There is literally nothing as spicy and smutty as Alien romances. Call it a guilty pleasure of mine but this book was ***chef's kiss*** Loved every second of it.
3 1/2 stars
I delved into My Alien Prince looking for a good escape story. Fortunately, I did find that. Unfortunately, the storyline wasn't quite as strong as I hoped for.
Katy is persuaded by her sister, Sara to visit another planet on a goodwill mission. There is a financial incentive for people to agree to go since it's a one year commitment and Katy needs the money so she agrees. When they get there, the situation isn't at all what they expected. Apparently, they are expected to stay with hosts on the planet with the hope that they will form a connection and choose to stay. Ultimately, the goal is for them to procreate as the planet has lost a great deal of its female population and is in danger of extinction due to another alien race which invaded and has been attacking them.
Katy is matched up with the Prince, Drex. She's determined that she'll eventually return to Earth, so she tries to keep her feelings on lock-down. Of course, Sara is all in and immediately falls for the alien she is matched with. Drex, Katy's match is considerate and determined to not pressure her in any way. As time progresses, their chemistry takes over and brings them together.
I think this book had great promise. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, it lost steam. I did like the finish and felt like it gave the reader a solid and happy resolution. I think it just felt sluggish in the middle.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own.
While the premise of this book was interesting the story did not hold up. Unfortunately the writing was poor and more editing before publishing is needed. I had to DNF it because I could not get through it.
I love a good alien romance. And this book had a lot of promise. But unfortunately I was really thrown off by all of the grammatical errors throughout the book. Most of these errors could have been corrected with the help of a decent editor. The dialogue was also pretty rough, and it felt like the author was having a hard time making conversations between characters feel natural. The smutty scenes were also very repetitive. Like I said though, this book does have promise, but there also seems like a lot more work needs to be done to make it great.
My Alien Prince by Reverie Harwood is my first sci-fi romance of the year and I really enjoyed reading it.
Drax was my favorite character, even though I loved the main female character, Katy, too. I loved the slow buildup of their romance and felt it was genuine to the story as a whole. The worldbuilding was done really well to and it was a story that I will want a paperback copy for my bookshelf at home.
3.75 🌟.
An engaging Alien romance with depth and wonderful characters.
I enjoyed the story and Drex was a sweet and considerate hero. I also liked his devotion to Katy.
Katy was headstrong and impulsive. Even though I liked her, I thought she was a bit impulsive at dangerous situations and didn’t like her two actions.
This one was really hot with Alien appendages *wink*.
But at times I thought certain scenes needed a little more polish.
Overall and ok read with low angst.
Recommended.
Received an Advanced Reader’s Copy from the author/publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
I remember when this genre first released, it was both a shock and a hit. I remember reading maybe one or two books in Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarian series. They were all quick, joy reads but the series never stuck with me. I think I struggle sometimes with similar arc, but different stories kind of books. For someone that loves familiar patterns, I don’t know what my deal is. I honestly requested for/decided to read this book on a whim.
Anyway, circling back to MAP, the set up is a liiiiiiittttttllllllleeee like IPB. Honestly, it would be hard not to be similar given that it’s about aliens and human interaction. However, it has its own very unique stage and plot and differences. One thing that Reverie Harwood really excelled in was making the reader feel strangeness of things. I think most authors, readers, all of us focus on the similarities. We want to see things we know and understand and can digest because it doesn’t mess with our experience. But Harwood really challenges that a little, which makes sense given that it was a whole other world, species and livelihood.
I think the most special thing about this story is its heart. There’s a lot of heart in Harwood’s writing and that’s really what kept me going throughout. The book has a sweet tenor to it throughout and I loved how the people of Xavia were so respectful and kind. The set up of the book was a lot more serious than I would’ve imagined. I won’t lie, I had a flash back to this scary movie I watched as a kid which had a grotesque creature in it. *shudders*
Definitely check trigger warnings before entering.
Typically I’m never concerned with the number of typos a book has, but this particular version did have a lot of misspells, misplaced character names etc. However, a few days ago the author sent out to a mail requesting everyone who hadn’t yet read the book to download the updated version. I was almost sad I had finished reading MAP by then. I don’t really let my rating be influenced by typos, the only reason I mentioned it is because I love that the author is re-looking at her work, reworking it, making it better before putting it out there.
Three/three and a half stars! Happy reading! This book is absolutely free for KU subscribers!
Katy and her sister Sara get on a space ship for what they think will be a nice vacation. Katy will get paid for taking photographs of the alien planet and her debt from the wedding that didn't happen will be paid for. They are put into statis for the journey but once they arrive they find out that their government lied to them and they are there to help repopulate the alien species in exchange for some metals that are on the planet.
The aliens are shocked that the human government would lie to the women but make sure that they know that they will be treated well and are under no obligation to mate with anyone. The aliens are very good hosts. But another alien race, are a species everyone has to hide from because they can fly and will kidnap anyone outside. Though it's not really said what happens to them once they are taken, I was under the impression that they are killed and eaten.
