We've been waiting a long time! Will Trent and Sara Linton are back!
After that night, nothing was ever the same again …
Fifteen years ago, Sara Linton's life changed forever when a celebratory night out ended in a violent attack that tore her world apart. Since then, Sara has remade her life. A successful doctor, engaged to a man she loves, she has finally managed to leave the past behind her.
Until one evening, on call in the ER, everything changes. Sara battles to save a broken young woman who's been brutally attacked. But as the investigation progresses, led by GBI Special Agent Will Trent, it becomes clear that Dani Cooper's assault is uncannily linked to Sara's.
And it seems the past isn't going to stay buried forever …
I have read all of the books in the Sara Linton and Will Trent series and could not contain my exciting to be approved by @Netgalley to give my honest review of this book.
If you've read this far in the series, you know that Karin Slaughter does not shy away from hard subjects - rape, stalking, domestic abuse, drugs - and this novel is no exception. This has to be one of the most gripping books to date. Though you should be warned, the book could be deeply disturbing for some readers.
The characters, the plot and the explicit crime make this book a MUST read. The crime case is personal to Sara Linton and I don’t think I could have been more shocked at the end. I am not going to say more as I don't want to give anything away.
When you read a Karin Slaughter novel, you know you’re getting a first-class thriller, and After That Night is definitely a brilliant addition to the series.
I would highly recommend this if you like good crime thriller because nobody writes better than Karin Slaughter. The book was worth the wait, but I hope we don't have to wait another 3 years for the next instalment of Will, Sara, Faith & Amanda.
I thought this was an extremely well written plot. The story and the characters blend really well. I was really invested in Sara's story and how it was told. Absolutely brilliant.

I just finished reading After That Night by Karin Slaughter, and can I just say... WOW! The story was so intense and gripping, I couldn't put it down. And the characters, like Sara Linton, Will Trent, and Faith, were so well-written – I was totally invested in their journeys throughout the series. Plus, their interactions had some really sweet and funny moments that helped lighten the mood amidst all the dark stuff.
I couldn't get enough of the fast-paced storyline, and Slaughter's storytelling just had me hooked. I mean, I was both creeped out and feeling for the characters at the same time – talk about a rollercoaster of emotions! Just a heads up, though, the graphic violence in the book might be a bit much for some people.
But seriously, After That Night is a prime example of why Karin Slaughter is such an amazing author. Now I'm just sitting here, like, "Okay, when's the next book coming out?!" Can't wait!
After That Night by Karin Slaughter is book 11 in the Will Trent series and we meet up with Sara Linton and Will Trent, engaged and arranging their marriage.
Fifteen years ago Sara was violently attacked and raped on a celebratory night out, as a result of this attack Sara can no longer have children
Fifteen years later Sara is working in AE one night when a young woman is admitted after having been viciously
beaten and raped.
As the investigation progresses, being led by GI Special Agent Will Trent, similarities to the attack on Sara all those years ago become clear. The investigation will show a sustained and violent campaign against young women has been carried out for years.

Although I felt that the identity of 'Mr Big' was signaled early in the story, it does not stop me from giving this book 5 stars. It is the 11th in a series but you do not need to have read the previous books. An excellent plot and excellent story telling.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for the advance copy of this book.
Karen had done it again another excellent thriller plenty of drama twists and turns.
As a surgeon Sara fights to save Dani's life but well the aftershocks will last a very long time, Sara promises Dani that she won't let the permitator of the crime will not get away with it. This brings back the haunting memories of her own rape and her finance and his partner will not stop either no matter the cost. So all sets for a great thriller
There are some great characters some horrendous ones as in arrogant and all that fits with that sort of person. Some people believe the world centers around them and will do anything to keep it that way as they feel entitled to do. It's great when they tumble the question is will they or will they continue to destroy those that get in their way. These are the questions that grip you as you read it's not all good folks winning the day it's about good folk not giving up and hey they have flaws as well.
