🎄 I broke my own rule and read a Christmas-themed book before December!! But I’m making an exception and allowing children’s books to be read out of season! 😊

🎄 First things first… the illustrations are super cute and downright funny! There is one illustration with a grandmother that made me LOL. Kids will love it.

🎄 This is a simple book about all of the Christmas things that the cat doesn’t like. He can’t play with the tree, relatives come over and invade his space, wrapping paper and tape are everywhere, blinking lights keep him awake, and more! There is so much stress for the kitty!!! But does the cat REALLY dislike Christmas? You’ll have to read it to find out.

🎄 There is a fun little interactive element to this adorable picture book where readers must look for the mouse and yarn on each page.

🎄 If you have kids and a cat, you will love this book!

Thank you @NetGalley and @BooksGoSocialGroup for an eARC of this book, which I have read and reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Cats Don't Like Christmas is the perfect Christmas read for little people. The illustrations are well drawn and so colourful, they compliment the story so incredibly well. My youngest found it so much fun, as it was told from the cat's perspective and I loved being able to read and act it well for them. Definitely a must for any Christmas Eve box, or just for the lead into the Holiday season.

Cat's Don't Like Christmas is a cute and funny read. I loved the illustrations and how they depict each phrase/sentence written in a rhyming pattern. I wouldv'e loved it even better if there were more hilarious lines and illustrations!

This is a cute story. The author has a clever way to show the various things that can bother pets at Christmas time. The noise, the tree, guests and decorations are mentioned in short rhyming sentences. The illustrations are bright, colorful and pleasing. I love that a tiny mouse is hidden in the pages giving a search and find bonus to the story for interaction.
The story ends with a sweet surprise. This book would make a nice gift for children during the holiday season. I think it is a fun read. I received a copy from the publisher and NetGalley. This is my own unsolicited opinion. I'd buy it for children in my family.

The illustrations are colorful and fun, and the cat is adorable, if a little cranky. We soon find out--in a rhyming poem--how the cat is bothered by all of the household changes, lights, and noise. He just wants a quiet un-sparkly, untaped and ribboned place to escape to.

After all of the complaints listed, the story tells us cats don't like Christmas (and all the discomfort), they love it!

I found this about-face confusing. Despite the cat smiling mischievously sometimes, it was an abrupt surprise, and the end of the book!

Some pets are genuinely stressed by all of these things, so it didn't feel true. It felt like part of the story (where we would see the cat's change of heart or true feelings) was missing, and the end was quickly tacked on.

I wanted to love this book, but I felt unsettled instead.

There was also an odd change of subject to how Gran pets the cat the wrong way, and how it fantasized it could do the same to her. I didn't feel this fit in well. (I didn't like how creepy-ugly they made Gran with big man-hands, and nice lavender hair.)

If there had been hints in the poem (text) that the cat was kidding, the ending would make sense. As it is now, I would change the ending to say that cats may not enjoy all of the little things at Christmas time, but over all, they love it.

The note at the end suggesting that readers look for the mouse and yarn in each page is a fun activity/idea. However, it is not on EVERY PAGE. It is on every pair of pages.

2.8/5 Confusing ending.

A cute, fun and breezy read for kids during Christmas time. The drawings were detailed and helped the story along. "Cats don't like Christmas, they love it!" This book would be absolutely perfect for kids and kids who love cats to read during the holidays.

Thanks to Netgalley for giving me a digital arc in exchange for an honest review.

Me and my 5 year old read this together. The pictures are brilliant illustrated. They are simple but fit with the stories narrative. Showing why cats don't like Christmas. Showing all the different experiences the cats go through on this holiday season. My 5 year old though it was really funny ending.

A cute book about all the things cats observe about Christmas. I liked the rhyming cadence and vibrant illustrations.

I loved it. It reminded of the first cat my sister had. Fidel. Although he was a tabby cat. This book is so cute, I loved the illustrations. Loved it!

I absolutely love this fun book, and the cheery illustrations. The illustration style is so light hearted.

A great read for any cat lovers. Our cats aren’t too happy when we rearrange things, but they usually get on board when they realize it’s the Christmas “toys” to explore. This is a cute story with lots of scenes to explore together while reading.

My 8 year old daughter chose to read this book based on her love of cats. We also read it together.

Cats Don't Like Christmas is a funny, rhyming book from a cats point of view that doesn't like the changes happening around his house in preparation for the holiday season.

We really enjoyed the silly facial expressions and the cats grumpy thoughts throughout. However, the ending was quick and my daughter said "that's weird" upon realizing the book was over. I thought it had a cute ending, it just took the cat some time to get used to all the changes and realized they weren't so bad after all.

Cats Don't Like Christmas is a rhyming children's book about a cat that does not like the holiday season and all it entails. The cat does not like the change around the house - the decorations are abundant and even his pillows are changed. However, the more the cat thinks about it, the more he finds to love.

With a little hide-and-seek activity for kids, this book will bring a lot of fun for all. The drawings are whimsical and the facial expressions really convey the emotion in this story. A quick story with a holiday flair, Cats Don't Like Christmas is a good book for a gift or a family activity.

Prediction? This book is going down as a Christmas favourite this year. I love it! Suggestion? Buy one now to tuck away and give as a Christmas present. What a delightful story to share during the Christmas season.

An adorable little cat narrates why humans make too much fuss over this holiday season. Why Hallowe'en is barely packed away when POOF!!! all the Christmas decorations are unpacked and ready to go. Lights twinkle, music blares and a giant tree appears right inside the house. The speedy changes are overwhelming and hard to take in. Does little cat become a Scrooge and say"Humbug" to the splendour and frivolity or does he embrace the sticky tape, unending wrapping paper, shiny balls and intrusive family visitors? What do you think?

The rhyming words flow freely and are extremely
melodic. The detailed humorous illustrations are pitch perfect and animate the text to perfection.

"Cats Don't Like Christmas!" is Volume 2 of Cat's Don't Like. It's a companion to the award winning, "Cats Don't Like That." Both young and old will love this entertaining book that is spot on to get you into the holiday spirit. I highly, highly recommend it.

A fairly decent rhyming look at Christmas from the point of view of a rather grumpy cat, but the bluntness of the ridiculously sudden ending really lets the side down. Worth a read, but certainly no classic.

Myself and my 5 year old son really loved Cats Don't Like Christmas! It is such a fun story with great illustrations and is a great read to get us into the Christmas spirit.

I love a good grumpy cat book, but this one certainly has a twist.

A hilarious read for Scrooge’s and Santa’s Elves alike, this picture book looks at Christmas from the perspective of a cat who tells it how it is.

Favourite line: What happened to Silent Night. I hope it gets here soon.

This is the perfect quirky little character for a holiday bedtime story. You guess it – this one features a cat that thinks Christmas is way too over hyped. The poor little cat is distracted by all of the shiny ornaments, has had all of his favorite cushions and pillows changed, and is constantly getting stuck in tap, wrapping paper, and ribbons. After listing all of the many reasons the cat doesn’t like Christmas, though….. He ends up admitting that cats don’t just like Christmas… They love it. This one will have the little ones cracking up and holding onto their furry friends for the rest of the holiday season!

Every kid I know who loves cats or Christmas would get a kick out of this book. The rhythm of the text worked well with the story, and the illustrations helped bring everything together.
