This was a very fun story about a cat that really doesn't like the festive period. I found it enjoyable to read and it's definitely a book that younger children can interact with whilst reading. The illustrations are bright and colourful and it's definitely put me in the festive mood.
Cats don't like Christmas by Andy Wortlock is beautiful illustrated story for young children. It would be perfect to read to children during the run up to Christmas especially children who like cats. The illustrations are very eye-catching for younger children to enjoy the story. I will most certainly pick a copy of this book to read to my children. Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this storybook.
This was a beautifully illustrated and fun festive tale for young readers.
The cat explains his frustrations about Christmas in a tongue in cheek manner that I'm sure any adult reading will relate to!
The illustrations were gorgeously colourful and nostalgic feeling.
I loved the hidden mouse on each page for young eyes to find.
A charming festive and humorous book that would make a lovely gift.

This will be a fun new seasonal read for kids who love picture books, cats, and Christmas
This is a sing song story about all the things a cat hates about Christmas. From the sticky tape, shiny balls, all the family that visits. He can't sleep cause it's just to bright and loud. But In the end he admits he really does love it even though he gripes.
This was a really cute book. I loved the bright and detailed illustrations. The rhyming of this was a perfect fit for this story. I also love the detail that a small mouse is hiding on every page. My kids I know will eat this up.
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial got this advanced reader copy. My review is voluntary.
Cats Don’t Like Christmas by Andy Wortlock is a very cute Christmas book for children. My granddaughter loves animals especially cats. She would love to read this book with the Christmas pictures of how when everyone celebrates Christmas the cats get lost in the presents but they love to play in everything too. A wonderful Christmas story that involves animals in its pictures and illustrations. I loved it and cannot wait to read to my granddaughter.
Cats Don't Like Christmas!
5 Stars
Cats Don't Like Christmas is a fun, but corky holiday, picture book. It's told from the cat's perception. I loved the humorous cat illustrations and charming art style. What made this book so enjoyable for me is that many of these things have happened to our family. Our cat companion helped with wrapping presents, climbing the tree, and everything in between. This is a great book. I'd definitely work it into the holiday book rotation and recommend it to any cat-loving kiddos out there.
Thank you, NetGalley and BooksGoSocial, for an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book will make a good addition to Christmas collections. Told from the point of view of the cat, Cats Don't Like Christmas is a rhyming and entertaining read. For example, "What happened to a Silent Night? I hope it gets here soon..."accompanied by the colorful illustrations causes the reader to laugh out loud. The market is saturated by Christmas picture books, but this one is so unique that I believe it should be added to libraries that serve ages 5-10. The humor might be too old for the littlest readers, but mid to upper elementary readers should get a kick out of it.
What a fun and clever holiday book! The rhyming patterns are a fun way to tell this story about thins changing. The illustrations are just as fun as the story. This nana approves! Thanks #NetGalley #SplashBooks
Cats Don’t Like Christmas by Andy Wortlock is a cute story about a cat who, as the title states, doesn’t like Christmas. The cat doesn’t like all the changes in decor and how his things have been rearranged. The little cat soon finds the Christmas tree and all of the wrapped presents. As all cats tend to do, the cat decides to explore this new tree and all of its beauty. The cat finds some mischief throughout the rest of the book and you can imagine how that goes.
I recommend this read to all young children. Perfect quick bedtime story for all little ones who will love the rhymes and funny situations.
“That was perfect!” Direct quote from my six year old. The story was quick and fun and she loved going back and finding the hidden mouse on each of the pages!
Thank you Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
Cats Don't Like Christmas is a fun book that would be perfect to enjoy during the lead up to the holiday. The illustrations are beautifully done and my six year old son loved the picture find activity. If you have a sassy cat, or a little one that loves kitties, this is the Christmas book to pick up.
A delightful fun book for all ages! My seven year old grandson and I absolutely adored it. The pictures are vivid. The story is fun. We have 7 cats and we laughed ourselves silly because we could see ours in this book. A must read!! Thanks #netgalley and #BooksGoSocial for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.
A fun and festive read for both kids and adults!
Cats Don't Like Christmas! is a colorful and beautifully illustrated book featuring a cat's thoughts on Christmas. I find it amusing for both kids and adults, with the cat's facial expressions to delight a kid. It's enjoyable and relatable, especially to the families that celebrate Christmas and its traditions, and an excellent short book for kids to enjoy leading up to the holidays.
Thank you, NetGalley and BooksGoSocial, for the e-ARC.
This is such a cute story and was such a joy to read with my son.
The illustrations are so bright and there is so much detail that it keeps your attention for quite some time!
We really enjoyed the little added bonus of trying to find the little mouse on each page. I have a feeling that this is a book that will be re read quite a bit in our house!
This was such a fun Christmas book!! The rhyming was great for the theme, the artwork was cute and one of my favorite things was there was a twist. In a kids book! Then to add the hidden game feature was even cooler! It is definitely a great book that kids will love to read over and over!!
Wonderful story, of what I assume, is an accurate story of how cats feels about Christmas. The Map to hide from the humans was a nice touch.
I think kids will love reading the story and then going back to really look at the pictures. The addition of mouse and yarn search on every page was a nice touch
I adore this book. I have 2 cats, and this will be our first Christmas with them, so I am a mix of anxious and excited to see how they react to everything.
This story is super cute, and the illustrations are adorable! I love how it lets us see the perspective of the cat and how things in the house changing can be a lot for them. This is a book to keep on the shelves and reread every year we bring out the Christmas tree.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
A cute and colorful book about Christmas from a cats point of view. The end pages give kids a reason to read it again and again to try and find the hidden items on every page.