Drex is the alien prince and Katy is being hosted by him in his home. She is adamant that as soon as the ship comes back, she is leaving but the longer she and Drex are around each other, the more she starts to feel something for him. Drex already has feelings for her but is the perfect gentleman until she makes a move and lets him know that she wants more.
The sex scenes were spicy! Oh my goodness, the author made these alien men, very alien and I liked it. But there is a bit of a miscommunication or not enough communication between them and they almost don't get their happy ending. Katy's sister finds herself mated to Vance, her alien host and they are very happy together so she doesn't want her sister to leave when the ship comes back for their payment of the alien metal.
I really liked this story, I love the alien men and how gracious and nice they were. I would definitely recommend this if you like alien worlds and alien romance.
Disclosure: I was give this book for free via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I fell in love with this genre when reading Ice Planet Barbarians from Ruby Dixon. This book was funny, entertaining and sexy.
I did like this book, a little fast pace, but I appreciated the dialog between the main characters and the spicey scenes >:)
Thank you to Netgalley, BooksGoSocial, and Ms. Harwood for the opportunity to read an ARC of this title. An honest review was requested but not required.
Alien romance is a (guilty) pleasure. I’ve read a lot of it, at this point. So when I saw this book, the premise and cover struck me immediately as my kind of story.
Unfortunately, it did not live up to its premise. Drex struck me as WAY more into Katy than she was into him. I know he learned English to speak to Katy, but he used many slang words and colloquialisms that I just didn’t buy into (oh, gosh!, for example. He turned to his own language for expressions often enough that I would have expected him to do it consistently). Katy didn’t seem to properly appreciate the danger she was in, and frankly, didn’t seem to appreciate that she had no ownership of her sister’s situation or decisions. And you know what, I was not a fan of the triple genitals. That was just too much for me. There was a lot of telling here and not much showing. Sadly, this wasn’t my cup of tea.
⭐⭐
I loved the premise of this book. It was different to other alien romances I have read in the past as no one was abducted or starting out as a human slave. Just 2 regular girls on your run of the mill alien planet vacation.
While the plot was entertaining, I felt that there were too many internal monologues throughout the book. Every single thought any character had was very well described. Even some scenes were shown through multiple lenses - which broke up the storytelling in a way I did not like.
I would read another book in this series or by this author however if I found a similar voice in other books I may not continue on after that.

I received a copy of eARC for my honest opinion.
Would you travel to an alien plant to relax and unwind because wow it looks like a tropical resort, oh and even better you will be getting paid to go on this vacation as well. On top of getting paid, you get to stay there for about 1 year. Heck However, once you get there you find out that the government has made an agreement with the aliens, women to help populate their plant in exchange for precious metals and you had no clue about it. What would you do? Go along with it, fight and make your life “living hell” for the remaining time there?
I really enjoyed this book, and I can’t wait to read more from this author. I thought the plot was well done, the characters were well-written, and the world building was done amazingly. The smut in this book was well done, and wow all I have to say magic does happen in threes. If you want to find out more you will have to read this book, I won’t spoil anything for you.
With the characters, I found that Katy’s story was really sad, and I was able to connect with her. There were times that I thought she was being a little repetitive. She does have a lot of character development though and I am happy to see how she turned a scary moment into something amazing for herself.
Drex is such a sweetheart through and through. I loved how he handled the women after he found out that our government lied to them, helped them to understand they would not be forced into anything at all. Even knowing that this program wouldn’t work for his people without having a chance for future generations. For being a prince, he had a lot on his shoulders but never once took it out on anyone.
I thought the world that was built, even its scary creatures, was so beautiful. Even knowing the dangers on that Xavia I would love to go see that place, but only this beautiful place the author made. I mean who wouldn’t want to see some hot/sexy men and the things those men can do.. DANG! If you love or like spice in your books, then this fantasy/sci-fi is a book you should read. I would rate the spice 3.5-4
I recommend this book to anyone who likes spice, fantasy/sci-fi, fated mates (called rotha bond), romance, sexy alien men and some action.
I want to thank NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the opportunity to review this book.
I’ll sum this up really quick, I enjoyed the book and that’s all I really look for but for a review I want to be thorough for others who may be interested. So here it goes the writing isn’t fantastic but I can tell that it got better as the book went on. There was a few times that I felt lost because of it but notthing to make me DNF the book. Now on to the story, I really enjoyed what the author wrote in terms of the story they created. I like the characters and the romance and the way things worked out. I will be picking up the next book in the series as I am very interested to see what comes next. I’m trying to be vague with details as I do not want to spoil anything. I am honestly excited for the next book, even at 3 stars this book was a good book. The only thing was the writing and as I said it got better as the book went on. So all in all, I recommend this book if you’re okay with not perfect writing but are here for a good ole Alien romance.
If you liked Ice Planet Barbarians, then I think you'll like this book!
