I absolutely love Mr Bryndza's Kate Marshall series but this is his first standalone crime thriller and what an absolute triumph it is.

From the very first lines, I was absolutely hooked right to the very end. The author certainly knows how to grab you by the short and curlies and not let go!

With excellent characters, a great setting which added to the atmosphere, a riveting plot that pulled me in and all written at a perfect pace, this book had me on the edge of my seat ... I loved it.

I have no hesitation recommending this to lovers of psychological thrillers. In fact, I have no hesitation in recommending Robert Bryndza's work as everything I have read by him has been to notch and he is one of my go-to author's where I don't even need to read the blurb to pick it up and know I will enjoy the ride.

Many thanks to the author, Raven Street Publishing and NetGalley for enabling me to read and share my thoughts of Fear The Silence.

Fear The Silence is a book that hooked me in from the start and didn’t let up at any point.
Maggie’s husband Will has been shot dead, she thinks it’s a burglary gone wrong in their London home but the police say it was suicide but this doesn’t sound right to Maggie. She goes to their holiday home on a small Croatian island to shut it up for the winter but when she gets their she receives a letter from a solicitor she hadn’t heard of. The letter is from Will and contains some disturbing information and clues. Maggie tries to work out what it all means whilst trying to keep herself alive as she doesn’t know who to trust now.
This was a book I flew through, it was well written with a good plot line. Maggie as really likeable and felt myself willing her to carry on and not give in. The book flowed well with some twists I didn’t see coming along the way. My first book by this author but I doubt it’ll be my last.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Raven Street Publishing for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to #Netgalley and #RavenStreetPublishing for the copy of #FearTheSilence by #RobertBryndza

I enjoyed this book but to my mind it was a little bit too farfetched. The story of Maggie's life after her husband commits suicide takes us from London to a small island off Croatia with a whole raft of shady (and some not so shady) characters to choose from.
Did Will commit suicide?
I will read Roberts next book as I have so enjoyed his previous ones especially the Erika Foster series

3.5⭐️ This was a mystery suspense that had things moving pretty fast and nothing was making sense. Did her husband really commit suicide? What the heck was going on??
And when she got to Croatia things really went off the rails. In all honesty I love this authors writing style but this one wasn’t as believable to me. The timing and injuries were too much. Will I read another book by this author? Absolutely!
Thanks Raven Street Publishing via NetGalley.

An exciting read. After Magpie’s husband commits suicide, she is left feeling there is something more to it. She goes to their holiday home in Croatia to escape and close up the house but finds things start to go wrong. Things come to light about her husband’s death leading her to do some investigation. Lots of twists and turns.

Wow, this author blew me away with this amazing book!
It's a thrilling ride full of unexpected twists and turns that keep you hooked until the end. The writing is superb and the suspense is intense. The setting of Croatia is vividly portrayed and adds to the atmosphere of the story. The characters are realistic and relatable, and you can easily picture them in your mind.
This book is a must-read for sure.
I got this book for free and this is my honest review.

Robert Bryndza is, as always, an excellent writer. He easily draws you into the story and makes you care about his characters. You’re also not left hanging at the end of the book, his endings are realistic and just satisfying even when they’re not exactly what you think you want. Fear the Silence is just as bingable (bingeable?) as all his others, and delivers on the thriller front. He builds an absolutely delicious suspense several times throughout the book, and really works as a stand-alone. The backstory works and tapers in as Maggie learns more about what Will had really been doing the last few years.

I do wish we could have answered a couple more questions about Will because I want to know everything. Was it greed?? I, also, think the ending could have been a smidge less idealistic, but can—kind of—see how it was necessary to balance out the darker plot throughout. It was definitely an intense read with an ending we can, at the very least, support. So, we can really end the book with that gif of Captain Holt yelling “Vindication” because we got the closure we deserved.

What I absolutely loved were the twisty villainy and the morally grey aspects to most characters. Bryndza really played with the dichotomy of good and evil, what the Hippocratic Oath means and how far it can or should be taken, and how well we know the people we love. This is a great one to read for lovers of suspense thrillers, spy novels, and travel.

I didn't particularly enjoy this one. I DNF. I can't really put my finger on any specific things. I just couldn't get into the story. I will not be publishing a review anywhere.

This book kept me hooked! I binged it in a day and couldn't guess what would happen next. Twists in every chapter.

I'm a huge fan of this author and this first stand alone blew me away! Action packed and suspense through the roof. I was hooked from the beginning. The settings were like their own characters. This one kept me guessing and turning pages late into the night. Stellar read!

This is the first book I have read by this author, and though it wasn't my favorite read, I believe I would read more by this author.
In comes Maggie, who works in the hospital, and then her life changes within in minutes when her husband Will is brought in with a gunshot wound to the head. I can't imagine being in her position and this happening. She is convinced it is not a suicide like she is being told. So she is on an adventure to discover why he would have thought about shooting himself. As she is at their vacation home, it becomes more of a fight for survival at this point. Someone wants her to stop looking for answers, and she might find herself in the same position as her husband if she doesn't stop.
I found it interesting that it seemed someone was always there to help save Maggie like she didn't even attempt to fully save herself until toward the end when no one was around.
I didn't understand why she saw her dead mother in the bathroom. Like I felt it was trying to go supernatural there in a way. Plenty of action and mystery on who is behind it all. I guess it, once certain things started to become uncovered in the story.
If you are looking for a read that you can pass time on, then this is one for you.