FIrst I love cats so this is a great book for me even as an adult. I could see my cats thinking exactly like this book at Christmas. The pictures are adorable and fit well with the story. This is a great childrens books, especially if they love cats. Even if they don't love cats, animals and holidays make a great combination! Even better it is part of a series!
Cats Don’t Like Christmas is an adorable story about a cat and all the changes it’s humans make to the house during the holidays. This story is perfect for families experiencing their first, or their fiftieth holiday season with a pet. And for kids who have sensory challenges or other aversions to change, this book could help explain what to expect and open the door to conversations about the cat’s opinions and if the kids agree. I am looking forward to sharing it with my kids during their first Christmas season with their new kitten!
Cute, funny, I will read this to my kids and grandkids.
The illustrations are wonderful and interesting.
I recommend this book to child care centers.
What a fun book! I really liked the illustrations and the story was cute as well. I think kids who like cats are going to love this book. I also found out that the author had a few Cats Don't Like That books, so now I need to go find those to read, too.
Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this digital ARC!
I loved this book. My son liked the pictures. The cat is funny and shows all the things from a cats point a view
Thank you for the EARC of Cats Don’t Like Christmas. This is the sweetest book about why cats and Christmas. Any kid with a kitty or who likes cats will enjoy this book. I loved all the illustrations plus the fun little game you don’t know about until the end. Will be buying for my nephews!
This is absolutely an adorable book for all ages. The art is awesome, the colors so bright and merry!
Poor cat does not like Christmas but it sure sees some things that make it worthwhile, such as the tree! There is a little hide and seek mouse that we get to find on each page, too!
Thank you #NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for letting me read and review #CatsDontLikeChristmas by Andy Wortlock!
A hilarious tale about a cat who is a complete Scrooge around Christmas. This silly story will get kids laughing during the coldest and darkest months of the year and in the mood for the Christmas season.
This is short, with an easy to follow and easy to read story. The details and little additions you see beyond the text really make it fun to explore each page and there are new little things you notice each time your read it. This would be a great story to read each year and make a new family tradition. The illustrations are cartoonish and vivid to keep the children engaged through the story.
This also has an underlying message of dealing with change and the hustle and bustle around holidays that may be overwhelming for some people. It shows kids that not everyone they meet might be in a festive spirit. It also teaches a great lesson about why real life pets at home may dislike the holidays and things like the lights, tree and ornaments. It can be a great way to teach kids about people with sensory disorders too. Or just read it just for fun.
Make the holiday merry and bright with this book.
4.5 Stars
It’s Christmas time, and the cat of the house doesn’t like it the least bit. The decorations and changes are a little too much for the cat. Poor thing.
The book is short, with just a handful of words on each page. The illustrations are cartoonish, funny, and super cute. A little mouse appears on each page (which I found really cute), only to realize that it was a sort of game for the kids to find it.
The last illustration has a teeny mouse on a teeny bed and two home slippers bedside the bed. Imagine that! This is like another version of Tom & Jerry, lol.
And… Gran has curly purple locks like a mop on her head. The fun part of the book is in the detailing. Another example is the chart with the plan of action made by the cat. The hoomuns are listed on the side with photos.
To summarize, Cats Don't Like Christmas! is a quirky little book showing what cats think of Christmas.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and BooksGoSocial and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed this book immensely. I know my students would get a kick out of the humor being used. My favorite part was at the end, when a character is shown and tells the reader they were on every page. It’s a fantastic idea to re-engage the child and read the book again!
This book was so fun! We have 3 cat in our house, so we are very aware of cats and all the Christmas time shenanigans they get into. This book had catchy lines, beautiful artwork, and it was very easy for my kids to follow along. My kids laughed at everything the cat got into so you know its one they will enjoy reading multiple time throughout Christmas season and even outside of it!
A beyond adorable story following a family cat who is NOT thrilled with Christmas! From the lights being on all night that don't allow for a good night sleep, to granny visiting and petting him roughly and the wrong way- our feline narrator is OVER it before it begins. Like a lot of us, change can be overwhelming at first until we start to see that everything is still OK- not all change is bad!
I loved everything about this book! The rhyming, the silliness, and the illustrations are sure to entertain and engage a young kiddo (and a 32 year old...cough, cough ME cough, cough...!)
This was my first seasonal read for 2022 and it really got me needing more! I know everyone is all about Halloween and Fall, but I say BRING ON THE SNOW AND THE MISTLETOE!
Very excited to follow the Cat's Don't Like books by Andy Wortlock, this was the sweetest story to get me in the Holiday mood
This was a cute Christmas book featuring a grumpy, Christmas disliking cat. I love the hide and seek at the end of the book, I honestly didn't even notice the items until I was told there was one hiding on each page. Then I had to go back and find them all.
A great addition to every Christmas library.
The book cover caught my eye because I have a gray cat we got as a kitten right before Christmas. She was a little stinker as a kitten. She didn’t want to wear a collar so she hid and I went crazy trying to find her. This book reminded me of her. One thing my cats have never done is climb the Christmas tree.
It’s a whimsical Christmas book with a cat who likes to hide when the relatives gather to celebrate. Who can blame her?! They’re noisy and wild. Then the truth comes out about how she really loves the lights and wrappings.
At the end there are a few activities your child can do—find the hidden mouse and yarn on each page, plus a QR code for more fun stuff. The illustrations are clever and sweet.
I received a copy of this book for my opinion.
What a great holiday book for children. The pages have grumbling cat rhymes and fun illustrations. There is even a search activity on each page. It is funny and festive oh, so Merry! Your kids will love it!
This holiday book is adorably delightful. Anyone who has a cat can relate to the feline antics that are captured perfectly in these pages. The silly story and whimsical pictures bring the story to life. Every cat lover and Christmas enthusiast will love this story.
