Another cracking addition to this gripping series. The friends are back, this time, after Lindsay has put away a serial killer and Cindy has written a best seller about his murders. Yuki is prosecuting a violent wife beater and in typical James Patterson style, there’s murder and mayhem and all stories intermingle and come together in a satisfying conclusion.
Everything you expect from this author.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for the opportunity to preview.

I cant say anything negative about this book….I’ve read every single one of the ladies murder club and I was excited to read the latest instalment. As always a fantastic read and I look forward to more from James Patterson.

A very enjoyable book to read with characters that you could get into. A gripping storyline with some good twists in it.

Lindsay is responsible for putting serial killer, Evan Burke, in jail. One of her closest friends, Cindy, has written a book about Evan's crimes. The book starts with a really violent murder scene and I was gripped and invested.... It appears there's an Evan copycat and his murders are cruel and seemingly centered around Cindy as well. In between all this, Yuki (another friend in the club) is the prosecutor in a domestic violence case and so the chapters flit between the case and these murders.
As mentioned, when I started the book, I was gripped and I felt the tension intensify with every murder. However, eventually I felt like Blackout (the potential copycat) became a bit unhinged (as some of James' antagonists tend to become) and lost that cool serial killer vibe that he had going when the book started. My favourite part of the book were the chapters focusing on the trial with Yuki.
There were a lot of characters and I personally didn't feel like this was a book centered around a murder club....everybody felt like another character with nothing binding them. But it was definitely part entertaining, part tense, part slow, part heartbreaking.

Another great women's murder club read. James Patterson never disappoints and keeps me on the edge of my seat and reading into the night.

It's hard to review a series written by a master storyteller and not repeat concepts or say something original.
Let's say this is the best in this series and I had a lot of fun in reading.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

If you're a fan of James Patterson's previous works, you'll likely enjoy his latest novel "23rd Midnight". While not his strongest work, this book is a decent thriller with an engaging plot that keeps the reader interested until the end. The story revolves around Detective Lindsay Boxer's pursuit of a copycat killer who has recreated the crimes of an infamous serial killer she put behind bars.
The book's pacing is solid, and the writing resembles Patterson's style. However, the characters feel a bit one-dimensional and fail to really stand out. Additionally, the ultimate resolution of the plot is predictable and lacks the satisfying twist readers have come to expect from Patterson's thrillers.
Overall, "23rd Midnight" is a solid thriller that will keep readers engaged until the end, but it falls short of being a standout entry in Patterson's impressive catalogue of work. If you're a fan of the genre, this book is worth checking out, but don't expect any major surprises.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher Random House UK for an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A what you see is what you get, no nonsense murder thriller. The characters are so likeable and it leaves you anticipating what punishments the villains going to face. A fast, well written novel that delivers on every level.

This is the latest Women's Murder Club story from James Patterson and, as usual, the story is a fast-paced easy read featuring the much loved characters of police detective Lindsay Boxer and friends Claire, Cindy and Yuki. This time, Cindy must race against time to find a serial killer who has kidnapped one of her friends whilst Yuki is prosecuting a high profile domestic violence case. I enjoyed reading about the latest chapter in the characters' personal stories although for me, the outcomes were fairly predictable. I'm sure this book will bring pleasure to the countless Patterson fans although it does lack the excitement of his earlier books.

This is standard James Paterson stuff. The women’s murder group are back controlling this police investigation into finding a serial killer. Whoever it is appears to be a copycat murderer trying to emulate another serial murderer locked up in gaol for life. One of the women’s group, journalist Cindy, has been writing a biography of the jailed murderer. That has exposed her as a potential victim for the killer now being sought. The story rolls along with many strands which eventually come together in a satisfying ending. This is not the most gripping murder story you will ever read but it does hold the reader’s attention.

I have read and enjoyed all the women's murder club books, this one however is the best so far. All the usual characters involved in tracking down a copycat serial killer. There is no let up in this fast paced story line and its a read all in one sitting book. Massive twists and turns that has you racing to finish this terrific book. Looking forward to the next one in this super series.

