This is a nonstop rollercoaster from start to end. Not sure why it took me so long to get around to reading but glad I finally got around to it.
I was completely caught up with anticipation at some points and although some bits were unbelievable it did not spoil my enjoyment. Overall it is an excellent suspense/ thriller.
Thank you to #NetGalley and #RavenStreetPublishing for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Really enjoyed this - will definitely be recommending and looking forward to the next one by this author!
This was an excellent stand-alone thriller, which is a cracking read. Full of suspense and intrigue, this book will absorb you and that makes for an engrossing story.
At times, some of the action appears a little far-fetched, but that does not diminish from a proverbial roller-coaster of a read, with some huge surprises throughout.
This is a brilliantly crafted read, and I would highly recommend it.
When Maggie's husband Will commits suicide, she searches to find answers that make her question the life they had together. Who was Will? What secrets did he keep from her, and will those secrets continue to haunt her from his grave?
Maggie's search for answers leads her to a favorite holiday spot where she makes some unlikely allies in a bid to stay alive.
I had mixed emotions about this stand alone from one of my favorite authors. I did feel he did a good job of creating a back story for Will that explained his actions, but everyone else just seemed to be "missing" any type of character development. The "big bad" was not bad enough, and the people who were collateral damage deserved more thought.
I had a hard time caring about Maggie, Will or the whole reason for his actions, and felt that it just needed "more," although more of what I had a hard time defining
I do plan to read it a second time to decide if maybe some things make more sense, but it was hard not to compare this effort to the other series I read by the author that appear to develop the characters more. As a stand alone, it was interesting enough, but only as a quick mindless read.

Maggie is working her shift at the hospital when suddenly her husband is brought in with a gun shot wound, it now could that be, he was spending the evening at home. When Will dies from his injuries m the police inform her that it was a suicide. Maggie is beyond her self with grief. After the funeral she decides to go to their summer home to clean it out and discovers a letter to her from Will to be read in the event of his death and inside are clues to secrets he had been hiding. She also becomes aware of someone sneaking into the house. Maggie is trying to figure out what caused Will to die and who is now after her. I loved this book! Maggie is a great character and the story is fast paced and suspenseful.
Maggie's told her husband killed himself but she doesn't believe that and sets out to prove the police wrong. Is Maggie now in danger?
Gripping book, I would absolutely recommend.
Thank you netgally for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
In a previous review of this authors work I said I would gladly read more of his work. I am really glad that I followed my own advice as this is an excellent thriller. Set between London and Croatia the story follows a wife’s adventures in trying to understand her husbands violent death that has been classed as suicide. Secrets from his life are uncovered and attempts are made to silence her. The book is well written and kept me reading late into the night.
You will be taken on a ride with this thriller of a read. It will keep your attention and at times make you anxious for what could happen next. This author is one I will definitely be reading again and recommending to others.
Maggie and Will are happily married. Maggie is a doctor working in ER. Will used to be a forensic pathologist but left medicine abruptly for a different career path. Maggie is at work when her husband is brough in with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead. The police call it suicide but as events unfold Maggie has ample reason to think otherwise. A suspenseful story with elements of crime, murder and political intrigue. I loved the original storyline and the way the plot unfolds. I must say that at some points the story felt a bit contrived but overall an easy thrilling ride.
Thank you Netgalley and Raven Street Publishing for the ARC.
Kind of an odd book but a very good story! Maggie was a great main character and was well written. I enjoyed the part set in Croatia and how Will prepared for the possibility of his death and how it all unfolded. My only regret is that we never found out the conversation between Will’s mom and the person who visited her after Maggie got back home. I’d bet that was an interesting conversation!
Fantastic stand alone from Bryndza...fast paced and excellently written....unputdownable!!! Many thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!!
Loved this. Bryndza always brings his characters to life and makes the whole thing believable. My only criticism is how long we have to wait for the next book.
Exciting stand alone thriller from an author who really knows his stuff. The seemingly clear case of suicide of her husband sees trauma doctor Maggie suddenly embroiled in a dark conspiracy. The action moves from London to Croatia with another death then across Europe to France and back to England. The pace never lets up with a clever ending to die for! Good fun!
In “Fear The Silence” by Robert Bryndza we are thrown into the life of Maggie, whose husband is shot dead in their London home. When the police tell her that it was a suicide she knows she knows they are wrong and goes on a mission to prove that he was murdered. Only there is someone out there that does not want the truth to come out and goes to extreme lengths to make sure it doesn’t.
Love the description of the plot: Three can keep a secret... If two of them are dead.
I received an ARC of this book, but this is my honest review.

This book really held my attention and kept me captivated the whole time! The characters were well developed and the descriptions made me feel like I was right there (especially in Croatia)! The only thing I felt like the story was missing was a little bit more or the main characters pasts, especially 6-7 years prior. I would totally recommend to anyone who likes thrillers and mysteries!
Loved everything about this book, I’m a big fan of this series. Definitely didn’t disappoint, it was fast paced, full of emotion and kept me guessing. I sat up all night reading because I couldn’t put it down. I do hope there is another book coming as it’s one of my favourites. I would definitely gift this book to friends and family. A bloody good read and highly deserves five stars.
Would highly recommend this book, it is a must read , loved it from start to finish. Have read other books by this author and they just get better and better , so many twists and turns and brilliant characters you just can’t put the books down , right to the end you are surprised, just loved this book
It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Robert Bryndza and so any new book by him is a 'must read' for me, and this, his first stand alone thriller did not disappoint The story begins with Maggie, an trauma surgeon on duty when a gunshot victim is brought into A&E where, to her horror, she realises it is her husband Will. The police believe that he has attempted to take his own life (Sadly Will does not survive).
From this shocking start the story takes the reader to the island of Tisina in Croatia. Maggie and Will own a holiday home there and it is to this home that Maggie retreats after Wills funeral. She hope to be able to recover from the shock of his death but instead finds a letter from Will which contains clues as to what may have led to his death.
The underlying atmosphere of this tale is one of mystery and unease and as the story unfolds it becomes clear that Maggie's gut instinct that Will was murdered seem to be not so far fetched and as the list of likely suspects grows longer the tension in the story racks up several notches leaving the reader unsure who can be trusted, as Maggie tries to follow the snippets of clues left by Will in his letter.
Once again Roberts writing does not disappoint and had me hooked from the start and throughout as the tension and questions never let up in this tale until the final pages.
Another great read from Robert.
*3 Stars*

What in the actual hell did I just read? I normally really love Bryndza books, I'm a big fan of the Erika Foster series - this this one was all over the shop in comparison. Things start out well, and then go weird when Maggie gets to Croatia. This was like an over the top Hollywood movie - I had no idea why things were so outrageous, but I was invested enough to continue reading and find out the truth behind everything going on.
The book definitely kept me hooked, but its certainly not the best work by the author (in my opinion anyways). I look forward to going back to the Erika Foster series and it's more normal storylines in the future lol.
A brilliant thriller I could not put down.
Fast paced, suspense filled, a read full of tension and twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat, you will literally be holding your breathe towards the end.