There's an extra touch of added fun searching for a hidden mouse throughout the story. I would definitely recommend this book!
Thank you Net Galley and Books Go Social for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I thought that this was an enjoyable book and it was plenty of fun!
The story was easy to follow and it was fun to read with my daughter - it was lovely to read and share and we both really enjoyed it
She has recently learnt to read in Reception at school so it was great that we could read it together
The illustrations are lovely and they really bring the story to life too - it is a fun Christmas read and I can't wait to read it again nearer Christmas Day
It is five stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!
A rhyming picture book with hilarious illustrations, a Christmassy theme, and a feline main character: what's not to love?!
Cat's Don't Like Christmas is a charmingly written story following one particular cat's grievances with the festive season. He doesn't like the constant out of tune singing and house guests, nor the flashing lights that stop him from sleeping. Naturally, however, he changes his mind by the end of the story and realises how much he DOES like the season! A few more pages would have been welcomed, for example explaining why the cat admits that he likes Christmas, but I admit that I'd just love to see more of Nahum Ziersch's illustrations!
The rhymes are gorgeous, just like all the pictures, and it's the perfect book to get you in the festive spirit. To add to all this, the end pages reveal that an adorable little mouse - and a ball of yarn - are hiding on every page. This gives you an excuse to immediately flick back through the book, though I can almost guarantee you'd have been tempted to do that anyway!
I enjoyed this so much that I'll be looking out for any more books in the 'Cat's Don't Like' series, and I can't wait to get my hands on the original 'Cat's Don't Like That!'
Cats don’t like Christmas was adorable, hilarious, and beautifully illustrated! My 4&5 year olds loved all the silly rhymes and a cat getting up to no good! We also loved the little search and find surprise at the end! Such a great addition to put in your Christmas library for preschool age kiddos! I think anyone older than 5 would lose interest pretty quickly, but great for 5 and under!
Thank you NetGalley for our copy in exchange for my honest feedback!
This was a cute christmassy story for early readers. The illustrations were adorable, and there’s a rhyming pattern throughout to practice phonological awareness skills.
Every kid I know who loves cats or Christmas would get a kick out of this book. The rhythm of the text worked well with the story, and the illustrations helped bring everything together.
This is the perfect quirky little character for a holiday bedtime story. You guess it – this one features a cat that thinks Christmas is way too over hyped. The poor little cat is distracted by all of the shiny ornaments, has had all of his favorite cushions and pillows changed, and is constantly getting stuck in tap, wrapping paper, and ribbons. After listing all of the many reasons the cat doesn’t like Christmas, though….. He ends up admitting that cats don’t just like Christmas… They love it. This one will have the little ones cracking up and holding onto their furry friends for the rest of the holiday season!
I love a good grumpy cat book, but this one certainly has a twist.
A hilarious read for Scrooge’s and Santa’s Elves alike, this picture book looks at Christmas from the perspective of a cat who tells it how it is.
Favourite line: What happened to Silent Night. I hope it gets here soon.
Please note the formatting of this copy wasn’t ideal on Kindle.
Cats don’t like Christmas is the cats POV about the big holiday. It’s silly and is a great read for any kiddo that has cats. Did the cat shred a present under the tree? Read this book. Did the cat climb the tree? Read this book. Did the cat play with the ornaments? Read this book. This is a great book to bring home this Christmas season.
A very cute book about a cat who is starting to stress because Christmas time is here. That means a change to the house with decorations, lots of people, loud music and a tree he can’t play with. But, maybe, just maybe it’s not all that bad!?! Love the illustrations.
This festive story is such a great read for preschool aged kids! As a speech therapist and mom of 2, I can easily see how this book could be used to teach perspective taking and work on making inferences. The illustrations are quality and engaging and the story’s rhyme reads so well!
Perfect book for the holidays for the little cat lovers in your life!! It’s a quick read so perfect for bedtime. The illustrations are so bright and festive your little ones will want to read this over and over!
Prediction? This book is going down as a Christmas favourite this year. I love it! Suggestion? Buy one now to tuck away and give as a Christmas present. What a delightful story to share during the Christmas season.
An adorable little cat narrates why humans make too much fuss over this holiday season. Why Hallowe'en is barely packed away when POOF!!! all the Christmas decorations are unpacked and ready to go. Lights twinkle, music blares and a giant tree appears right inside the house. The speedy changes are overwhelming and hard to take in. Does little cat become a Scrooge and say"Humbug" to the splendour and frivolity or does he embrace the sticky tape, unending wrapping paper, shiny balls and intrusive family visitors? What do you think?
The rhyming words flow freely and are extremely
melodic. The detailed humorous illustrations are pitch perfect and animate the text to perfection.
"Cats Don't Like Christmas!" is Volume 2 of Cat's Don't Like. It's a companion to the award winning, "Cats Don't Like That." Both young and old will love this entertaining book that is spot on to get you into the holiday spirit. I highly, highly recommend it.
Myself and my 5 year old son really loved Cats Don't Like Christmas! It is such a fun story with great illustrations and is a great read to get us into the Christmas spirit.
Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for my ARC.
I loved it. It reminded of the first cat my sister had. Fidel. Although he was a tabby cat. This book is so cute, I loved the illustrations. Loved it!
I absolutely love this fun book, and the cheery illustrations. The illustration style is so light hearted.
A great read for any cat lovers. Our cats aren’t too happy when we rearrange things, but they usually get on board when they realize it’s the Christmas “toys” to explore. This is a cute story with lots of scenes to explore together while reading.
My 8 year old daughter chose to read this book based on her love of cats. We also read it together.
Cats Don't Like Christmas is a funny, rhyming book from a cats point of view that doesn't like the changes happening around his house in preparation for the holiday season.
