This was a trip! The cover is so nice, I would like to have it as a poster. The plot is fun and enjoyable. It is not high literature but it is damn entertaining and that is more important to me.
What did I just read?
Now, mind you, I knew (or so I thought) what I was getting into when I requested a book titled "Dino Stud", but the cover was too fun to resist and I figured it would be a funny, quick read. And while it was both of those things, the ending and then a couple grammar mistakes made me have to bump the rating down to a 1 star read.
SPOILERS AHEAD!!
I went into this knowing it wouldn't be 5 stars, but I was going to try and accurately rate it based on how much I enjoyed it. At first, I thought we were going to have a great time, but finding out our MMC is not only a clone of a dead man but PART T-REX???? WHAT?? That was too much for me to handle, along with the fact these people met each other yesterday and now they're confessing their love for each other. If this book had just been smut with dinosaurs or a man who owned dinosaurs, I could get behind that. But the spicy scene was about one page, if that, and not very exciting. Of the 112 pages in this book, Tallulah (yes that's her name) is thirsting for Reid for about 90 of them, and only spends 1 pages actually acting on those desires. WHAT??
I also appreciated that the author was trying to show that she's open-minded and inclusive, but adding in a nonbinary assistant was the funniest thing she could have done because of the following quote.
"Wait, they? So... they/them?"
"Yes."
"And you are...?"
"He/him. I'm just a man."
I paraphrased a bit, but that is almost word for word the exchange our two main characters have and I SCREAMED. There's also a point that Tallulah and Rowan (the assistant) are talking, and then all of a sudden it cuts off in mid-conversation to go to a different scene with Reid. Or another scene where Rowan is accidentally referred to as Tallulah.
So with all these cringey pieces put together, I unfortunately cannot give this anything but a 1 star rating... but the cover is amazing and I need a little poster of it for my bookshelf right now.
It is a tragedy that I never got around to reading this one, it seemed like an absolutely wild ride. Just going to have to pick it up at the library later on down the road.
I honestly feel cheated that there was no dino sex in this? Actually very little sex at all for a book that calls itself erotica. The cover is fantastic and the plot is wild, but I was just expecting something even crazier based on my previous experiences with this author. I will continue to read this series because it's hilarious but I hope it really embraces the dinos in the next one.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book! The title and this beautiful cover drew me in and i was excited to read this book! I will be recommending this book to others for readers advisory.
This had a really interesting synopsis and I wasn't sure what to expect but it was a fun read. I enjoyed it and was able to read it quickly.
I honestly picked this one because of the insane plot. I was certainly not let down. If you want a short, wild, and absolutely hilarious read. This is the book for you. Was it good? No. Not really. However, worth the read just for the insanity of it all.
If you've ever thought to yourself, "I'd like a book with Jurassic Park vibes but hornier," then this is the book for you! This was a fun, quick read. There were a few twists that weren't too surprising but still made the story interesting. Don't come in looking for any deep sci-fi commentary or heavy character development. The main characters fall in love via their mutual dino interests. That's pretty much the story!
Could have used 500 more pages, truth be told. I bought my own physical copy because I wanted this beauty to be displayed. Lola is a paleogenius.
This was… interesting. Felt very rushed, didn’t really care for the insta love. I did really love the cover though.
This was a quick and entertaining read - campy at times and sometimes quite funny. You pretty much get what you’d expect from the cover!
This book was not what I expected. Much stranger than I am used to reading. The premise of a dinosaur ranch in the middle of nowhere was interesting, but the plot was slow and it was hard for me to finish the book.
This was such a fun read. Not what I was expecting! I look forward to reading more by this author in the future!
This was an ok book. There did not seem to be a plot. I am sure what the purpose of the book was. The formatting was off.
You get exactly what you’d expect just by looking at the cover. This was a quick entertaining read and honestly hilarious at times. Be ready for campy plot and Dinos amidst a scene you would expect to read.
If you like Dinosaurs and you like Romance novels, this is for you. Otherwise, the story was not good. The guy dies and they bring him back as a hybrid human/dino? I mean I guess it gave me a good laugh as I was reading this, and my fellow librarians were laughing along with me as I told them the plot, so there's that.
How does one rate a book that is bonkers from beginning to end? Honestly, I loved it. Sometimes bonkers dino romances are exactly what you need to read.
This was just some fun and very odd Jurassic park inspired erotica. Super fun and very silly. I did was that they story had more exposition for the overall plot and story. The characters, although were flat, it still dint really sway my enjoyment of the story.

Should I read in order?
This stands alone fine.
Basic plot:
Tallulah is overjoyed when she gets a summer job at Dino Ranch
Give this a try if you want:
- Futuristic dinosaur Earth setting in Missouri
- paleontology student heroine
- LGBT positive
- shorter novel
- Average steam – 1 full scene in a shorter page count
- presumed dead
Ages:
- Heroine is 25, didn’t see hero’s age
My thoughts:
So, on goodreads there’s a note “The newest novel in Lola Faust’s Dinosaur Erotica line” but this one I would not say is erotica at all. There’s 1 sex scene and it’s pretty vague and it reads as a standard romance – there’s not much focus on the sex at all and it’s definitely not about the sex journey. Perhaps her novel Triceratops and Bottoms would count in that category but I wouldn’t count this one!
This plot maybe isn't the strongest, but I enjoyed the ride for the most part! Being a shorter novel, we don't get a ton of character depth and I would have loved to have known Reid better and gotten a more solid HEA for them. Overall though this one was pretty fun.
This book was completely ridiculous. I don't understand the whole dino erotica fad, but it feels like the author is just churning out books with no real substance. The only good thing about this book was the fact that the main characters had relations with each other instead of dinosaurs.
