There are only two pieces of information that you need to decide if this is the book for you:
1) The cover
2) The fact that the promotional materials for the book include the following "advance praise":
"★★★★★ "Exactly what you think it is!" - Reader review"
"★ "Oh my dear lord. Tiktok sent me here and now my life is worse for it" - Reader review"
If you see all that and laugh, you're in the right place. If not, well. I can't help you.
This is basically...well, take Jurassic Park and throw in a twist or two and a saucy romance. The writing is on par with any other self-aware romance novel, but the plot doesn't make all that much sense, and the entire thing takes place over the span of about a day (insta-love galore). But then...I didn't read it for anything to make sense, and I can safely say that I got what I came for.
Now. Quibbles. There must be quibbles:
- I would have liked more dinosaurs.
- The book could have been a bit smuttier. (If the heroine has to go commando in the rush to flee a rampaging dino, surely it's not too much to ask that that comes into play later...)
- More camp! Reid has a gallery of dinosaur paintings—is there really not an etching among them?
Whether or not I can recommend this to you depends entirely on your sense of humor (and perhaps your kinks, but those are none of my business). If the cover is ever turned into postcards, though, I will be buying a pack and sending them without explanation to everyone I know.
Thanks to the author and publisher for providing a free review copy through NetGalley.

This was a step above Triceratops & Bottoms for me. I was a little disappointed that there was no Dino sex in this one, and it took about 80% before there was any (human) spice.
I know I said T&B was Jurassic porn- but THIS book was legit Jurassic Park 2.0. There is a hidden lab of paleontologists experimenting with Dino ✨eggs✨- seems like a great idea right? So obviously one gets loose.
👍🏼more plot than T&B
👍🏼the storyline actually made sense
👎🏼no dino sex
👎🏼not enough dino content
Since this is a Novella there’s obviously not a lot of time for character development and plot- the author did their best. I actually am curious as to what happens next.
Honestly I’ll probably keep reading dino porn. I don’t know. You really never know. I’m probably going to have weird dreams.
Thank you to the author and netgalley for the ebook. This has been quite an experience. All opinions are my own.
This was a crazy book I enjoyed it because it was a short novella and it was different. I like different books what appealed me to get this book ? It was the cover it reminds me of a romance vintage novel and i love those.
Tallulah Cole is a paleontologist and she searches on google to find a way into her summer job. She gets a job at this summer farm that has dinosaurs an she always knew as a kid she had a love for dinosaurs and she ended up working for them at this summer job. She was instantly attracted to her boss who has this dinosaur farm Reid Canmore. He’s built an handsome with muscles. Mind you this is a dinosaur breeding farm lol. The two of them are instantly attracted to one another they have a romp romantic rendezvous and a happily ever after towards the end I love how she calls him her dinosaur stud. Short book really fun read.
I'm not gonna lie, I read this book as a challenge from some book club friends because we are fascinated by Dino-love stories. But, we don't yuck anyone's yum and I decided to read Dino Stud to get an idea of what Dino-love is all about!
Folks, this was a pretty short book - around 64 pages on the NetGalley platform - and I'm giving it 5/5 stars because it absolutely met all my expectations for what I expected from this book.
First off, it was a bit bizarre: but I want that from a book that is about dinosaurs and humans living alongside each other! It's good to stretch our imaginations and wonder what that would look like.
Second, I was sometimes confused, but I expected that, too! In a way, it isn't supposed to make logical sense because, again, Dinos and humans! I was a bit befuddled by how the MMC, Reid, was a hybrid, as were my book club mates and so some clarification there would have been fun.
Third, it's a romance so we expect an HEA and so I went into it knowing it was likely going to be an insta-love, which isn't my fave trope, but because I was expecting it, I wasn't disappointed when that's what it was.
Fourth, because of the length, I wasn't anticipating much character development; sometimes, character development just isn't what we need in a book.
Fifth, it was clear that the author loves her dinosaurs, and this book is a sweet homage to the Dinos she loves. I like that.
