I will always be keen to pick up a Will Trent book and it was great to return to Will, Sara and Faith who have developed into such interesting and well developed characters. This time there is a real connection with Sara's past as they investigate the links between the rape of a young woman Sara treats in the ER and her own rape some years earlier. Whilst at times a harrowing read, it was also sensitively written and didn't feel gratuitous. The book was pacy, well plotted, and absolutely gripping right to the end. Highly recommended! Thanks to netgalley and Harper Collins for the opportunity to read.

Will Trent and Sara Linton who is now a successful doctor join forces to track the attacker and rapist of a young girl. strangely enough this eventually links back to an attack on Sara 15 years earlier. They are told not to dig too deeply by superior officers but carry on anyway. Will uses his relationship to an estranged aunt to gain access to an exclusive Country Club where he sets out to confront the person they think carried out the attack.
Many twists and turns along the way.

After That Night, Karin Slaughter

A great book involving the dynamics of Will Trent and Sara Linton, where one of Dr Linton’s patients has been raped and this replicates the MO of her own rape, whilst she was a medical student.

Some excellent characters – Will, Sara, Faith and Amanda. This book just keeps giving. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would certainly recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Colllins for a copy of this book, I rate it 4 stars.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of After That Night by Karin Slaughter.
I love the Sara Linton and Will Trent series and what a brilliant addition to the series this one is. A gripping story line with a past and present crime intertwining. The characters are so brilliantly written it really feels like you know them.
You could read this as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading the whole series you certainly won’t be disappointed, extremely tired maybe but not disappointed.

I’ve read a few Karin Slaughter books but none in the Will Trent series so i was looking forward to this but word as it’s the 11th book I wouldn’t know what was going on.
It read fine as a stand alone tho and I’ll definitely be going back and starting the series from the beginning, I really loved the characters and would love to read more about them.
The story was really interesting and as with other books by this author there were some gruesome and hard to read bits that’s not for the faint of heart.
The only thing I struggle with is the long chapters but Karin has definitely become a must read author for me now.

Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to read this Arc.

I thought this was a brilliant story and couldn’t stop reading it. The ending was a surprise as I was not expecting it all to go like that, in fact, it kept you guessing all the way through so made it a very enjoyable read. Karin is a very talented author with all her books dragging you in to the story, which I like.

I really like Karin Slaughter & was delighted to be approved for #AfterThatNight. Thank you to #Netgalley
& #HarperCollins for an e-ARC in return for an honest review.
After That Night is the 11th novel in the Will Trent series & is as pacy &.punchy a read as you can get.
Will & Sarah Linton are now engaged but from the start it is obvious that their path to a "Happy Ever After" will not be a smooth one.
Sarah is working as an ED doctor in the busy Grady Hospital & Will is still working as a an investigator with the GBI.
Grady Hospital.is where Sarah's life changed for ever 15 years ago after a brutal attack. Now trying to live with her past & move on to a new life with Will fate has other ideas.
When a young woman with very similar injuries to Sarah's presents to her ED alarm bells start ringing. This is the beginning of a maelstrom of a read.
An.investigation is started but the similarities & connections to Sarah's case become more & more apparent. Powerful people are committing crimes against young women but how to prove it? Sarah's friends & colleagues from her past seem to know more about her attack than they revealed at the time too.
This is a roller coaster of a read but a really well written one. It has highs & lows like any good ride but they all serve a purpose hurtling the reader to a fascinating ending.
Be warned if you are planning on starting this book clear your calendar because you won't want to put it down!

First of all, thank you Harper Collins and Netgalley for granting me an ARC for this book. I know this review is super late but nonetheless I wanted to leave a review.

Let's welcome Will Trent and Sara Linton back to the scene!

On the night of Sara's shift at a hospital, a woman named Dani Cooper was admitted to the hospital. Before she succumbed, to her injuries, Dani told Sara that she was raped. Dani's incident reminds Sara of her own incident when she was raped many years ago in the same hospital. And as the police are investigating on Dani's case. Sara, Will and Faith realize that there are other rape victims including Sara's that are connected to each other and that there's a cult involved in these cases...

As usual, Karin Slaughter's books are captivating, unputdownable and...disturbing. Having read Will Trent's books, I expected some gore in the book but there wasn't much gore and I thought the story wasn't that disturbing as her previous books. This was fast paced, there were some twists and turns, particularly the ending where the ending was completely unexpected that I simply couldn't even believe the ending! Overall, this was a fast paced unputdownable thriller that will keep you up all night--worth five stars!

