I don't even have an excuse for reading this. If I'm completely honest, I just freaking love dinosaurs and romance haha. Even if this one is very insta-lovey which isn't really my thing.

There's literally no way I can describe this other than it's like if Jeff Goldblum's character had a fever dream during a Jurassic Park/World movie. Unbuttoned shirt, DNA science weirdness and all.

My only complaint is that there weren't enough Dinos.

Dino Stud was published on February 8, 2023. Thank you to BooksGoSocial, NetGalley and the author for the advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Well, I kept an open mind as I started this book. It does have instant love with a twist. The book did make me laugh at times, but for different reasons. I do love the cover. Thanks for the ARC.

Dino Stud
by Lola Faust

First of all the cover is great! This is an enjoyable romance novella that is about a university student
studying paleontology who goes to the middle of nowhere to intern at a dinosaur breeding refuge.

I would have liked the story to be longer with some sensual explorations of the revelations we got at the end of the book.

All in all it was a fun and unique book.

Thank-you to author Lola Faust, BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

So after seeing this on TikTok I just couldn’t resist the hype for some Dino love!

This is a very short story about a student palaeontologist who goes in search of a well hidden Dinosaur facility in the hopes of bagging a summer job within the field she adores. The owner and head Dino guy just so happens to be a swoony, tall, muscled hotty.

This is extreme insta love with some spice. There is no denying it is silly, but if you want some light hearted fun then this is a good choice.

Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for the opportunity to read this in advance.

I am not sure how I feel about this one. I'm a bit perplexed by it all. I love insta-love romance but this was like a bad 80's movie or something. And low-key I kind of like it. I really did. It felt a little rush towards the end but it was enjoyable to me.
I still think there was more to the story because Reid has to have some more secrets. What do you think?

Also, did anyone else notice that the description of Tallulah didn't match the cover?

Definitely a 3.5 for me.

Good distraction

this book was not my favorite. not sure why it was called Erotic. There was really nothing in it. They talked alot about dinosaurs but the was really it. there was one scene of sex. I will see about the next book.

This book was exactly what it promised to be- Tallulah is an adventurous grad student looking for her summer job at The Ranch, the only dino free-range reservation in the country. When she finally finds it, things are…not as they appear. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the characters to turn into dinos, which never happened. This promised to be a dino romance, and while there were dinosaurs and romance, the romance felt like an age gap as well as a weird boss/employee thing.

FYI spoilers below!

This is a fun, silly little book! Simple but Jurassic Park vibes in a fun way. I'll give it 4 stars because it's doing what it wants to do well, but I kinda wish there were more to him being a hybrid. Like, it's predictable and kind of tacked on. Also, with the title stud I kept waiting to hear that he was the literal father of the other dinosaurs lol and can't decide whether I'm glad that was or wasn't the case.

Remember when I said “you can’t judge a book by its cover”? Well, I lied- bc this book cover tells us everything we need to know about this campy, sexy, ridiculous book!

Tallulah is a 25yo paleontology grad student who is obsessed w dinosaurs for no clear reasons other than “I love them”. She totes doodles “Tallulah + Dinos ❤️” in all her grad school notebooks and 100% has a weird Fred Flintstone fetish. She decides to spend her summer on a mysterious dino ranch creatively named “The Ranch” so she uses google Earth to find it and just shows up…and even though the place is shrouded in secrecy, she is allowed to stay to “intern”.

Reid is a sexy, rich nepo-baby, dino dna expert who everyone believes to have died in a helicopter accident. He now acts as the Lord of Dino Manor in East Bumfuck, Missouri where he breeds and raises dinosaurs for unclear purposes since everything he does is a secret. His house is filled with paintings of dinosaurs, including a giant pic of a TRex over his bed, which isn’t weird at all. Nope totes normal.

Upon meeting Reid, Tallulah wants to immediately unearth his dino bone. She keeps reminding herself to keep it profesh bc she’s totes gonna be a paleontologist #dreamjob, but within like 12 hours of meeting Reid she decides they are soul mates. It takes no less than 36 hours for Reid’s thunder lizard to mate with Tallula’s vagasauras. Reid claims it’s true love but perhaps it’s bc she’s the only non-reptile female he’s seen in years. Tallulah doesn’t care bc she’s a numbskull with no standards- ie, she slept with a man who faked his death and has TRex bedroom art.

This novella was cray in the best way ever. I LOL’d many times even though I don’t think it was trying to be funny. Def recommend bc you gotta dip your stego horns into dino smut at least once in your life, right?

Smut- 2.3 stars
Romance- 3.1 stars
Story- 3.9 stars
The fanfuckingtabulous cover- 61 stars

“Dino Stud” is a romance book by Lola Faust. I know it’s binned under Science Fiction, but while there’s discussions about DNA, I’m on the fence about that binning (I guess it’s a better fit than Fantasy, but …). As for it being under “erotica” - um, does once explicit scene erotica make - I don’t know. Anyway, I’ve seen covers of this author’s books before and my hat’s off to her for finding a niche - Dinosaur Romance/Erotica writing. I mean, I’d’ve never thought to write in that genre but she did and with six books under her belt - more power to her. The positives of this book - it’s short, it reads like wonderfully ‘bad’ fanfic, the fantastic throwback cover (swoon!), and in its over the topness it’s hysterically funny (at one point I had to stop the treadmill to laugh at the gym because I would’ve seriously hurt myself on the machine). The meh - other than instalove (but in a short book do you really have time for slowness?) I couldn’t tell you why other than animal magnetism that our heroine fell in love/lust with the hero (and vice versa). Also “hey, I did a Google search and got lucky with a direction, can I work the summer at your ranch” - yep, happens all the time. The bad - if you go in thinking this is going to be a serious literary book, do yourself a favor and pick another book. I’m not sure why one of the secondary characters was there (and why that person leaving was mentioned - a second book in this series???) and there are some plot holes big enough to drive Hummers through … but if you ignore all that - fasten your seatbelt and enjoy the ride. Ms. Faust knows dinosaurs, I’ll give her that … and this was a wonderfully fun break from the deep books I’ve been reading lately. So, overall, a 4 star read for pure entertainment and escapism!

