I have mixed feelings on this book, however, overall it’s definitely worth a read. I’ve always struggled with practising mindfulness but this book introduced me to looking at it in a different way, and it has helped me be more present and active in self-care and reflection. I’d love to read more from the author in the future.

Mindfulness, the ability to be fully present, is a tool explored in Jennifer Allan’s newest book. Mindfulness, the ability to be “mindful” and attend to events, surroundings, and feelings in our world is vastly different from the way that most of us live our lives, on auto-pilot. Research has demonstrated that our health can be positively affected by practicing being mindful. Yet, many don’t have knowledge of it and how to practice it. A Life to be Mindful Network, attempts to teach you how to daily engage actively in this practice. This book is a journal that prompts you to reflect on your goals for the day, your self-care activities, and things that you can change for the upcoming day. I wish that the journal was more colorful and inviting. I also was hoping that there was more instruction in the beginning of the book prior to journaling activity. A neat addition to the journal would be a self -tracking graph so you could somehow indicate your consistency with implementing mindful techniques. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley and Matador for the review copy!

“A Life To Be Mindful Network” by Jennifer Allan is a beautiful book. It is a journal that guides you into loving your life. It is a journal that guides you into being mindful of your life. It is a very beautiful book.

Furthermore, the layout is beautiful and the journal is one you could keep coming back to even after having finished it, if you need some encouragement.

I am sure this journal will help some people out there.

This was a guided journal with the exact same six prompts every day for several weeks, without much information about mindfulness at all. I would have liked to see more variety and more psychoeducation around mindfulness practices and benefits.