I highly recommend this great thriller I hope you love it as much as I did it truly is a fantastic read.
After That Night reunites us with Sara and Will. Long time Karin Slaughter readers like myself will be familiar with the characters. Dr Sara Linton is a qualified paediatrician now working as a forensic pathologist for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Her boyfriend Will Trent is an agent at the GBI. Their story goes back multiple books so no spoilers from me bar one fact. Sara was a resident at Grady Hospital in Atlanta 15 years ago (in book time). She was brutally and horrifically raped which resulted in her being unable to have children. Quite a large portion of After That Night go back and forth between the build up to that incident and the present day. Various characters feature in both timeliness. To go into too much spoiler territory wouldn't be fair. I enjoyed this book but I did find it far fetched. Saying that, I would recommend it. Thank you NetGalley for my advance copy.
What a blockbuster. Best book I have read all year.
Mixed emotions throughout this book, sadness, elation, disappointment, joy, hope, and helplessness. How much more can you ask for in a book?
This kept me totally engrossed in this book. I do not want to give out too many clues to this as every female at least should read this. Mind-blowing.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Karin Slaughter does it again! In this installment of the Sara Linton & Will Trent series, Sara, Will, and Faith try to untangle a web of lies, conspiracy, and entitlement to get to the bottom of what happened to Sara 15 years ago and how it is connected to a series of similar events.
CW for sexual assault and detailed rape scenes. Karin Slaughter does not shy away from reality and dark truths. Parts of this book are extremely heavy. It is helpful to have read some Trent/Linton books before for the backstory but it's not entirely necessary.
Overall, another great book from Karin Slaughter. Lots of twists and dark turns, as well as the love and friendship that Will, Trent, Faith, and Amanda all have. I couldn't put it down and already can't wait for the next one.
Sadly, think this was one of the weaker books in the series. I really wish that after 10 books the personal drama would be done with and the books could focus on actual mysteries again. I love Will and Sara, but we already had so many books about their backstories it's getting boring. And this didn't really give us any new important info either.
I think the mystery itself was fine, it wasn't as suspenseful as other Karin Slaughter books and it also wasn't as dark and twisted as her stories usually get. I enjoyed the ending and I like the characters, of course, I just wish we could do without some of their personal problems.
Another gritty dark story from Karin Slaughter. Complex and twisted I absolutely loved it. The twist is phenomenal. I couldn’t put it down , fantastic book.
Dr Sara Linton and Will Trent are back in the best in the series to date.
A girl is raped and dies: Sara sees her and feels responsible for catching the perpetrator but this involves her facing her own demons from her past.
Slaughter draws her characters so well - my favourite is detective Faith - and you really believe in them.
The plot is genuinely gripping and twisty and the ending deals an unexpected blow to the reader.
I can honestly say I was on the edge of my seat
All in all, I’d say this is the best yet from a great crime writer.
Having been a huge fan of Karin Slaughter’s since I started reading the Grant County & Will Trent series in late 2018/early 2019, I was over the moon to hear she was working on another instalment of the Will Trent series. Will & Sara are one of my favourite couples in fiction and I was desperate to know what happened after the events of The Silent Wife.
The opening scene of After That Night transports us back to Sara’s days working in the Emergency Department at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, and the events of a particular night shift she endures echo throughout this book. What follows is a visceral recollection of Sara’s past and an investigation which raises the stakes for Will, Sara, and Faith like we’ve never seen before.
I absolutely raced through After That Night and almost read it in one sitting. Karin is, unsurprisingly, on top form once again. She never fails to bring the whole story back to the heart of the series – Will & Sara’s relationship. We find them engaged after the events of The Silent Wife and planning a long-awaited wedding. Karin always hits her stride when delving into the many facets of Will & Sara’s relationship and After That Night tests their mettle as a couple like never before.