We really enjoyed the silly facial expressions and the cats grumpy thoughts throughout. However, the ending was quick and my daughter said "that's weird" upon realizing the book was over. I thought it had a cute ending, it just took the cat some time to get used to all the changes and realized they weren't so bad after all.
Thank you to NetGalley for the Advanced Reading Copy of Cat's Don't Like Christmas.
Cats Don't Like Christmas is a rhyming children's book about a cat that does not like the holiday season and all it entails. The cat does not like the change around the house - the decorations are abundant and even his pillows are changed. However, the more the cat thinks about it, the more he finds to love.
With a little hide-and-seek activity for kids, this book will bring a lot of fun for all. The drawings are whimsical and the facial expressions really convey the emotion in this story. A quick story with a holiday flair, Cats Don't Like Christmas is a good book for a gift or a family activity.
Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy of Cats Don't Like Christmas!: A Hilarious Holiday Children's Book for Kids. The decision to read and review this book was entirely my own.
Me and my 5 year old read this together. The pictures are brilliant illustrated. They are simple but fit with the stories narrative. Showing why cats don't like Christmas. Showing all the different experiences the cats go through on this holiday season. My 5 year old though it was really funny ending.
'I enjoyed reading about the cats' ' M aged 5
A cute, fun and breezy read for kids during Christmas time. The drawings were detailed and helped the story along. "Cats don't like Christmas, they love it!" This book would be absolutely perfect for kids and kids who love cats to read during the holidays.
Thanks to Netgalley for giving me a digital arc in exchange for an honest review.
This is a cute story. The author has a clever way to show the various things that can bother pets at Christmas time. The noise, the tree, guests and decorations are mentioned in short rhyming sentences. The illustrations are bright, colorful and pleasing. I love that a tiny mouse is hidden in the pages giving a search and find bonus to the story for interaction.
The story ends with a sweet surprise. This book would make a nice gift for children during the holiday season. I think it is a fun read. I received a copy from the publisher and NetGalley. This is my own unsolicited opinion. I'd buy it for children in my family.
Cat's Don't Like Christmas is a cute and funny read. I loved the illustrations and how they depict each phrase/sentence written in a rhyming pattern. I wouldv'e loved it even better if there were more hilarious lines and illustrations!
Cats Don't Like Christmas is the perfect Christmas read for little people. The illustrations are well drawn and so colourful, they compliment the story so incredibly well. My youngest found it so much fun, as it was told from the cat's perspective and I loved being able to read and act it well for them. Definitely a must for any Christmas Eve box, or just for the lead into the Holiday season.
This is an adorable Christmas picture book to share with little kids.
The illustrations are cute.
I enjoy reading this book!
🎄 I broke my own rule and read a Christmas-themed book before December!! But I’m making an exception and allowing children’s books to be read out of season! 😊
🎄 First things first… the illustrations are super cute and downright funny! There is one illustration with a grandmother that made me LOL. Kids will love it.
🎄 This is a simple book about all of the Christmas things that the cat doesn’t like. He can’t play with the tree, relatives come over and invade his space, wrapping paper and tape are everywhere, blinking lights keep him awake, and more! There is so much stress for the kitty!!! But does the cat REALLY dislike Christmas? You’ll have to read it to find out.
🎄 There is a fun little interactive element to this adorable picture book where readers must look for the mouse and yarn on each page.
🎄 If you have kids and a cat, you will love this book!
Thank you @NetGalley and @BooksGoSocialGroup for an eARC of this book, which I have read and reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This was so cute and my daughter loves cats so it was a win for her. Great artwork and funny story.
Cats don’t like Christmas?
What?
Every little one will enjoy the bright colours and the dippy rhymes of a cat’s tour through his house that has been newly Christmas-ified. See the tinseled-up world of Christmas spirit through the eyes of a cat who finds his world suddenly brighter, noisier, and people-ier than before!
Every Christmas-loving child will be delighted by the final pages when the cat reveals his Christmas-truth (spoiler alert: cats don’t HATE Christmas).
Once they’ve read through it once, little ones get to go back and search for the mouse and ball of yarn on every page.
A fine addition to a child’s bookshelf - and to my “cats” bookshelf, too!
Such a charming, funny, cat-ish holiday book. I liked the rhymes and it was great fun looking for the mouse and the yarn in every picture. It will certainly delight children.
What an adorable book! My kiddos would love it for Xmas time and I can hear their laughs as the cat climbs the tree and gets tangled in the ribbon. I thought this was going to be like “Bad Kitty” but this stands alone as a great series.
A cute little holiday book about a grumpy cat who hates Christmas.
It’s cute and has good illustrations.
Perfect to read during the holiday season before bed.
Short and sweet.
Adorable holiday picture book! The illustrations are cute and fun. The text is amusing. Young children will really enjoy this book. It was written with an understanding of stereotypical cat behavior. Families who have pet cats will appreciate the funny things their cats do presented in this book.
The author/illustrator hid a small drawing of a mouse on every page. This is mentioned at the end of the book. If I went back to look for the mice, children definitely will.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This feline-tastic book is an adorable and hilarious picture book detailing all of the annoyances cats face during a busy family Christmas. Each page features a clever rhyme and is beautifully illustrative of the narration, full of wit and charm!
As a mega cat lover, I feel like there is also an important tale to tell here: with compassion and empathy, we can enjoy Christmas while not pestering our pets too much, if only our family and guests let them have adequate quiet time in addition to love, and affection.
Make sure to read until the end because every page features a hidden mouse! Enjoy finding these together with your little ones (or, in my case, my cat Olivia who was eager to spot them!).
Highly recommended! Purrfect for kids and adults (and cats!), too!
