This is a fun story with an even better message- its not about the items we have, its about who we experience life with. The pictures are bright and colorful which makes it appealing for younger readers as well.

Loved this book! So silly and fun, Would love to use this book during speech therapy to keep kids engaged! Beautiful pictures (and I loved they the dragon reminded me of Figment from EPCOT).

This was a really fun Easter book and I loved the surprise inside the eggs at the end of the book. The illustrations were colorful and engaging and this would make a great addition to any library.

I really enjoyed the colourful illustrations, very Easter-themed! I also thought the word plays are cute and the rhyming works well for the story. The story itself is a little lacking for me, and I didn't quite appreciate the silly poop eggs.

I have become utterly obsessed with Happy Yak's books, after reading a handful of new ones to my children recently. Each book features vibrant artwork that transports you on a fun new adventure. The rhyming and pacing are always loads of fun, and the stories feature lovable characters with memorable personalities. While every story has a subtle message or lesson, I really like the balance between a fun, storytime and trying to teach your children something important. These days, a lot of children's books put a lot of focus on the lesson that the whimsy and joy of discovering a new favourite storybook is lost. This is not the case with Happy Yak's books, who put the story at the forefront. Really loved this one - the Hot Cross Bunny is a firm favourite, and will be revisited several times as we prep for Easter.

I loved the colourful illustrations and the fun rhyming. The story itself was quite fun and it made me giggle. This is the perfect book for children!

Steve is about to be in hot water. It’s time to harvest the chocolate eggs for Easter, only……he never grew any.

Can he take a shortcut and save the day, or will his experiment destroy the Easter Egg Hunt for everyone?

My Thoughts: This is a cute premise for a book. I like the twists and turns this book takes and think kids will get a kick out of the dragon that poops chocolate especially (even though that was a bit much for me!)

Overall, the story is clever (including the title), and an eggscellent read as well. 🙂

I didn’t totally love the artwork, but the story was a lot of fun.

The Easter Bunny is upset about not having any chocolate eggs to hide so he decides to grow his own. But what he ends up growing is an egg that hatches out a dragon that eats ALL of the chocolate eggs. His plan back-fired! he comes up with a solution (that is gross but the kids will find hilarious) to have chocolate eggs to hide. He makes some new friends along the way and learns to be brave.
Cute idea and the illustrations were so colorful.

We loved The Hot Cross Bunny. The story was engaging and a fun, quick read for young readers for Easter time.

I loved the illustrations, they are bright, beautiful and quirky. They have been done with love, care and attention and are clearly done by a professional - not a collection of clip art like some children's books we have reviewed in the past.

The story was fun and unique and something we both recommend. Five stars and a big thumbs up!

Um, this was....Ok. I don't really know what to make of it. The illustrations were good. I quite enjoyed them. The storyline was told kinda in Rhythm but at the same time it felt messy. Some parts just didn't rhyme so it had a jagged feel to it.

The storyline was also a little too strange for me. I can see some kids would like it but I think a decent amount would think the whole 'dragon poop' part was a bit much. Expecually since poop is the same colour as chocolate. For me personally that made me feel a bit queasy.

I think the general overall story had potential and particularly the positive message it had at the end about how Easter Day isn't just about winning a prize and eating chocolate. But yeah, this version just isn't for me or me as a small child and I can't see my 6 year old neice enjoying it either unfortunately. But like I said, there will be some who enjoy it.

Such a cute and quirky book! This would be so fun to read to my class! Love the picture and the story was great!

I enjoyed reading this book as it was a fun rhyming story. The illustrations were done well and lots of color. The best thing about Easter day is not the chocolate or winning the prize, but to share joy and laughter and make a new friend...good lesson for kids....Not sure I would have put in the story about what the eggs were made of though. But I'm sure some kids will think it is funny. Thank You to NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

This is a bit of an odd storyline, and good for any kid that thinks that a dragon pooping out chocolate eggs would be funny (all kids?).

Sorry too gross in the poop part for the little girl I was reading it too. Shame as nice pictures rhymes

This was so funny to me! I loved the colors and the art, it's very playful and eye-catching. In this one, Easter eggs came is actually a dragon's poop? lols. That one really made me laugh and cringe at the same time. Good thing we don't practice Easter egg hunt tradition here in my country because that would really ruin the fun of it, I guess.

I'm a bit torn on this. While I love a silly fun random picture book - and so do the kids - the poop eggs were a bit too much of silly funny and crossed the line to gross which I'm not a fun off even though, again, I know the kids will be. Really not sure about it but enjoyed the randomness up until the pooping.

This book had fun illustrations and a silly story.

Anytime I read kids a story that has “poop” in it, it’s a win. This book is no different. It’s a little all over the place with randomness but it works.

An interesting take on the Easter Bunny. Steve lives on the Isle of the Great Easter Bunny. Unfortunately, he was cross as he had not grown any chocolate eggs to compete in the Gold Cup annual competition. He makes one last effort by using his own style rather than following the instructions. To his friend and his shock, an egg grows overnight. They are even more stunned when a dragon hatches. They head to the Real World to save it from this dragon only to discover that Trevor is friendly. Wonderful lesson on not judging on stereotypes. The end is not as original as I would prefer but younger readers will love the gross humor. Don't miss the last illustration on the end page.