This book wasn't for me. I have read a previous book by this author, but struggled to get into this one and gave up on it. It's not going to stop me reading more of her books, but it's a long way from her best.

Gripping! I loved this book! Karin Slaughter never disappoints with a gripping novel! I loved the twists and turns this book took! The storyline was sensitive to the matters it was describing and wonderfully told!

Thank you to Netgalley and Karin Slaughter for this early release

I can’t believe we’re on book 11 of the Will Trent series. Sara Linton and the Grant County series is what got me hooked on gruesome crime thrillers and they are still an incredible read. Now don’t get me wrong I did love this book but the graphic rape scene descriptions were a bit much. I know Karin Slaughter doesn’t shy away from a gory murder and I normally love a gruesome book but there were several scenes that were an extremely uncomfortable read. It is obviously well written and makes you feel so much empathy for the women. It also shows how difficult it is to get justice for sexual crimes. So definitely bear in mind triggers if you were thinking of reading this book.

As for the rest of the book, it was a great read. I loved getting to see more of Faith and her family. She’s such a lovable character. Amanda was also adorable with her wedding help. It was interesting getting to learn more about Sara and her past. The story is packed full of twists and turns and extremely well written characters. There were so many villains that I didn’t know who to hate more. The explosive ending was still a surprise though.

I received a copy of the ebook via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

Karin Slaughter never ever disappoints and I was overjoyed to find out that "After That Night" featured once again Will Trent and Sara Linton. I just love the dynamics of this couple.

When Sara is called to an emergency to help save the life of a young woman who has been violently attacked it brings back memories of what happened to her 15 years ago.

Once again Sara is having to relive what happened to her in the hope that the perpetrator can be found.

This story was so emotional, I could feel my toes curling when I read how Sara and other women were physically and mentally abused.

Only Ms Slaughter can get right inside someone's mind and relay what they are thinking, and I am talking both the good and the bad here. She really is the most knowledgeable writer of crime novels. Her attention to even the minutest detail is second to none.

All I can say is this book and the author are both AWESOME!

One evening in the ER, Sara is the sole witness to a dying woman’s testimony: she was drugged and raped. Three years’ later, the accused is on trial, the son of a successful and wealthy couple that Sarah knows only too well. He’s going to get away with it, but his distraught mother loses her grip for a moment. A moment that leads Sara to believe it’s somehow connected to the night she was raped, fifteen years earlier. She must open old wounds to get justice for Dani…and to stop it happening again.

This is one of the few crime series I’ve kept up with over the years and I do so because Sara, Will and Faith feel like old friends and I care about what happens to them. In After That Night, the details of Sara’s past rape are brought into the daylight and we learn a lot more about who she was when she was younger and the people who surrounded her.

While the crimes are still horrific, the main characters seem to have gotten softer and kinder than in the earlier books, which is no bad thing. Amanda is showing a keen interest in the wedding prep and I teared up a little at her response, her tough exterior melting a little at the thought of Will getting his happy ever after. I think we all want that for Will, right?

The mystery itself was fast paced with plenty of twists and turns as we meet the people Sara qualified alongside, now successful doctors except for the one who didn’t make it. We see the world she could have been part of if she hadn’t been left traumatised, the path she was on was altered that night. When contrasted with her new found family, full of kindness and courage, she has at least ended up in the right place eventually.

This was kinda perfect, a perfect instalment in the Will Trent series, perfect for the characters, perfect for the readers. The Silent Wife (Instalment 10) will be very difficult to match/beat, but this book felt important to the main character's development.

I'm truly obsessed with Will Trent and Sara Linton, the last chapter of this book had me smiling from ear to ear, the whole thing was such a gift to read. Karin Slaughter is an incredible author!

I've already read lots of books by Karin Slaughter and I couldn't wait to start this one! It's After That Night and it came out last week, the 22nd of June. I received it from HarperCollins UK via Netgalley.

We follow Will Trent and Sara Linton again but this time it's a bit closer to home. Sara was attacked 15 years ago but she had been able to rebuild her life again. That all becomes quite unstable after a woman is brought into the ER. This woman is brutally attacked and eventually it becomes clear that this case is very similar to the one of Sara, 15 years ago. Together with Will and Faith, they try to get to the truth but that's not as easy as it seems.

