Let me start by saying the cover got me. I LOVE THE COVER!
But thats about it. Jumped all over the place. I am all for some well written insta love and this was not. The "smutty" part of the book was underwhelming. The "shocking" part of the book was just meh. Even though this is only 60-ish pages, I'd pass on this one!
Ok friends what did I just read… I mean if we are going off of the cover alone it’s an obvious 10/10! But the story itself I felt like I was playing bumper cars because it kept jumping from place to place. Very insta-lovey which I keep realizing I’m not a fan of but it’s a novella and only 63ish pages, so I guess that kinda has to happen. As for the end twist… well I’ll let you check that out for yourself 😉
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5

Tallulah has dedicated her entire life to her love of dinosaurs. For her summer internship, she commits herself to just showing up at the most advanced dinosaur research facility dubbed “the Ranch” and asking for a job. Tallulah instantly falls in love with the lead scientist, despite being warned she shouldn’t get involved.
I honestly had no clue what I was getting into when I requested this book, but honestly, it didn’t disappoint. My enjoyment of this novella was very similar to how I felt about Ice Planet Barbarians. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good, yet I still enjoyed it for what it was. Does that make sense? I loved the Jurassic Park vibes and really felt immersed in this world where dinosaurs now exist and of course wanted more!
Naturally with a book of less than 100 pages, this is an instalove situation, but girl, I’m sure I’d be in the same boat! Tallulah falls for Reid the moment she lays her eyes on him, but there’s just something else about him that she can’t put her finger on… You’ll just have to take a couple hours to find out for yourself!
This book, as well as a few others, can already be found on Kindle Unlimited, so please pick this up because I’m dying to talk about how ridiculous it is!
Thank you to Lola Faust, BooksGoSocial, and NetGalley for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Dino Stud.... the book that is exactly how it sounds
To be honest, I was expecting something super dramatic and wild given the authors' other book descriptions. While still wild, this quick read was well written and enjoyable! Tallulah puts a lot of work into figuring out just where exactly The Ranch is located and heads in to demand a summer job at the dinosaur breeding facility. She gets just that and even more when Lead Scientist Reid decides to take that risk on her. A lot of action, both dino and *otherwise*, are packed into this short story and it made for a fun morning escape.
Thanks NetGalley, BooksGoSocial, and Lola for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Hot damn. This was such a crazy ride. Wild. It’s steamy but oh so wild! It’s definitely an interesting plot!
You know those books that you just have to read for the sheer ridiculousness of it? This is one of those. HOWEVER, I was pleasantly surprised. It was actually well-written with some solid character development (well, as much as you can have in so few pages). My dinosaur interests were piqued and my romance needs were intrigued. This feels like an introduction to future novels at “the Ranch” and I’ll be keeping my eye out!
I’ve been seeing this one all over Bookstagram, and when I tell you this book was wild…
BLURB: Talulah Cole was in for the summer of her life, working doing dinosaur research at “The Ranch”… little did she know that she was about to find a lot more than she bargained for.
As I mentioned this book was tons of fun. However, to properly enjoy it, you need to suspend all forms of reality. Do not go into this picking things apart and trying to rationalize anything.
This book is a quick read, something you can enjoy during a lunch break, and definitely a guilty pleasure. Without giving too much away, we have:
🦖A strong heroine (bonus points because she’s described realistically)
🦖 A summer camp vibe is definitely present
🦖 Obviously an epic T-Rex fight scene. My only complaint, I wish it was a little steamier.
Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥
I went into this expecting dinosaur smut and a good time. That’s not what I got. Literally NOTHING happens for the first 80% of this book. And I promise I’m not even exaggerating, it was a hot mess of uselessness. I skimmed through so much useless descriptions and randomness because I was so unbelievably bored. Then at 82% you get the one and only spicy scene (which was just ok) and then a bunch of corny, cringy completely dumb shit. I did not enjoy this, I actively very much dislike it. It wasn’t fun and it wasn’t worth it. For a book the size of a novella it was still not worth it and it felt much longer because of how bored I was
A quick, fun romp that's perfect for fans of Jurassic Park-esque adventure. The writing and character development takes second place to a bonkers storyline that readers will have to suspend belief on in order to fully enjoy.
The story follows Tallulah, a twenty-something who finesses herself an internship at a secret dinosaur ranch where she discovers a believed-to-be-dead paleontologist, Reid, who is actually very much alive and thriving. And also very hot. Who needs feminism and a strong female character when you have a DINO STUD?
The book has a surprise reveal at the end that continues its trend of wildness and isn't actually that huge of a reveal. I mean, come on.
I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher in return for an honest review. This review is based entirely on my own thoughts and feelings.

Having had a good old giggle with a book group about this series, I think this must be the most tame out of all of them. I say I think because I haven’t read any of the others and I’m in two minds about changing that. But even the title is tame in comparison. (Go on, go look at the rest)
This was a good enough story, very basic characters but her writing skill was good. On the face of it it was a nice story about dinosaurs, falling in instant love with one smut scene thrown in for good measure. Okay overall.