Thank you to NetGalley for this review copy. All opinions are my own.
I read this on netgalley. It's a short cute story! It would be a perfect book to read to kids who love cats!
Oh my goodness! Cats Don’t Like Christmas is the BEST Christmas children’s book I’ve read in years! It was so much fun and any cat lover and owner will tell you how true it all is!!
My daughter and I absolutely loved reading this together and we will be picking up a copy of the book to add to our holiday collection this year! ❤️
Thank you so much to booksgosocial/ Splash Books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
A wonderful rhyming book about a cat who doesn’t like all the changes that come at Christmas time. This was really funny and an absolutely wonderful read, the cat had so much personality. I loved the grouchy cat pointing out everything that has changed and been put out for the holidays, how excessive everything is and how much he hates everything. It was so funny and done in a fun rhyming way.
The illustrations were fun and I loved that you can also play a little game whilst reading to find the mouse and yarn hidden on each page. A really cute Christmas book that I recommend, it’s fun, funny and easy to read. Kids will be laughing and it’s a story following a grouchy cat what’s not to love.
First, I want to thank Andy Wortlock, Nahum Ziersch, Books Go Social and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.
Cat lovers young and old will just adore this adorable Christmas story! Both Andy and Natum make an incredible team creating this fun story with the graphics that just pop! This duo will have you laughing hysterically with the antics! This is such a cute and fun read that will get you in the Christmas spirit!
If you have a younger child who happens to love cats and wants everything cat-related and cat themed in their life, this is a perfect Christmas gift for them! The story is super fun, the drawings are even more fun, and the book is a quick and fun read to enjoy together with the child.
A sincere thank you for providing me an advanced copy of “Cats Don’t Like Christmas!” in exchange for an honest review. I am grateful to have had the opportunity and leave my review voluntarily.
This was a cute picture book with a cat lovers spin. The illustrations were good and I found it a fun read.
Thanks BooksGoSocial via NetGalley.
This was SUCH a cute and fun read! As someone who has two cats and a baby, this book perfectly captured a cute idea of what cats think around Christmas time. It rhymes and has good rhythm as well. The illustrations are cute and you can even do a little search for a mouse on each page to add to the fun!
For anyone who loves silly books about mischievous cats, or for cat owners whose own cat doesn’t like Christmas (I know mine loves to hide in the Christmas tree!) This this a funny & festive book for all readers alike…even if you’re not a cat-person!
Me and my son absolutely loved this book. My son found it humorous and he was delighted to find out that he had to look for the mouse and ball of wool on each page. I loved that detail too as it meant he really studied the pictures and noticed things that he wouldn't necessarily have noticed otherwise. A great book for cat lovers with a lovely ending.
Beautifully illustrated and enjoyable read of an adorable little grumpy cat, me and my son both enjoyed it!
Princess Fuzzypants here: If you are looking for a fun Christmas-y book to share with your young readers, this one will delight. The kitty in the title shows all the reasons why a cat would dislike Christmas with all the fuss, bother and kerfuffle. It disrupts the routine, which we kitties know is paramount to a happy home. He shows all the things in a series of adorable pictures and cute rhymes. And he gets all the way to the end before he announces the biggest surprise.
Cats don’t dislike Christmas. They love it. And so will you love this book. Five purrs and two paws up.
My 8-year-old nephew loved this book! He loved the premise of the story and the characters. He's ready for the next book.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the eARC!
This is a cute story about Christmas in a cats perspective. Any cat lover would love and truly understand the story. Colorful pictures make it inviting for young readers. The story made me smile!

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Cats Don't Like Christmas is a Hilarious Holiday Children's Book about all the things a cat hates about Christmas. My daughter who is 5 loved everything about this story. She loved all the pictures. They were so beautiful and bright. The illustrations were perfectly done to match each page. They definitely caught my daughters attention. Its a great story for kids Ages 3-7. The only thing i felt annoyed about was at the very end of the book was a page of a mouse holding up a sign saying Hey kids im hiding on every page . Try and find me and the yarn. So we then had to go back through the whole book so she could find it. I feel this page should have been at the beginning not the very end. It is available to read for free on kindle unlimited for anyone interested in reading it.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book together. The story was funny, engaging and well told. The rhyme flowed excellently over each page and kept my daughter fully engaged throughout the entire story.
We both loved the illustrations (I absolutely adored them and want more!), although for some reason my daughter didn't like the granny - I found her quite amusing!
Definitely recommend, and will be seeking out the author's original book (Cat's Don't Like That) as well.

What a holiday treat!
The cat has many comments and complaints about Christmas and the hustle and bustle of the holidays.
The illustrations are so adorable and the kids will love hunting for the mouse who is hiding on every page.
The not so silent "Silent Night" part was too funny!
I read this once to 3 little girls and then when it said to look for the mouse, we read it again while finding that cute mouse.
This is a book that children and children at heart can read and reread every single Christmas.
Who will like it? Children and adults who like cute and funny books with pictures that have lots of details on them.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for this super cute fun read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.
What a cute book! I love the illustrations. If you could ask my cat how much he likes Christmas, I think he would agree he doesn't like the noise and disruption either. Luckily this cat learns to love Christmas.
This book is ADORABLE! Told in verse, with so many little extra features, it provides a humorous look at how cats see Christmas time. I loved the twist ending and the extra touch of the positivity that the cat feels toward climbing up the tree. The inclusion of a map of the house with "cat spelling" that is phonetic is so cute! When I got to the end and learned that you can search each page for the cute little mouse as a fun way to enjoy the book in a new way I was tickled pink! Highly recommend!
