Yay, after not having clicked with the last few of Slaughter's books, I'm delighted that she's back on top form here. The return of Sara Linton and Will Trent is marked by a dark and frightening story that also looks back into Sara's troubled past. It's matched by the cast of characters we've come to know so well with developments in Faith's life. Will and Sara have lost some of the tweeny soppiness of their lurve story which is a relief, and there's more maturity in their closeness. And it's always good to be back in the company, however brief, of Amanda, with a cameo from Evelyn.

Fast paced, intelligent, fierce and righteously angry, this is hard-hitting as well as being a can't-put-it-down page-turner.