My only problem with this book was the lack of smut. Was I secretly hoping he would turn into a dino when they finally did the do? Yes, but that's on me. Like all of Lola Faust's books, it's a silly goofy little romance. I had a fun time and that's all that matters...I think.

Ummmm,, what did I discover here?
I never knew there was such a thing as “Dino kink”.
You learn something new every day, and it’s usually from Books!
Needless to say, this was a fun, spicy book, not my thing but I can appreciate that the author is a very good writer for this genre!

Thankyou to author Lola Faust and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book!

I have no one to blame but myself for reading this one, I saw this on NetGalley and curiosity really got the best of me here.

Let's start off with things that I liked: the cover art is everything, this was a very quick read at ~200 pages, & I definitely got a few laughs in

Now the for the things I didn't like: info-dumping/the writing style as a whole, & total insta-love even though there's only one sex scene?! 🙃

Look I signed up for wild dinosaur smut and this book just did not deliver that at all.

If they're gonna fall in love day ONE I expect a wild kinky time all over the dino compound not one barely french vanilla steamy scene 😭

I was really expecting more after that blurb not gonna lie, this is the mildest "erotica" I've ever read 😅

Thank you so much to NetGalley for sending me a copy of Dino Stud in exchange for my honest review.

2.5/5⭐ 1/3🌶

This one at least has a better storyline and grammar than "Triceratops and Bottoms" but it was still quite rough.

Listen. Was this exactly what it sounds like? Yes.
Was it instalovey? Yep.
Did we turn a bonkers, bananas corner in the last third that had me going “oh?”? For sure.
Did I have a stupid good time with this? Absolutely.

Dino Stud is exactly what it sounds like: a paleontology student falling in love with a world renowned paleontologist on a dinosaur research ranch. Think…..Jurassic Park, but in Montana with a writing style that is very flowery 90’s romance. What a combo. I live.

Add in a husky, mysterious, kind, super brilliant paleontologist and this was like catnip.

It’s a bit ridiculous in a good way but I wish there had been just a bit more relationship/character development. Even for a novella, it was pretty thin. And honestly? Had this been longer and a bit more detailed, I would have for sure given this 5 stars because THIS is the type of bonkers romance I’m here for. Doesn’t take itself too seriously, leans into the bananas aspect, and is really unique and fun.

Someday there will be a plethora of Sam Neill Jurassic Park inspired romance novels (hopefully with BANGING covers like this.) Until then, Lola Faust can continue to write these novellas and I’ll eat them up to fill the Sam Neill hole in my heart.

I've seen this author's books allllll over Bookstagram and TikTok and Facebook - so I had to get it when it was available as a read now on NetGalley.

I get this was meant to be a quick read - but it all seemed super rushed and left so many unanswered questions. The plot itself could have been more interesting but it did draw me in with the idea of a secret dinosaur ranch that was kept under wraps. Even the idea of the romance with the head ranch guy who had a secret was interesting. But because it was written so quickly and was so short, it just felt weird and unnatural.

Then there was the whole plot twist at the end - which I won't spoil - but I did see it coming. It left even more unanswered questions. Overall, it could have been a better read if the author had expanded on the plot and made the story longer and not such an love at quite literally the first instant.

This one ended up being a 2-star read for me. If the author decides to write a longer book, I might consider reading another one. But this just didn't keep my interest.

Big thanks to NetGalley and Lola Faust for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.

This is exactly what you think it is and the cover immediately had my attention. A quick, fun read if you need something that's just going to be a quick good time. This is definitely for a niche audience, but if you're part of that audience (as I clearly am), you're going to have fun.

Ok…this is the third book I’ve read by this author (I ask myself why I keep putting myself through it), but I really enjoyed this one! The writing seemed so much better, there was an actual storyline and the spicy scene didn’t make me cringe or feel ill! I want to visit a Dino ranch!

I accessed this title in the Read Now section of Netgalley after reading the lovely review of fellow reviewer, Liralen.

Dino Stud is an entertaining quick read that doesn't have a lot of smutty parts. Disappointing, I know! However, it sure did stir my desire to read other titles by Canadian author, Lola Faust(online name) and her other dinosaur titles. Our main female protagonist, Tallulah Cole is a paleontologist grad student who is interested in working at "the ranch."

All the hustle and bustle of a reasonably prosperous small town in farm country. There was no sign that this was the closest town to the most innovative, and the most dangerous, dino-breeding facility this side of the Mississippi.

Tallulah soon meets the gorgeous and renowned researcher of the dinosaur world, Reid Canmore. Reid is the type of man that makes a woman's nipples harden, her breath quicken and her legs spread as wide as they can. So yeah, he's gorgeous!

All of the events of the novella basically happen in a very limited part of time and it's insta-attraction with a whole lot of questions unanswered. So I could probably put this in the 2 star realm but I had zero expectations going in and so I am going to give it a 3 star for how much I laughed at the end. Plus, that cover is gorgeous!