Cat's Don't like Christmas, and this book shows you the many reasons why! From grandmas to off-tune singing and the flickering lights of the Christmas tree to tinsel, twine, and twirly bows, these and more are the reasons why our feline friends.... LOVE Christmas. But you have to read it to find out exactly what parts are so loveable!

Short, sweet, and adorable. This is a great Christmas family read, particularly if your home has a cat. Through beautiful and funny illustrations it walks us through why holiday changes are disruptive to a cat’s daily life (noise, visitors, sticky tape on presents), yet quite welcome in the end (a tree to climb, ornaments to flick, happiness). It’s a breeze to read, and you’ll have so much fun discussing the cheery illustrations with your little ones.
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for an advanced peek at this holiday read!
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for accepting my request to read and review Cats Don't Like Christmas!

Genre: Children's Fiction -- Humor & Satire
The illustrations are merry and bright. They shine on and off the pages. Well-done.
I love good satire, and this book did not disappoint. All the elements are there including the creepy cat lady. I enjoyed the simple mentions -- the pillows are different; oh what are those shiny objects.
The last page was a let down and lame. The book up to that point was in its entirety perfection.
The timing is perfect for gifting. This would make a cute hostess gift, and prior to pulling out all the decor, a family sit down and read could eliminate stress.
Cat's Don't Like Christmas is a fun, humorous book for cat lovers and owners. I read this to my two youngest grandchildren and they identified with the cat in the story. I constantly heard, "Marmalade does that" or "Marmalade would scratch if you did that" etc.
It’s Christmas time, and the cat of the house doesn’t like it the least bit. The decorations and changes are a little too much for him/her. From the sticky tape, shiny balls, all the family that visits, and especially the noise. He can't sleep so comes up with a plan to escape the merriment. The text is written in a rhyming pattern that makes for a great read aloud cadence. There are only a few words on each page, so there is a lot of time to look at and discuss the wonderful illustrations. They are so detailed, large and colourful. There is a ball of yarn and a mouse hidden on each page and before we got to the end to realize that we could go back and look, my granddaughter (6 YO) had already realized that the mouse appeared on every page. We went back and the youngest was also able to do some seek and find. This will be a Christmas favourite for any family that has a pet as part of the household.
This was a super cute, quick read that is appropriate for small children who will love the quick rhymes. I loved the cute illustrations.
Kids absolutely loved this story. It was clever and well written. The illustrations were done very well. My daughter asked to read it every night.
My almost-4-year-old cat lover and embodiment of Christmas absolutely adored this book! The illustrations are lovely, the story is clever. My only complaint is there's a jump from hating to loving Christmas without touching on a realization of why. Highly recommend this Christmastime read! Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for this ARC!
Review: I was lucky enough to have been allowed to read this one through Netgalley, thank you to the Author and Publisher for the opportunity. I have had cats all my life and will always jump at a chance to read a book about cats, this one combines that with the holiday season as well, what could go wrong?! This was such a silly and fun book to read. I loved the way the illustrations really brought the most out of the story. Yes, cats don't like change, they don't like having to dodge all the extra feet in the house but there is always something about the season to enjoy. What did the cat find to enjoy? Guess you will have to pick this one up to find out.
Rating: This is a great one for young and old cat lovers, it captures those furry friend's grumpy moods, feisty moods, and happy moods. It will have any cat owner say 'yup that is just like my cat'! I give it a rating of Four Paws.
This was a cute read for the holiday season. Great for cat lovers! My kids, 8 and 4, enjoyed it but I would say this book targets more of the 2-5 year old range. Thanks for the story!
This is such a cute and festive read! I’m a sucker for anything with animals and add in Christmas and it’s the perfect read for this season.
The illustrations are absolutely adorable. The story is really cute and funny, I my favorite was the page with operation Christmas. Just all in all a perfect book to get the kid in your life for Christmas.
The added bonus of the little game within the story, finding the mouse on every page was such a cute extra.
An absolutely delightful, Christmassy read for cat fans! Full of attractive, engaging pictures and a humourous, rhyming story this would be a lovely addition to any young readers (3+) collection. The story is super cute and the detailled pictures mean this book just begs to be reread time and again. I can see this becoming a firm favourite in many feline friendly homes this festive season!
Thanks to NetGalley.co.uk and Splash Books for the free eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is such a great story. I love the illustrations and the "attitude" of the cat...so them.
Totally will tell my fellow librarians..definite buy
Great job!
This book was adorable! I read it with my daughter, who adores cats, and she especially loved the rhyming and the illustrations.
Who doesn't love grumpy cats and their dislike for human traditions? :) Brilliant illustrations and great humour! A book not only for the Christmas season.
Thank you NetGalley and Splash Books for a copy of "Cats Don't Like Christmas!" in exchange for my honest review.
This book is perfect for children in preschool or kindergarten. It is full of wonderful, colourful illustrations with a very cute cat.
The cat doesn't understand the changes in the house - all the decorations, the tree - he can't sleep from all the twinkling lights, all the extra family that arrives and all the noise. In reality he admits that he really loves Christmas.
This is a cute holiday picture book about why cats hate Christmas! Or do they?
The illustrations are darling and perfectly capture cats' general grumpy nature. This book celebrates the festivities of Christmas, which is everything a cat hates apparently (except the Christmas tree!). A wonderful rhyming story perfect for any children's library!
Thank you to NetGalley, author Andy Wortlock, and BooksGoSocial publishers for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review. This is one I will be adding to our Christmas children's book collection!
This is a funny and pacey rhyming picture book all about Christmas from the point of view of a cat. As a cat owner, I could relate to many parts of the book and found it very funny, I'm sure children would love it! The illustrations are colourful and fun and fit well with the words in the story. I love the hidden character on every page as an extra activity as you read!
