I enjoyed reading this book. Blandon loves eating spicy food, and sometimes this causes misunderstandings with his friends. When a big festival comes, there are some foods they cannot wait to try. As this tale comes to a close, Blandon and his friends learn a good lesson. Most kids will have a lot of fun reading this book.

This is the first book I've read about spicy foods and I really love it! I think it will really help kids open up about the different kinds of foods out there and that not all foods taste yucky!

This was so darn cute! I think kids will love this and the rhyming was fun and easy for kids to read!

Not what I would call an outright success, this rhyming story about a ghost who likes the spicier side of cuisine struggles from the off with both the rhythm of the verse narrative and with the rhymes (matching tourist with florist, and so on). It also hits upon the potential laugh to be had with the idea of a ghost pepper for the ghost to eat, and then misses it. Don't reject it out of hand if you stumble across it, but I didn't find this essential. Two and a half stars.

I wanted to like The Spicy Ghost but after reading it to myself and outloud to my friend's 7 year old, we booth agreed it wasn't the great or bad. She likes ghost so she hoped it would be better

In the realm of children's books, this one was not very good. The story jumped around from page to page and didn't make much sense in the end, The illustrations were a bit beginner-like, and the colours kind of bled together. I read this to my stepdaughter and while she liked the story, I don't think she loved the pictures in the book.

Thank you Netgalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Spicy Ghost isn't the type of book that I myself would traditionally read, but it did look like the kind of fun, simple read my niece (four years old) and two nephews (seven and eight) would get a good laugh out of between school books and their more serious books they read for bed time. And as far as their enjoyment goes, it definitely delivered. They spent most of the story laughing through the silliness as the little ghost munched on spicy foods and enlisted the help of his odd group of friends to get through their day full of scrapes, scares, and of course spice. By the end of Blandon the ghost and his friends' wacky hijinks, each of the kids gave it five (spicy) stars, though they couldn't say what their favorite part of the story was. They did all love Blandon the ghost, though, and the oldest said that he wanted to try and ghost pepper burger one day just like Blandon, much to his parents' chagrin.

Personally, I usually look for books--even kid's books for my nephews and niece--with a bit more structure to them and a full story that you can follow along with, so between the lack of a cohesive story and a more well-meshed rhyme scheme, it wasn't my favorite, though I know I'm not the intended audience. But it did serve up a fun time with the kids and they asked for it multiple times over the next few days after the first reading, and at the end of the day, that was all that mattered.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.

This was a cute rhyming story with some serious Casper the Friendly Ghost vibes to it. Blandon just likes to eat food that would give the average human a major ulcer (probably, I'm not a doctor). This leads to people thinking that he's angry, or scary, or just plain mean. But he's really just misunderstood because he likes his food to have some flavor, and that is a little odd for those of us that are as white as a ghost.

The illustrations in this book were very bright and colorful, and I loved the font used for the narration, especially the way color and size was changed for emphasis. While I don't typically look for those things in novels that I read as an adult, for a children's book, it's a really nice touch that I appreciate. Overall I give this book 4.13 out of 5 stars.

What a fun little ghost story about friends and a little ghost who loves spicy food.

I particularly loved this sorry because my 7 year old LOVES spicy food. If you have a child like mine, read this! Even if you don’t, this was so fun. I can totally see this being read in a classroom.

I love the highlight on kindness and friendship. My kids were engrossed the entire time.

Blandon loves to eat hot peppers. He puts them in every meal, even his ice cream wasn't spared. The sad thing was he caused the people to run away after eating. It was a fun read with Blandon and his pals.

The Spicy ghost is a cute little book. I found the illustrations a little odd but my 3 and 6 year old enjoyed them. I couldn't get a hang of the rhyming scheme, it felt awkward reading it aloud. My children enjoyed it and have asked to read it again so that's a win in my books.

Thank you to NetGalley and Publishers for this ecopy of The Spicy Ghost.

The Spicy Ghost was an enjoyable read. The illustrations were really lovely and the colours really popped off the page.
I thought the story of Blandon the ghost liking spicy foods was interesting. I loved that Blandon was anything but bland.
The words with their rhyming made this easy to read out loud.
My 4 year old really loved getting involved, whilst we were reading together and this book was no exception-He loved it. It's good to be different.

I love spicy food so of course I enjoyed this little rhyming picture book. I love the illustrations and the storyline of this book. The abundance of color makes it much more enjoyable. I have many nieces and nephews who enjoy very spicy food so I'd be recommending this book to their parents!

The Spicy Ghost tells the story of an adorable little ghost who lovessss to eat spicy food, even though sometimes his friends find it a little bit weird. This love for spicy faces the little ghost and his friends with a lot of interesting adventures. He manages to scare off a tourist, join a festival and create many new friendships.
This picture book is great for teaching children about kindness and friendship. It shows how supporting friends is an important aspect of life, recognizing the impact it has on us and our friends.
The illustrations are great, and the text is rhymed and easy to read. However, the narration and the plot seemed just slightly forced. I personally think the book includes too many events and not many solutions to problems, as we will expect with children’s books. This results in a slight difficulty to follow the plot and understand the idea of the story. Apart from this, everything in the book is great.
I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to children aged 3+ who love funny and adventurous stories.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC! This book had be intrigued just by the title! A fun spin on Halloween (with the ghost), and what happens when he eats spicy food. The name of the ghost was clever as well. There was lots of rhyming as well throughout the book. The illustrations of the characters look computer animated which is different as well- it made them stand out on the page.

"The Spicy Ghost is a hilarious name but it was confusing" Aryanna, age 4.
The illustrations were lovely, but I agree with my daughter.. the story was very jumpy and weird. It seems like the rhymes were more important than what was actually going on. Blandon the ghost was absolutely adorable and his love of spicy food (being the opposite of bland!) making him different was an interesting idea, but I think poorly executed

Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for this ARC

Cute! This was a fun story for kids and Halloween themed! I also loved the art throughout
I think this is a great story for early readers.

I had really high hopes for this book with its colorful pages and silly title but sadly the rhymes seemed forced like the focus was more on ensuring the rhyme than on if the story made sense in any way. Things that didn't really add anything to the story and were things kids wouldn't understand were thrown in for some reason like Ms. Monster making artisan popsicles when she could just have made popsicles without it having to be artisan which will then have to be explained to the child reading the book or having it read to them.
