Review: I was lucky enough to have been allowed to read this one through Netgalley, thank you to the Author and Publisher for the opportunity. I have had cats all my life and will always jump at a chance to read a book about cats, this one combines that with the holiday season as well, what could go wrong?! This was such a silly and fun book to read. I loved the way the illustrations really brought the most out of the story. Yes, cats don't like change, they don't like having to dodge all the extra feet in the house but there is always something about the season to enjoy. What did the cat find to enjoy? Guess you will have to pick this one up to find out.

Rating: This is a great one for young and old cat lovers, it captures those furry friend's grumpy moods, feisty moods, and happy moods. It will have any cat owner say 'yup that is just like my cat'! I give it a rating of Four Paws.

My almost-4-year-old cat lover and embodiment of Christmas absolutely adored this book! The illustrations are lovely, the story is clever. My only complaint is there's a jump from hating to loving Christmas without touching on a realization of why. Highly recommend this Christmastime read! Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for this ARC!

Cat's Don't Like Christmas is a fun, humorous book for cat lovers and owners. I read this to my two youngest grandchildren and they identified with the cat in the story. I constantly heard, "Marmalade does that" or "Marmalade would scratch if you did that" etc.

It’s Christmas time, and the cat of the house doesn’t like it the least bit. The decorations and changes are a little too much for him/her. From the sticky tape, shiny balls, all the family that visits, and especially the noise. He can't sleep so comes up with a plan to escape the merriment. The text is written in a rhyming pattern that makes for a great read aloud cadence. There are only a few words on each page, so there is a lot of time to look at and discuss the wonderful illustrations. They are so detailed, large and colourful. There is a ball of yarn and a mouse hidden on each page and before we got to the end to realize that we could go back and look, my granddaughter (6 YO) had already realized that the mouse appeared on every page. We went back and the youngest was also able to do some seek and find. This will be a Christmas favourite for any family that has a pet as part of the household.

Funny & cute!

Love how unique the story is and how bright the pictures are. I like how it rhymes, flows, and is interesting. It does have an odd ending. After telling the reader how the cat hates the holiday, the last page says the opposite.. All-in-all, I recommend if you like cats and need a festive kids' book!

Cats Don’t Like Christmas is an adorable engaging read for children. The illustrations are bright, eye-catching and incredibly detailed. The writing was perfect for maintaining attention with its short and rhyming pages. My daughter laughed at the cat’s antics and really enjoyed the illustrations. A fun bonus was also searching for the mouse and yarn on each page. I’d definitely buy this for young children.

The illustrations are merry and bright. They shine on and off the pages. Well-done.

I love good satire, and this book did not disappoint. All the elements are there including the creepy cat lady. I enjoyed the simple mentions -- the pillows are different; oh what are those shiny objects.

The last page was a let down and lame. The book up to that point was in its entirety perfection.

The timing is perfect for gifting. This would make a cute hostess gift, and prior to pulling out all the decor, a family sit down and read could eliminate stress.

3.5/5

This is a very cute and funny book about cats and their antics around Christmastime! I definitely had a good chuckle at the sassy poem and it is very festive. It's also a unique Christmas story that explores how Christmastime can be a bit irritating as well as exciting, especially for the felines in our families. I also really liked how there was a hidden game of finding a mouse and yarn on each page. The illustrations were fantastic and bright - I think this book would be well enjoyed by younger readers.

The only reason my review isn't higher is because the book jumps from cats not liking Christmas to all of a sudden loving it without any clear reason as to why. I would have preferred it if there was a page or two with the cat reluctantly realizing that Christmas isn't so bad, because the resolution is quite sudden.

Short, sweet, and adorable. This is a great Christmas family read, particularly if your home has a cat. Through beautiful and funny illustrations it walks us through why holiday changes are disruptive to a cat’s daily life (noise, visitors, sticky tape on presents), yet quite welcome in the end (a tree to climb, ornaments to flick, happiness). It’s a breeze to read, and you’ll have so much fun discussing the cheery illustrations with your little ones.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for an advanced peek at this holiday read!

Cat's Don't like Christmas, and this book shows you the many reasons why! From grandmas to off-tune singing and the flickering lights of the Christmas tree to tinsel, twine, and twirly bows, these and more are the reasons why our feline friends.... LOVE Christmas. But you have to read it to find out exactly what parts are so loveable!

This book is ADORABLE! Told in verse, with so many little extra features, it provides a humorous look at how cats see Christmas time. I loved the twist ending and the extra touch of the positivity that the cat feels toward climbing up the tree. The inclusion of a map of the house with "cat spelling" that is phonetic is so cute! When I got to the end and learned that you can search each page for the cute little mouse as a fun way to enjoy the book in a new way I was tickled pink! Highly recommend!

The cat screams “Bah Humbug” in this cute rhyming look at a kitty Christmas.

I haven’t read the first book, “Cats Don’t Like That,” but it’s a clever and cute idea to engage kids, especially the ones that love kitties.

The rhyming is a bit tricky at the beginning, but eventually it falls into a good rhythm.

I really liked the illustrations, especially the out-of-the-box thinking with the cat’s hand overlapping the next page’s transition and the Christmas tree that gets you to change the book’s orientation. This is the part where I started being impressed by the book’s dynamic look and funny jokes. It was a little slow at first with the word choice. Some high points are the “Home Alone” type map of operations, the Christmas tree climb, and the desperation as the family arrives.

By the end, I’m really feeling bad for the cat who has given me a good deal of funny looks at his point of view in the holiday craziness. I’m not sure about him eventually liking the holiday, but it’s a cute touch.

Overall, I think my kids would like to read this book and enjoy the empathetic look at a cat’s version of Christmas.

What a cute book! I love the illustrations. If you could ask my cat how much he likes Christmas, I think he would agree he doesn't like the noise and disruption either. Luckily this cat learns to love Christmas.

What a holiday treat!

The cat has many comments and complaints about Christmas and the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

The illustrations are so adorable and the kids will love hunting for the mouse who is hiding on every page.

The not so silent "Silent Night" part was too funny!

I read this once to 3 little girls and then when it said to look for the mouse, we read it again while finding that cute mouse.

This is a book that children and children at heart can read and reread every single Christmas.

Who will like it? Children and adults who like cute and funny books with pictures that have lots of details on them.

Many thanks to BooksGoSocial, AndyWortlock and NetGalley for the advance copy of Cats Don't Like Christmas!

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book together. The story was funny, engaging and well told. The rhyme flowed excellently over each page and kept my daughter fully engaged throughout the entire story.

We both loved the illustrations (I absolutely adored them and want more!), although for some reason my daughter didn't like the granny - I found her quite amusing!

Definitely recommend, and will be seeking out the author's original book (Cat's Don't Like That) as well.

Cats Don't Like Christmas is a Hilarious Holiday Children's Book about all the things a cat hates about Christmas. My daughter who is 5 loved everything about this story. She loved all the pictures. They were so beautiful and bright. The illustrations were perfectly done to match each page. They definitely caught my daughters attention. Its a great story for kids Ages 3-7. The only thing i felt annoyed about was at the very end of the book was a page of a mouse holding up a sign saying Hey kids im hiding on every page . Try and find me and the yarn. So we then had to go back through the whole book so she could find it. I feel this page should have been at the beginning not the very end. It is available to read for free on kindle unlimited for anyone interested in reading it.