Katy's fiancé never showed for their wedding and it was near impossible for her to go back to work as a wedding photographer after. She's down and out, financially and emotionally. Until her sister, Sara, starts the process to apply for an Earth-sponsored year cultural exchange on planet Xavia. Katy couldn't let her go alone so across the galaxies they go. Upon arrival, the women are informed that they're being dropped on this planet to help repopulate the dying Xavian people. After being duped by the government, Katy doesn't easily trust the men on Xavia even though she's wildly attracted to her host, Prince Drex. But what will happen when she's in close proximity to Prince Drex all day, every day?
I really enjoyed this book! It's a quick & fun read with some interesting alien anatomy 👀 It's told in dual POV between Katy & Drex, which makes it interesting to see his side of their interactions. However, after some scenes in one character's POV, it would switch to the other character's POV & completely re-tell the scene with their own thoughts / feelings. This made some of the book very repetitive. Also, the ending seemed rushed compared to the rest of the book. Overall, I really enjoyed the storyline and I'm interested to see where the series goes from here!
Thank you to NetGalley and Reverie Harwood for allowing me to read an early copy in exchange for an honest review.
Well, where do I sign up for a Xavian vacation?
Katy's life becomes a mess when her fiancé leaves her before the wedding and she finds herself in debt. Being a wedding photographer makes it difficult for her to work through this mess. She joins her sister on a trip to Xavia, where they discover they must serve as wombs for the Xavian race. Despite the population crisis, the Xavians treat them with respect.
The story of Katy and Drex is amazing. Katy brings emotional baggage from her past and has trouble trusting others, but Drex is sweet and understanding of her situation, and he is ready to let her go even though she is his mate. The author does an outstanding job of blending a great plot, spicy elements, and well-developed characters.
If you enjoyed 'Ice Planet Barbarians,' you should read this book.
A huge thanks to NetGalley & Reverie Harwood for providing this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Before I explain anything… overall, I was happy with the story and got sucked in enough to finish it within a few days. I’d love to read part 2 and see where this story goes, or even meet other couples! I’ll explain my low rating, but wanted to be clear that there are really good parts to this book that are worth a read! 💕
What I Loved:
📸 right off the bat the FMC is very intelligent and seems to see things that other people can’t. Her inner dialogue made me realize things even I wouldn’t have noticed & I loved that.
📸 the FMC was determined to pull her own weight & take care of her sister, and that remained true though out the entire story.
📸 the MMC was very relatable but still managed to be a leader and try to put his people first. There was something about Drex that you couldn’t help but love, and instantly rooted for him.
📸 the background story of the people on this planet was so interesting. I want to read more simply to find out how they survive and triumph! I would’ve LOVED to see more of the characters that were talked about but we never got to meet. I think it would’ve added some more diversity in the plot line and helped the FMC fall in love with the planet.
📸 Lastly, the spicy scenes. They were scorching & very sexy! I love monster romance bc you never know what you’re going to get when the MMC takes off his pants or shows off his tongue and we are NOT disappointed when it comes to Drex 🥵
What I didn’t like:
👽 The biggest issue i had with this book boils down to writing. The inner dialogue felt like a giant ramble for both characters + many typos. This of course could be fixed with a good editor or some extra beta reading!
👽 some of the word choices during the spicy scenes made me physically cringe. Cavern, curtains, crotch, & trunk. I’ll let you figure out what the author was referring to with these words 🙃
👽 although I loved Drex in general, his dialogue felt too feminine & Juvenal. Obviously it’s an alien planet and the author can choose however they want their characters to be, but it was hard to incision this as an alien planet when everyone talked like they were in their freshman year at college and not running a kingdom in a far away galaxy lol.
👽there wasn’t any real sexual tension between these two. They kinda just eventually got together & THEN it was scorching hot.

If you were left at the alter would you chose to risk it all and travel the Universe (with your sister). The chance to see handsome aliens and be part of an all new environment, paid for by the government. Well that is exactly Katy decided to do. Crazy part is not all was disclosed to them when they signed up. They made it to the planet (check) but didn't know they were brought there under entirely different circumstances! The government had not told them they were a group of woman chosen to see if the could successfully breed with the native (aliens) to increase the population. And guess what this was news to the aliens too!
They have a year to meet and see if they match with anyone. Katy gets matched with Drex the Xianan prince. Overall the aliens welcomed them, learned the language, presented them with safe environments. It was an interesting ride for both alien's and human women as they get to know each other. Katy quickly learned there are benefits of being more than friends with these aliens!!! Happy reading....
1.25/5 stars! The premise of this book was exciting to me. It sounded a bit like Naomi Lucas' "Viper," so I had a lot of hope for the story. Unfortunately, it read more like fan fiction than a developed work of its own. There were just so many errors that it was impossible to stay invested in the story or root for the characters. After several revisions, I'd be open to reading it again.
I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Now, I’m an alien romance lover until I die. I love em, so I’m not at all surprised that I enjoyed this one. It was short but it explained things well enough that I wasn't left confused. Great world building AND great character development! The chemistry between the main characters flowed well along with the story!