Off to see about the rest of the series and see if I’m brave enough….
Ok, but why did I like this so much? Maybe because it gave me Jurassic Park vibes and I LOVE Jurassic Park?
This was way less unhinged than I was expecting having just read Triceratops and Bottoms. There was actual plot here and the writing was so much better. . I honestly wish it had been a full length book so we could have gotten a little more slow burn on the romance and we could have explored Reid and The Ranch a bit more.
I'm not sure why this is classified as erotica as there is only one, short spicy scene.
Overall, this was fun as heck and I'm probably going to keep reading Lola's dino books.
Tallulah is a post-grad student in paleontology and an obsession with dinosaurs. There’s a mythical ranch in Missouri where dinosaurs are raised and she’s determined to be a summer intern there.
There’s secrets, STEM, steam and a HEA!
Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC.
This is a short read about a FMC paleontologist who tries to find a Ranch with dinosaurs that she has heard about to get a job. Once there, she meets the MMC, the owner of the Ranch and they fall in love.
This book was good for what it is. The short length impeded my ability to feel much chemistry between the MC's even though instalove sometimes works for me as a trope.
Thank you NetGalley!!
For a book about a girl falling in love at a Dinosaur Ranch. It was so tame, I expected more romance. Then the author just drops the most crazy plot twist and the book just ends. It left me wanting more, I think the book would benefit from a longer story. But overall I was entertained. And I want to read more from the author
This was entertaining, but I was expecting it to be a lot weirder than it was. I would honestly check out more books by this author because their writing style worked for me and also because I want to see if they ever write more bonker books than this one ended up being.
Oh, this book. I mean, how can you not read it with a cover like that??
And let me tell you, Dino Stud is amazing. The set up: Tallulah, a 25 year old palentology PhD student, learns about a super-secret dino park (because this is an alternate universe in which people have the technology to clone dinosaurs, a la Jurassic Park) and decides she *must* get a summer internship there. So she sleuths out the location, shows up unannounced, and is miraculously handed her dream internship. Reid, the titular Dino Stud, runs the park and is ACTUALLY A FAMOUS PALEONTOLOGIST WHO DIED YEARS AGO IN A MYSTERIOUS HELICOPTER CRASH. But is really alive, obviously. Love and shenanigans ensue.
Yes, this book has its flaws. The FMC, for instance, starts out as a full human being who is shown to be strong, smart, independent, and interesting, but once she gets to the dino park and predictably immediately falls in love with Reid, her personality flattens into a moderately boring, Reid-obsessed dummy. There's attempt at queer inclusion, mainly by having a non-binary side character, but it seemed frankly half-assed and was overshadowed by the heteronormativity of the rest of the book. It's also an insta-love story, but not, I think, a very believable one.
BUT NONE OF THAT MATTERED (much, to me). Because the flaws were accompanied with a ridiculous, over the top, silly, fun bonkers-ness that just fucking glowed.
And the last 10% of the book was a hilarious delight. This is when the Big Reveal happens, which was apparently surprising to Tallulah but likely won't be to anyone who actually reads the book or pays even a smidgen of attention to the five million hints dropped throughout the story. Despite the Big Reveal being entirely predictable, the delivery of it is incredible. I actually cackled (not a word I've ever used before to describe a sound that came out of me)--loudly--for much of the last few chapters of the book.
This book is entirely worth an hour of your life, if you are a person who likes fun, absurd things and wants to laugh a lot.
The book, generally: some stars, some notes
The last 10% of the book: 1 million stars, 10/10, no notes
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC!
Exactly what I needed. A fun book with a wacky plot that was quick to read.
I was able to escape for 2 hours and have a good laugh.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one., but it was a fun short read that did a nice job building a world where dinosaurs could exist again. Honestly it did a surprisingly good job of making this implausible world seem completely feasible.
I generally try to only request books I think we will get in stock in our store but I got this one out of curiosity. Really glad I did.
A very short story
I had a very low expectation of this book from all the reviews I've been reading. But it wasn't that bad actually. And it wasn't a pretend know-it-all on dinosaurs. She knew what she's writing about. Even if it's not the real fact, at least her writing is believable. Maybe just as some part I was like is it... Like this?
And yes it's a short story but it wasn't too spicy. Like some of us might expect it will. But the girl is really horny as hell. Plus the twist doesn't shock me anymore since everyone has been mentioning it on all of the reviews.
After reading several dark romances I was looking for something quick and a bit lighthearted and the first thing that caught my attention with Dino Stud was the cover. It’s like a romance from the 70s and you can almost hear the heroine breathing “my hero” in a sultry tone. I was expecting dino porn but this book reads like a cheesy, early Mills & Boon with only one sex scene - ‘his erection strained at the fabric of his briefs. “Is that for me” she whispered “you god of desire”. It definitely made me laugh which I’m sure wasn’t the author’s intention but although it’s been a change of pace from my usual reading matter I don’t think I’ll be reading anything else by her. In future if I’m in the mood for animalistic lust I’ll stick to wolf shifter romance.
