A sweet, funny title in the tradition of _The Monster at the End of This Book_. The reader will not be surprised to find that even though a unicorn is aupposedly NOT wanted, a unicorn appears anyway.
What an adorable kids book! This is perfect for all children and lovers of unicorns, dogs, and cowboys! I know my 2 boys both love all 3 of those. I can see this being a big hit at school read alouds too.
This is so cute! And one that my boys would even enjoy (if there’s a unicorn they always so no, haha!) It reminded me a little of elephant and piggie with the storytelling. I’d definitely suggest it to anyone looking for a fun read!
My rating: 5 stars
This was a very well written children's book! I read it with my 5 year old and she declared it, "The best book ever!" because she loves unicorns and it made her laugh. The illustrations were colorful and engaging. The story was funny and kept us turning pages. I'll be interested to see more from this author. Will definitely be looking for this one when it makes it to the library!
I know many little girls who will love checking this book out! It's something I can see siblings reading together. A fun read!

Such a funny picture book that DOES NOT include a unicorn and a pug. The story is lovely and entertaining. It follows a conversation between the narrator and two characters: a unicorn and a pug. They are both not allowed in the story! But will they take part in the end? And would we have another unicorn story?
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book sends a message about the consequences of one’s action when one offends or is rude to somebody else. I recommend it to all children aged 3+.
My kids were drawn to this book for the unicorn and pug characters which are always winners. The book tries to pull off the clever joke of complaining about all the unicorn books while writing a unicorn book. The illustrations are delightful, but there is not enough of a story. While my kids liked looking through the pictures, it wasn’t a book they wanted to come back to.
Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books, Happy Yak and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy.
Unicorn NOT Wanted is such a fun and silly book! The unseen author and the characters in the book argue on page about what the story will be and if unicorn and pig can be in the story. We really enjoyed this one!
Unicorn NOT Wanted was a very fun story, about a unicorn and a pug interrupting the author's intended story. I liked the cartoonish word style, everything felt high energy. Great drawings and use of color.
This was such a fun book which kept my daughter entertained! Great colourful illustrations for the story as well, highly recommend.
This was a fun colourful book could of been a bit more to the story tho. My daughter enjoyed and loved seeing the unicorn in different disguises.
Thank you, Quarto Publishing Group, Fred Blunt, and Netgalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. My daughters liked the pictures and thought the idea was funny. Not much of a story but it was fun.
Who can help picking up a unicorn book? Unicorn NOT Wanted was exactly what I was looking for in a book. Unicorn is amazing, and wants to show how amazing she is by being in the book. The non-unicorn book ended up staring the unicorn and her cute sidekick, the adorable pug!
My 7-year-old has read this with me three times, and she said that it is such a cute and HILARIOUS book. We cannot wait to purchase it when it is published!
This was such a fun read for my daughter. Different than your typical unicorn book! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun read
This is an absolutely hilarious book about being unique and confident. It has a very positive message. The drawings are colourful and the writing is really funny too.
Would love to use it in my courses one day.
This was a cute book with funny and silly illustrations and I loved the formatting of the font etc.
The story was a bit all of liver the place but not in a bad way. My niece would love this book.
There are way too many stories about unicorns! The author wants to write a western with cowboys, sheriffs, and maybe a cactus or two. But no unicorns. Or pugs. Unfortunately, that doesn’t go quite to plan.
This is a super cute book! The story is clever and the illustrations are vibrant and engaging. My 5-year-old loved it.
Thanks to @netgalley and @flcbooks for an advanced copy of this book! It will be released on 5/2/23.
This story is so silly! It's a very meta story about a unicorn who is absolutely insistent on being in the book, despite the author's efforts to tell a story without unicorns. The illustrations are adorable and the book gave me a good laugh.
I read this last night to my 7 year old. She said it was "good" which is praise for a little neurodivergent child like herself.
I thought it was absolutely adorable.
We both loved the illustrations.
Unicorn NOT Wanted is such a fantastic children’s book! My son and I were both laughing at all the antics of the pug and unicorn. They are such a fun pair. The writing is very engaging and the illustrations are bright and fun. This book is a must have for a child’s home library!