Thank you for the chance to read this ARC in return for my honest opinion
I usually like 'The Women's Murder Club' books but havent read them all and usually find you can read them as standalone books but this one I felt would mean more had I read a previous book.
I had to read to the end to find out the perpetrator but found the end was very forced and contrived. This spoilt it for me.
Well written and I do like the writing style of the author

I've been hooked on the Women's Muder Club from the start.
I can't believe that we are now at the 23rd book in the series.
Lindsay is up against a a killer but not just any old murderer.
Blackout is recreating the serial killer Evan Burke who Lindsay and her team captured and is now behind bars.
This book has all you want and more from the ladies and with some exceptional twists.

You are always in for a good read when Detective Lindsay Boxer is back with the Women's Murder Club!
Boxer was responsible for putting disturbed serial killer Evan Burke in jail. Fellow Women’s Murder Club member, and reporter Cindy Thomas, interviewed him for her true crime book about the case. The book made it to the bestseller list, but Cindy is still recovering from the trauma of hearing all of Burks's horrific crimes.
Then a series of murders come to light, with a connection to Boxer. There is a copycat killer obsessed with Burke and is committing murders in his stead. He is taunting Boxer with his crimes, and she is scrambling to get close to the killer to stop his rampage. Then Cindy goes missing, snatched by the killer, and time is fast running out.
The books work well stand-alone or make for a fantastic series if you are looking for one to get into. As always, this was an entertaining read, set around a fantastic group of women. There is lots of drama to keep you turning the pages and cheering Detective Boxer on in solving the case.
*I received this copy from NetGalley for review, but all opinions are my own.

Number 23 was the first of the Women’s murder club series that I have read. Whilst it took me a good third of the book to get up to speed with the characters and their personalities, I preferred that I had to work at this rather than being bored with the back story explanations that are typical of books in a series. Once up to speed, I found the book fast paced and enjoyable, if not a little straightforward in its presentation. There are no big plot twists, no “didn’t see that coming” moments and if I am being harsh, the point at which the perpetrator is identified relies on the lucky intervention of a third party rather than from inspiration and hard work.
Despite the absence of challenge within the storyline, I enjoyed the story and will be looking to read more from this series.

23rd Midnight by James Patterson is a 5 ⭐️ read.
Well he’s only gone and done it again, this book was brilliantly written and kept me guessing until the end HUGE 5 ⭐️s.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book through Netgalley

A Women’s Murder Club novel. There appears to be a copycat killer on the lose and Boxer needs to find them.
I’ve read a few Women’s Murder Club novels but I found this book had too many characters. Rather than saying “the witness said”, every single person was giving a full name and description of their life. This made it very difficult for me to remember who was who outside the Murder Club and husbands.
I wasn’t shocked by any of it and when it ended I kind of thought oh.. that’s it…
It was OK.

This is tense, gripping and completely addictive. I have felt as though I have been watching the events of this one play out. This is realistic and believable, guaranteed to send shivers down the spine of the reader.
This has been completely unpredictable and been a book I have devoured. I literally thought I had this figured out then BANG, a twist thrown in that completely pulls the floor from under you.

23rd Midnight is the twenty third book in James Patterson and Maxine Paetro's Women's Murder Club series and I am always excited when a new title in this series comes out as I have really enjoyed them all.
This book has the usual murder that Detective Lindsay Boxer has to try and solve along with her colleagues and usually with her 3 best friends Cindy, a journalist, Yuki a prosecutor and Claire, the Chief Medical Examiner who all get involved in one way or another.
It's great to see the ongoing character development in the books, and although this is the latest in a long series, a new reader could easily pick it up and read and enjoy as a standalone. You'll soon be wanting to read them all.
This book has the usual short sharp chapters that we are used to from James and his co-authors and it very quickly picks up and becomes very exciting.
Cindy has just started promoting her newly published true crime novel and becomes embroiled when an obsessed fan starts causing problems that mirror the original serial killer's actions. Lindsay has to try and catch the criminal.
A big thank you to Random House UK, Cornerstone, Century for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is my first James Patterson book. It was ok, I liked the structure of short chapters and it kept my interest but didn't leave me on the edge of my seat. I understand it is the 23rd book in this series but I didn't feel I missed out by reading it as a stand alone.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.