So there you go. Was it bizarre? Yes. Was it befuddling? Yes. Was it the best book I have ever read? No. But I didn't go into it thinking it would be the best book ever; I went in expecting a wild ride and this book definitely delivers on that.
This was a quick, fun read with some good world building.
Tallulah Cole is a paleontology doctoral student eager to talk her way onto “The Ranch” a very secretive dinosaur hatchery. Using her Google skills she finds the location and talks her way into a summer job. She is instantly attracted to Reid Canmore - a famous paleontologist-geneticist who also is presumed dead. The attraction and the plot races along and there’s some fun Jurassic Park style sightings before the inevitable dinosaur breach happens cutting short Tallulah and Reid’s sexy times. The truth behind Reid’s existence is revealed a bit abruptly and the story does race to the end and wraps up quickly with some issues that would give me pause - but enjoy yourself Tallulah! Overall, a light fun read.
This was a quick and interesting read. It's not the steamiest of "Dino-Erotica" books, but it does tell a rather unique and interesting story. There's a lot of secrets at the Dino Ranch and Tallulah is happy to be a summer intern on her path to becoming a paleontologist and working with actual dinosaurs on the ranch. The more she learns about her new cohort and the dinosaurs, as well as her hot new boss, the more she knows this is the ultimate job for her. But danger is lurking around the corner if the Dinosaurs get out of hand.
Unlike Lola Faust's other stories, this one plays out a little differently regarding the female main character's love interest and her romantic romps aren't with full blown prehistoric creatures. There is a bit of a twist but I'm not going to spoil that, only to say that it adds to the mystery and secrecy of the ranch and the work they are doing. All in all a solid story and a different side to Lola Faust.
This was…interesting. We have been discussing Dino romance/erotica in my book club and this popped up. Voice memos commenced amongst us. Some spoilers:
Pro: it was short. Provided discussion points and spin off conversations with book club.
Con: not sure of the plot. Unsure how Reid was a hybrid. Would have liked a quick paragraph epilogue to wrap up whether Tallulah was going to be birthing other Dino hybrids.
Now making Dino love a trope. Other tropes include strangers to lovers and insta love, forced proximity. Within 24 hours of knowing each other, Tallulah and Reid went from strangers to coworkers to lovers to Dino queen/king. Quite the relationship arc and I guess when you know, you know.
Thank you to NetGalley and BookSocial for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Unsure if I will continue down the Dino love story line, dip my toes into other creature* erotica, or keep to my regularly programmed open door human/human romance.
Dino Stud by Lola Faust follows Tallulah Cole on her quest to get hands on experience with dinosaurs as she continues to pursue her passion in palaeontology. She decides to spend a summer working on the mysterious 'Ranch' and is instantly attracted to her new boss.
Did I find the spicy scenes corny? Yes.
Did I find the plot obscene? Also Yes.
Did I understand the point of any of the supporting characters (except for Rowan who was like an exasperated chaperone)? No, not at all.
Did I have an awesome time and devour the book in a few hours? You bet.
Its a fast paced quick read, where, what you see is what you get from the title alone. It certainly isn't for everyone, but you should know if this one is for you based on the front cover and title alone. Also, I adore the front cover, I love classic romance novel front covers and this one is just great.
Thanks NetGalley for giving me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.
My bookclub decided that we wanted to try to understand the appeal of “Dino-erotica”. So we came together for the good of the people to read & review this book.
First & foremost - super quick read. As with all erotica, I still don’t understand what happened to the plot and if there was even supposed to be a plot.
Tallulah is on a Dinosaur Ranch and meets Reid. Insta-love & one quick spice scene and now she’s his Dino queen.
Thanks to their falling in love, she’s forever protected from ever being eaten by a Dino because she has Reid’s hybrid Dino specimen in her.
Do I understand the appeal of Dino erotica? No. Would I ever read something like this again? Also no - it’s just not for me.
However, thank you NetGalley and BookSocial for this ARC in exchange for my honest reviews. I decided that I will stick to the open door romcoms that I definitely prefer.