This is a delightful children’s book about a cat who thinks cats don’t like Christmas, and, who demonstrates why cats don’t like Christmas through several adorable pictures.
And now I’m giving away the ending : it turns out that cats DO like Christmas, at least the one in this adorable book does.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and NetGalley.
I love this book, and I know kids will too! Every cat owner knows what chaos Christmas decorations can bring! In this story, told from the cat's perspective, the humans are the problem, they brought all this new stuff in and expect him not to climb the tree? With large but expressive font choices will draw the reader in and with only a few short, rhyming lines per page it will be relatively easy for young readers to read independently. The illustrations are great and the writing is funny and really well done! I would definitely consider purchasing a copy for my classroom library and will be recommending this one for readers in the age 4-8 range! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this fun book!
My son and I read this for bedtime. He has a cat, so I thought this would be fitting. He loved it. I loved the graphics as well, great illustrations and quite funny. We related to all these cat problems lol My son especially loved the little seek at find at the end of the book. All around wonderful Christmas read that the kids will enjoy and want to engage in.
I received this book from NetGalley and the publishers to read and review. All of the statements above are my true opinions after fully reading this book.
Cats Don't Like Christmas! by Andy Wortlock is a delight to read. The prose has a lyrical quality and I can't wait to read this out loud to my niece. The illustrations by Nahum Ziersch are a perfect complement to the text. There is a fun little activity for readers to try - find a hidden mouse and yarn ball on each page. I also liked how real and accurate this book is in its depiction of cats vs Christmas. In fact, I believe all cat parents must have a copy of this book as a cautionary reminder to ensure that their holiday celebrations are pet-safe. I'm excited to find out that this is the second book in a series - looking forward to reading the first book, as well as the activity book and any subsequent sequels.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the digital ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. #NetGalley #CatsDontLikeChristmas
Any cat owner ( or to put it more accurately, anyone who is owned by a feline!) would love this fun, festive picture book with its bright illustrations and references to typical, sometimes infuriating, cat behaviour. I recognised similarities with my own two moggies attitudes and the story made me smile. I personally love Christmas but just like the cat in this story my pampered pets have a love/hate relationship with the holiday. Great fun, this amusing story has won a place on my Christmas bookshelves.
This is a cute story about Christmas from the point of view of a cat. Not text heavy at all and told through rhyme, this funny book will surely be enjoyed by all but especially the cat loving kids you know. The illustrations are wonderful and funny. A great addition to holiday book collections.
Miss Seven says: "It's great and perfect and brilliant. I love that in the end the cat has to admit [spoiler]. I like the drawings, I like the rhymes, I like everything."
My review: this is a great festive kids book that will make you smile and laugh. Terrific drawings bring a really good story to life. The story itself 'scans well' and has a good rhythm for easy re-reading (not always the case with rhyming tales). A well-crafted, very good tale.
#CatsDontLikeChristmas #NetGalley I love this book for two reasons, well maybe three. Cats, cats, and loving your cat! What a sweet and understanding way to explain how overwhelming Christmas can be for our furry friends! Please pick this one up for Christmas and give it to a child!
Totally adorable kids' book, perfect stocking stuffer for a house with kitties in residence. Cute illustrations.
This was really fun. The book lists in a singsong rhyming pattern the reason cats don’t like trees. They even ask for forgiveness for climbing Christmas trees but remind you - YOU want it inside. This would be a book that I would bring out every holiday because it’s fun, it’s festive, and it really makes me think about my animals and what they make of the Christmas craziness.
This was such a cute book but let's be honest as a cat owner I know cats LOVE Christmas! They literally have more entertainment inside the house and get into so much more trouble than any other holiday. This book totally shows how spoiled kitties can be during the holidays!
"Cats Don't Like Christmas!" goes through the usual Christmas activities of putting up a Christmas tree, hanging stockings, and decorating. However, the family cat is annoyed that things have changed in his house. The funny tale of the cat during the Christmas season will bring a smile. Recommended for ages 4-10
Adorable book about what cats must experience during Christmas. As a cat owner and lover, I chuckled at the cat's escapades and confusion about all the holiday cheer.
Oh my god sooooo cute 😍
I love the part when family arrive and the gran hair 😂
A book to cat lovers, the illustrations are awesome, great colors, beautiful lines ❤️
A great gift for Christmas 🎄 (or any other time of year)
Cats Don't Like Christmas! Is a really adorable book about the adventure of cats during christmas time. The story and the drawings are really appealing.
This fun picture book is perfect for cat owners. We all know a cat loves any type of Christmas tree. The illustrations are bright and my kids loved finding the hidden mouse and yarn on each page.
This was a quick and fun read about a cat who really doesn’t like Christmas. The cat tells us exactly what he doesn’t like about Christmas, like the shine balls and the sticky tape. I enjoyed this immensely and with it almost being Christmas it was perfect timing.
While being perfect for children, I would say that adults would probably enjoy this as well. The illustrations were in great detail and the story was told in a sort of sing song style. A fun plus for children is the mouse who is hidden in all the pages.
Recommend for everyone in Christmas spirit.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for The E- Arc in exchange for an honest review.
This is the perfect little Christmas story about a grumpy cat who is a bit of a Scrooge. The illustrations are bright and colorful, and the story is very funny.
Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.
This is a funny children's Christmas book about a cat who (it seems) doesn't like Christmas, because all of the things that come into the house during Christmas time can be very annoying and intrusive. However, maybe the cat really does like Christmas after all?
