliant crime thriller.
If you’ve not read this series, I highly recommend it.
Thanks to Random House UK and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
I have been reading James Patterson books for many years and my favourite are those with Alex Cross and his partner John Samson.
This is yet another fast paced gripping read, The Family Man killer has been killing entire families in a cold blooded, heartless manner.
A successful author and true crime writer, Thomas Tull had offered his help to Alex with the case, claiming he has spotted patterns, how far though will the writer go to have yet another best seller.
Alex’s Wife Bree is running a different case in New York, but the two cases seem to be connected.
An Alex Cross book never disappoints, and I believe this is book 30 and once again the last page leaves the reader wanting the next book. I am sure all James Patterson fans are like me and love the story to include family time, with delicious home cooked meals by Mama Nana who runs Alex’s home
Many thanks to Net Galley and Random House UK for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review. Another 5 star read for James Patterson
It has been a while since I've read an Alex Cross story as I used to read them all when they came out. I was glad that I chose to take this one on, as it is like his earlier works trying to guess who the perpetrator is and being thrown many clues to put the reader off the scent. It was good to see that Alex and his family have now settled down somewhat and that his grandmother is still hale and hearty!
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC to review.
