A wonderful book which is a start of a series of books.

Daisy is the oldest girl out of the Graham family she has 4 sisters and 2 brothers. It mainly is based on Daisy but her two sisters Holly & Violet we see glimpses of what they get up to in the book. It is just as War starts that the brothers and their friends the Brewer brothers go off to War.

The book was very interesting to read of the lives of a flour mill family how enterprising they are. The characters worked well together

The description of the area was good.

Would recommend this book.

This is a great start to a series giving a really good feel for the period at the start of WWI.

A wonderful experience in how people were expecting the WWI to be over in a few months at the start with a gradual realisation on how things were starting to change at that time for women.

A wonderful read.

Many thanx to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for allowing me the chance to read and review this book

I couldn't really get into this book. The characters were not too interesting and "nothing" seemed to happen! Story was very bland with now real path of interest. Not my favourite book, sorry.

A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable and varied, the plot is one that is engaging and medium paced. I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.

I really couldn't warm to this book. It just lacked any bones and floated around. First, the three Graham brothers, then the Brewster brothers went to war. Then male Triplets came to the village. The story seemed to copy itself and had a lot of characters.

Daisy the lead character wasn't very interesting. The shop that Daisy ran could have been the hive of gossip and I felt the author missed out on this opportunity the only real villain in the book was Daisy's mum who was as dull as ditch water.
I did read over halfway but found myself daydreaming as it didn't hold me at all.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but sadly it wasn't for me. xx

I really enjoyed reading about Daisy and her sisters Violet and Holly. It was both heartwarming and heartbreaking. It was good to get to know all the characters and how their life unfolded at what must have been such a difficult time. So many twists and turns making it a really good read. I look forward to future titles in this series.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I really enjoyed this first book in a new series.

Set in WW1, a family story which had lovely characters and made you feel as though you was living with the girls.

I recommend this book.

A good insight into a families way of life in 1914 rural England. Young brothers and friends volunteer to fight in World War One, never thinking of the horrors they would face. They leave behind a family that are anxious and worried about their loved ones but they try to get on with life the best that they can. I found the book entertaining and moving.

The storyline is centered around the Graham sisters during World War One, in particularly Daisy. She's quite nieve and I found this quite charming. It's quite a sweet storyline but it does cover some controversial topics for it's time. A great start to the saga and I'm looking forward to reading more in the series.

Crumford, Kent, 1914: There are rumours of war besetting the country, but sisters Daisy, Violet and Holly Graham have other things on their minds. With the family smock mill keeping them busy, and the local brewer boys turning their heads, the girls are looking forward to a summer of fun. But there plans soon come crashing to the ground as war is declared. As the brothers Asa and Clem, and the three brewer lads Ren, Alder and Rosen all volunteer to do their part for the war effort, and are shipped off, the women are left with the problem of how to keep the business running.

Set around WW1, this family saga is a great read. Ther's a mixed bunch of interesting characters. The story is based around Daisy Graham. Her family's business is keeping Daisy and her sisters busy. Nut war is declared, and the girl's plans are scuppered. There are a few storylines running through this book, but I still found it easy enough to follow. The pace is steady. This is the first book in a new series, and I can't wait to read the next installment.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #BonnierBooksUK #Zaffre and the author #AnnaCliffe for my ARC of #TheFlourMillGirls in exchange for an honest review.

Such a uplifting read, a new series and a new author for me, The Graham Sisters, WW1 1914.
Kentish Town Crumford, And Daisy works hard in the family business in the bakery and tearoom, her father Jared works the mill making the flour and mother Cynthia keeps all the family in order at The Old Creaky Graham Mill.
Ren Brewer in Daisy's eyes is perfect for her as she dreams of a courtship a marriage and children then Britain makes its declaration of war and every man should do his duty, she will miss her brothers and Ren and the sisters have to pull together to keep the business ticking over.
This book is such a heart warming read right through as we get to know the characters, I enjoyed and loved it all and look forward to more from the Graham sisters.

Thank you for the chance to read this book in return for my honest opinion

I understand this is the first book by this author and the first in the series but I found it really hard to read and did not engage with the characters at all.
In fact by the end I really was not at all interested in what happened or why. It seemed to plod along with many little bits to the storyline with no real connection to one another - whether it was the village or the flower mill.

it seemed not to be able to decide if it was written in the first or the third person which also made it hard to read and engage with.

Sadly this will not be a series for me - there are other WW1 sagas and series that are better written and more informative.
But if we all liked the same then the world would be a very boring place.

thanks again

After the outbreak of war Jared Graham, owner of the smock mill has found himself at home with a house full of strong females headed up by wife Cynthia..
Eldest daughter Daisy is the main character who thinks she might like to go to train as a nurse to aid the war effort. After consideration she realises she is needed more at home which has benefits she’s yet to find when some new inhabitants come to the village.
The book centres mainly on the daily running of the mill and their home life.
I wasn’t sure about the ending to the book, this may be a personal thought.

This book sounded interesting to read and there was a nice mix of characters that interacted well together. There were so many storylines that could have been really interesting, but for me the story was lacking. Daisies character with who the whole story was based around really was the least exciting of all the other characters.

The story just seemed to plod on with not much detail, maybe if the other characters stories had been given more details it would have been more interesting and informative.

And the final chapter everything seemed to happen at once and then finish..

This is the start to a series so everything can be explained in the next instalments, but this story just felt lacking to me.

A good start for a compelling historical series: great characters, a storyline with enough twists to keep me hooked, and a vivid historical background.
Can't wait to read the next one.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

A good read. This is the first book in this series and it was a an interesting read. Set at the onset of the first world war it follows the lives of the Graham sisters and their relationships and problems that come to light throughout the story. There are some very interesting characters and some of them are not always what they seem to be.Im sure the next book will be just as enjoyable

What a fantastic start to a new series.
A wonderful family saga set in WW1 with lovely characters and a storyline which made you feel you were there being one of the girls. Can’t wait to read the next in the series.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review. It was an absolute pleasure.

I think this may be the first family saga I have read which is set around WW1 plus it was based in Kent (my home county) which is always a bonus!

I really enjoyed the story of Daisy and her sisters, the way the book was written as so warm and inviting, I was invested and looking forward to the books that follow!

Thanks to Bonnier Books and Netgalley!