This was, again, a terrific read. I had to get into the story a bit, but once that happened I couldn't put it down.the characters have been developed well over the years as this is book 11 in the Will and Sara series. This is shown in the way they communicate and the easy chemistry between the characters.
The story is great as well. A case that hits close to home and dives into the past of Sara. We get to know her even more and why she acts the way she does because of her past. The story builds up to a grand finale in which it all comes together.

4,5/5⭐

Brilliantly chilling addition to this series.

Probably best to have read the other instalments first to get the best from this book and I would recommend you do-Will is an amazing character and you will not regret it.

Love this authors style, the plot in this one is well thought out and gets right under your skin.

My thanks to HarperCollins U.K. for an eARC via NetGalley of ‘After That Night’ by Karin Slaughter

This is Book 11 in her Will Trent series of police procedurals set in Atlanta, Georgia. Karin Slaughter has long been a ‘must read’ author for me and I have read all but one of the previous ten books in the series.

While some background is provided for new readers, this is such a stellar series that it’s well worth reading in order to follow the characters’ development.

Dr. Sara Linton is currently giving testimony in a controversial civil trial brought by the parents of Dani Cooper, a young woman who died in the ER from her injuries following a brutal attack. The defendant is the entitled son of one of Atlanta’s leading surgeons, a man who had been a surgical resident with Sara years ago.

An encounter with Britt McAllister, the defendant’s mother, at the courthouse leaves Sara reeling as Britt taunts Sara with the suggestion that there was a connection between what had happened to Dani Cooper and the night fifteen years ago when
a celebratory night out ended in a violent attack that tore Sara’s world apart.

Sharing this with her fiancé, GBI Special Agent Will Trent, they decide to undertake a discreet investigation bringing in Faith Mitchell, Will’s GBI partner, to assist. They soon find that it takes them into nightmarish territory.

I always caution readers that Karin Slaughter’s crime thrillers contain disturbing themes, descriptions, and language and this warning certainly applies here.

Overall, I found ‘After That Night’ another powerful novel in this outstanding series of crime thrillers/police procedurals. Very highly recommended.

A fast paced and gritty read.
I always enjoy a Karin Slaughter novel and this one was right at the top with her best.

The characters draw you in to their intricate interwoven story.
Some gritty topics covered but an excellent read.

This review is going to be full of praise. But the first positive thing I want to say, and the most important one for me, is that this book took me out of a horrible reading slump. And if that's not a good sign, I don't know what is.

I've enjoyed every Karin Slaughter book I've read so far and look forward to reading from her back catalogue while waiting for the next release. And I know this might be recency bias but...I think this is my favourite book by her I've ever read. And I would go as far as saying it's my favourite thriller right now.
The more I grow as a writer, the harder it is for me not to look at books I read very critically. So what I loved the most about this book was that it did all the right things and didn't do any of the annoying (for me) ones. The structure was perfect. That's why reading it was so easy, despite my reading slump. Just the little messages before the prologue made me get into the book immediately. I needed to know more. And then, the way the information was placed in the story made so much sense. Often, authors throw all these twists into the story to basically confuse the reader. "Ha! You didn't guess the ending!", well...no, I didn't, because I was not supposed to. The clues weren't there to help me work it out, but to confuse me. I don't like that personally. So the way it was done in this novel was just great. I kept theorizing, even if the mystery wasn't that big. We sort of know from the beginning what's going on but need to read more to really put all the pieces together.

Now, something that is very personal to me is the way certain topics are treated in books. This novel covers very heavy topics and ones that, as a woman, I get really enraged by. The trial part had me putting the book down several times to take deep breaths (and curse some characters) because of how annoyingly accurate it all was. To some, having the women telling us how bad it all is and the men being such villains can be seen as preachy. I disagree. And the characters of Eliza and Britt are what make the message have so much more meaning. It's not about vilifying women too but about doing it in the right way. When we say we want good female characters, we don't mean flawless female characters. We mean interesting ones. And every character here was interesting but Britt in particular was something I haven't seen before in a book and I appreciate her inclusion. She was such a complex character and the figure of the mother who fears for his son, even knowing his done something wrong, is often overlooked.
I particularly loved the quote Faith gives us at the end of the book: "No woman gets celebrated like a bad woman". Because it ties in with all the rest of the commentary so well, And just a quick look at the media of any country, really, shows how painfully true it is.

Just read this book. I want everyone to read this book. That's my final summary.