The book has nice graphics, and rhyming text, which children will love. It also has a hidden mouse on each page, which my daughter enjoyed finding. We both enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
Cats Don't Like Christmas is and adorable look at Christmas and all its trimmings through the eyes of a cat. Since we have four cats, it was very familiar! Loved the book and can't wait to share it with my granddaughters! Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book made me smile and I think children will love the story and the colourful illustrations.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine
A fun, colorful rhyming story told from the viewpoint of the house cat. Hidden figures in images make for interactive fun even for little children. Perfect for read-aloud. A cute addition to your personal library for the bookend months of the year.
I read this book with my 7 year old daughter. She loved it! She said the best part of the book was the illustrations. The pictures are beautiful and eye catching. Finding the mouse and yarn on each page was a bonus.
This book was so cute! My kids laughed while we read it and they had so much fun finding the mouse and yarn on each page. We would love to add this book to our stack of Christmas books! I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
This books was very cute and reminds me of the ‘Nobody likes…” series. A cat begins listing all the reasons he doesn’t like Christmas, but by the end shares that he loves Christmas. There’s also a search and find on each page (a mouse and a ball of yarn). The illustrations are cute, I feel a lot of young children would love this book.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC. Review will be posted on my instagram @lizzies_little_library_
Having 2 cats I really enjoyed this book. As I was reading it I thought gee, maybe this is what they do think at Christmas time. The author definitely knows cats. The illustrations are vivid and colorful. I especially liked the hidden pictures on each page. A great added feature to the book. This would make a great addition to a school library or home library.
A hit with our youngest kiddos. A fun story about a cat that really doesn't like the holidays. We found it enjoyable to read and it's definitely a fun interactive story. The illustrations are bright and colorful and a fun holiday book to have around.
A lovely picture book that made me smile. A real easy read for the little ones to enjoy. Just perfect to cosy up with!
This was a really cute read over the holidays. Loved the drawings and of course, anything with cats is very popular in our house. Highly recommended.
I love when I find Christmas books that break about from the norm. My kids thought this book was hilarious. They giggled the entire time at all that was happening. It will be one that we will definitely add to our Christmas collection.
I remember our friend has stopped decorating her Xmas tree because her annoying cat kept vandalizing her xmas tree. After reading "Cats don't like Christmas", I empathize for her cat . Told in the cat's perspective, the humorous book explains about how the holiday season stresses it (the cat) out. With quirky illustrations and the cat's sarcastic tone, the readers are sure to enjoy this amusing book. A wonderful xmas gift for young readers.
Cute illustrations and funny story about how a cat feels about Christmas activities and decorations. A fun story for kids to enjoy around the Christmas season.
All thoughts and opinions are my own, and I have not been by anyone.
Cats don’t like Christmas? Well they sure love my Christmas tree. This book is a great little book for children around Christmas time.
Cute, colorful little book of the joys and mischief that cats enjoy over the Christmas period. Kids would love this book - I love it in the knowledge that my cat would participate in the fun. . Thanks you NetGalley and the publishers for the DRC
Loved this book! The illustrations are fantastic and silly, and the story is funny as can be. My six year old had me read it to her repeatedly!
We are a family of cat lovers and Christmas lovers so I knew this book was going to go down well here! And it really did. I read this with my sons who are 7 & 10 and they loved it, laughing along through the story and enjoyed finding the hidden picture on each page. It was a very cute story and we would definitely recommend it as a holiday favourite.
I choose to read and review this book because I love cats. Before we moved to Australia from the United States we had three cats, which we unfortunately left behind because it was not humane in our eyes to make them take the long journey.
The cover and the drawings in the book all display an image of a grumpy cat, which you can guess does not like Christmas. The drawings display the Christmas spirit in such a comedic way. The colors are bright and festive.
The gumpy cat shares all the reasons why he does not like Christmas. He talks about such things as the changes that occur when we decorate our houses such as moving items around so we can fit the tree. He talks about things that he will do while no one is looking, which is exactly what some of our cats would do.
My favorite part is Operation Christmas because the images of what he wants to do just makes you laugh.
At the end of the book, the author has instructed the reader to go pack through the pages and look for a specific animal and item that can be found on every page of the book.
Rating: 5 out of 5 because I loved this book. The drawings are spot on and the cats reactions make sense to me. I would definitely recommend this book.
Love love love. This was funny and very well received by my small human! He really enjoyed it and had been asking about it recently again.. !!
So Cute and so funny. This one will be added to mu must read list at Christmas. Loved it. The pictures were so good. Truly a great one.
This is a good book for children, the cat complains through the book about Christmas.
BooksGoSocial and Net galley let me read this book (thank you). It has been published and you can pick up a copy now.
The cat is crabby. He gets his paws caught in scotch tape and they moved his pillows. He climbs to the top of the Christmas tree and tells the family that it's their fault for bringing it indoors.
But at the end of the book there is a surprise. Can you guess what it is?
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This book is a fun title about a cat who does not enjoy the holidays and why he doesn't enjoy them.
Cats don't like Christmas by Andy Wortlock is beautiful illustrated story for young children. It would be perfect to read to children during the run up to Christmas especially children who like cats. The illustrations are very eye-catching for younger children to enjoy the story. I will most certainly pick a copy of this book to read to my 5 and 7 year old nephews at bed time. Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this storybook in exchange for a review
Thank you to NetGalley for granting this ARC, super cute and fast read. The illustrations were adorable and the story was cute.
This is a fun and cute Christmas story that young children will enjoy in the lead up to Christmas.
The illustrations are fun and bright and the grumpy cat is funny. If you have a cat so much of the story will be relatable I am sure! Great story with a good twist at the end!
Cats don't like Christmas? They hate it. For some reasons, I agree with this cat, but that's because he got no presents!! Reading this book, I reflected on how noisy Christmas is, and wholeheartedly agree with cat, what about Silent Night? We lit the candle, sing for 5 minutes, and turn back on the light. It's a fun book, nevertheless.
