Full disclosure on this book: I don't really get the appeal of Caillou. I also find the 3D art a bit off-putting, but I grew up reading hand drawn books and watching 2D cartoons. The plot of this book is cute enough. It's a story-within-a-story as Caillou's dad tells him about a knight's quest to find missing sheep in a dragon's castle. The knight must rely on the help of others to work together and catapult into the castle. My 5-year old daughter enjoyed this book, and it is appropriate for very young children. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and appreciate the opportunity to read and enjoy this with my kid.

This is a very sweet picture book with a lovely moral message within it too. It helps children to learn how to cope with a change in plans and find the positives within it.

It's engaging and full of adventure and imagination. I really like the illustrations too - they're very appealing to young children.

The only negative is it's pretty word-heavy, so it was difficult to keep my 4-year-old's attention throughout it.

Overall, a lovely story.

Caillou was a favorite of mine and my cousins growing up. I loved the nostalgia that this book brought to me. My mother works as a librarian in an elementary school, so I love reviewing books like this to share the love of reading with her students, and I know this will be one her kids love.

Caillou: The Silver Knight is part of a series that is aimed at 3–4-year-olds. Adapted from the series written by Robin Bright, Caillou: The Silver Knight tells the story of little Caillou who through a story about a dragon, learns the importance of family. In this tale we witness Caillou experience disappointment when he is unable to play with a sick friend. This sees him enjoying some intimate time with his dad instead.

Before I delve into the story, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to NetGalley for providing a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Ok, back to the book. Next up, I want to highlight the wonderful illustrations. They present as wonderful, vibrant, CGI images that are extremely inviting and aesthetically pleasing to adults. I am sure children will adore them. Lauren Adams, Rebecca Galloway, Michelle McIver, and Tony Mitchell have really brought the story to life with the illustrations.

The story is centered around a king who has a very cold head and requires the queen to knit him a hat. There is just one problem. The kingdom is out of wool because a dragon has stolen all the sheep. There is nothing for it, the king and queen enlist the help from their son, the Silver Knight to return the captured sheep. Like Caillou, the Silver Knight is missing someone who would usually be his companion on such adventures. Fortunately, his family comes to cheer on his adventure just as he finds himself stumped on how to succeed at the mission on his own.

The moral of the story taught Caillou not to depend on one person and to have an openness towards his family. He had failed to notice his sister’s attention. He also realized just how resourceful and loving his sister could be.

This is a beautiful story that can be told to the target audience repeatedly as either a bedtime story or a reminder about valuing others. The language was just right, the picture supported the story and were engaging, and there was the right amount of text per page and for the book in its entirety. It deserves a well-earned 5 out of 5 stars.

My 3 yo absolutely loves the show so when I told her I had a surprise book for her, she was over the moon when she heard it was Caillou. The story shows good imagination and it portrayed an important message that my child is beginning to understand.
I’ve just had to read for the second night in a row…I might need to update this to see how many nights this will go on for.

Thank you netgalley for the e-ARC!
I read this with my 2 and 3 year old who were more interested in the pictures than the actual story but it is a sweet story about a boy learning to overcome his disappointment of not having his friend to play with by learning that his family is there and can play with him instead.

Caillou: The Silver Knight was a great, fun read. My 5 year old granddaughter watches Caillou on TV so she was excited for us to read this book. In the book, Caillou gets upset when his friend isn't able to come over to play at his house because she is sick. Dad reads Caillou a book called, The Silver Knight. He tells Caillou that he isn't alone and that he will always have family. The illustrations are great and detailed. I read this book with my 5 year old granddaughter and she loved it. Thank you to NetGalley, Chouette Publishing for the ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily and this is my own opinion. #netgalley, #caillou:thesilverknight, #robinbright, #family

We’re big fans of Caillou here so this was a must read for us.

The story is lovely and kept my 5yo engaged more than the 3yo because of the length but they both enjoyed it.

We always love stories about family so this was perfect and the illustrations were bright and again appreciated by all.

I definitely would recommend this for families with small kids!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a sweet story about the importance of family that fans of Caillou will enjoy.

The artwork is bright and vibrant and in step with the animation of the show.

Story was a tad long in my opinion for the target age group

The story was easy enough to follow for those kids unfamiliar with the Caillou franchise.

Overall a short sweet that could have benefitted from a little editing.

First time reading Caillou, a story book for children. The story is simple, about a boy named Caillou whose friend is not feeling well to play together, so he has no one to play with. But his dad told him this story of The Silver Knight. It is an easy read for children, and the dad reminds him of the moral of the story at the end. Quite good for bedtime read.

Caillou: The Silver Knight was cute and fun. My 3 and 5 year old boys have both watched the television show Caillou so they were excited for this book. In this one, Caillou's friend Sarah is sick and can't come over to play. When he's disappointed, his dad tells him a story about the Silver Knight. He learns a lesson through the story that he's not alone and always has his family. The illustration was excellent. This would be a great book for new readers.

Thank you to NetGalley and Chouette Publishing for allowing me to be an early reader. All opinions are my own.

I don't know about the show and I didn't know it was an adaptation before reading this. But I guess this is fun, even for the children who haven't watched the show yet.