The story surrounds Sara’s troubled past while she worked as a doctor at Grady – it’s visceral, horrifying and disturbing, and Karin does a fantastic job of bringing us right back to that night and it’s aftermath. She sensitively portrays how it has affected Sara’s psyche and how much Sara has overcome and healed with the help of her family, friends, and of course, Will. I adore how much they’ve grown together and supported each other. I just hope we get to see more of their journey together, I’m hopelessly hooked on their every scene.
There is also a big focus on Faith in After That Night surrounding her role as a cop and a mother which was excellently portrayed. Faith’s inner emotions and love for her children is palpable and I love the relationship she has with them both. A development in her relationship with Aiden Van Zandt, the FBI agent we first met in The Last Widow, also makes a welcome appearance – I hope we see more of him and Faith together in future books.
With complex and tangible characters, a riveting and engaging plot that ramps up the tension right until the very end, After That Night is most certainly a must read for long-term fans and new readers of the Will Trent series.
I would like to thank Karin Slaughter, HarperCollins, and Netgalley for the ARC.
I have read all of the books in the Sara Linton and Will Trent series and have enjoyed the journey as their stories combined to create a new series,
After That Night is my favourite one yet. The story begins with a short flashback to a time just before Will and Sara start their relationship. Sara is working in A&E and a girl comes in who needs urgent treatment She tells Sara she was raped just before she dies. Flashforward to a court appearance where Sara is testifying about the girls treatment and declaration. The defendant is the son of someone she went to medical school with. The story periodically takes us back to Sara's time at university and her sexual assault as Will, Faith and Sara try to find a link between the rapes,
The story is gripping, well-written and the characters well drawn. My favourite installment so far. I am looking forward to the next one.
Amazing! Karin Slaughter has done it again! I was up till 2am to finish this gripping thriller! So glad to have Will, Sara, Faith and Amanda back too!
I’m very much in the minority here because I found this book really hard work and didn’t enjoy it. I think that anyone who has read the other books in the series and therefore knows the backgrounds of the main characters will love it, but this is my first (and last) Will Trent book. At times I was lost and couldn’t keep track of who was who and why they knew each other so well. The backwards and forwards between time periods was confusing, and so was the number of suspects. The story was overly complicated, there was too much medical jargon and way too much unnecessary bad language and graphic descriptions of rapes. I enjoy a bit of swearing and a bit of gore but this was over-the-top ridiculous. Oh, and every time I read ‘Sara pressed together her lips’ or ‘Sara pressed her lips together’ or ‘Sara bit her lip’ or ‘Sara felt her lips part in surprise’ … I wanted to scream! Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC but this one wasn’t for me.
I haven't read any of this series before. So I did feel like I was trying to catch up a bit, and missing a lot of the back story. However, despite that, I did enjoy it. It was a fairly easy read, with a twist at the end, but I can't say that I would want to read any of the others.
What a joy to have Will, Sara and Faith back!!
Superb reading, simply unputdownable!! Must be one of Karin´s best novels yet!
The only thing left to say about this book is.......YOU HAVE TO READ IT!!
My thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for allowing me the opportunity to read an advanced copy in return for giving an honest review.
Karin Slaughter is one of my go to authors. I would read a shopping list written by her but I won't need to as long as she writes exceptional stories like this.
Typical demarcation lines between towns make it difficult to decode which police department os sherrif's office should be investigating a heinous crime.
Historical events mean there will be no real joined up thinking or sharing of information.
It is difficult to review this book without dropping in spoilers.
It is another quality read from this talented author. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to try to work out whodunnit. Bet you don't.
Wow! What a read!
I was already a fan of Slaughters, pieces of her being one of my favourite reads. So, when i saw an early release of her new novel was available I jumped at the chance, already a fan of her work! I must say, I think this may be my favourite!
I was super intrigued by the plot of this one and it definitely did not disapoint. It has the perfect amount of twists and turns, suspense and secrets. I really enjoyed it