4.5 stars

Fear the Silence, by Robert Bryndza, is an absolutely gripping new thriller from one of my favorite authors. In a departure from his previous police procedurals, this stand-alone novel is a fast-moving, action-packed murder mystery.
It begins with Maggie, a 40-something A & E doc in London, experiencing the devastating sudden death of her loving husband, Will—is it suicide or is it murder?? Her grief feels “heavy, like a dark mass pushing down on me.” Maggie takes off for their vacation home on a small Croatian island, and, while there, experiences enough strange occurrences, and odd local residents, to fear and question everything she thinks she knows about her husband and her own safety.
The action ramps up, Maggie is in perilous situations more than once, and the novel hurtles forward, propelled by one hair-raising moment to the next. Maggie is a likeable, brave, plucky heroine who uses her wits to escape death. The rest of the characters are well-written and, as is the island, enigmatic and brooding. There are some good plot twists and a surprising couple of heroes emerge.
The bonus content here is the beautiful setting on a Croatian island in the Adriatic, expertly described by the author and everything I remember from my own visit there.
This edge-of-your-seat thriller will reel you in and keep you reading without pause!
Highly recommend!!

Thank you to Raven Street Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC. This is my honest review.

Three can keep a secret... If two of them are dead.

Will and Maggie have been happily married for twenty four years so she is shocked when he is shot dead in their London home and the police declare it was suicide. She refuses to believe he would do something like that and after the funeral she decides to spend some time at their holiday home on the Croatian island of Tisina to gather her thoughts. While she is there she receives a letter from Will, written a few years before he died, and it turns Maggie's world upside down. The events that follow show that Will's death was not straightforward and now someone is determined to keep Maggie quiet too.

Fear the Silence is the first standalone psychological thriller by Bryndza who has previously created the fabulous series of both Erika Foster and Kate Marshall in this genre so I was excited to see how this one would fare compared to those. This latest story is a well crafted, action packed, tense thriller with lots of twists along the way and I couldn't put it down. With the author's descriptive island setting in picturesque Croatia coupled with a raging storm, unsavoury characters and secrets galore, I knew it was going to be an exciting ride and I wasn't disappointed, devouring it in less than twenty four hours. I can't wait to see what Bryndza brings us next, an easy five stars from me!

I'd like to thank Raven Publishing and Netgalley for the auto approval, I will post my review on Amazon and Goodreads.

Excellent!!! As ever Robert Bryndza has hit the mark with this book. This is his first standalone thriller and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The book centres on Maggie, an A+E Doctor, who's on shift when a man is brought in having shot himself. When she sees its her husband it sparks an action packed turn of events which are thrilling, dangerous and at times creepy. There's plenty of twists that keep you guessing, and so much drama that you really will not want to put this down. I couldn't!

Bryndza's work is always cleverly descriptive which allows you to immerse fully into the story. The storm that encircles the island is indicative of the trauma Maggie is going through. I think this storm fit the story so well and created a brilliantly atmospheric backdrop.

A stand alone thriller which drew me in from the start. Maggie is a successful doctor who lives for her work but has a very happy marriage. So when her husband is brought into the hospital dying from a gunshot wound she is devastated. Does she really know her husband at all?! And so as Maggie tries to come to terms with the suicide of her husband her life spirals out of control, affecting her and her closest friends.
Fast paced - would definitely make a good film/tv series.
Many thanks to Netgalley/Robert Bryndza/Raven Street Publishing for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced digital copy of this book.

Maggie is in the midst of a hectic night at the ER, having just performed surgery on a stabbing victim and probably saving his life. Then an emergency gunshot victim is brought in, barely clinging to life, and Maggie recognizes the victim is her husband Will. His death is ruled a suicide, as he was shot in his office while seeminly alone in their house.

But Will had so much to live for! He had transitioned from his career as a pathologist to one as a real estate developer and had several new jobs lined up. So what could have lead him to take his own life? Trying to get answers, Maggie travels to their vacation home in Croatia and is suddenly thrown into danger from the "smart house" which keeps trying to kill her!! When her friend is run down by a hit-and-run driver back in London, and another friend is killed in mysterious circumstances, Maggie realizes she is in real danger and must find out who and what is behind all of this.

Ranging from London to Croatia, then back to London, the pieces finally all fall into place, but not before Maggie has to use resources she did not even realize she had.

In the book Fear The Silence, author Robert Bryndza follows Doctor Maggie Kendall as she goes to work as a trauma surgeon leaving her husband Will at home. She is given the shocking news that Will committed suicide. As Maggie tries to make sense of everything she begins to wonder if Will really committed suicide. And what dark secret is behind Will’s change in careers from a forensic pathologist to an architect? And will everyone who helps her discover the truth die? Will she live through it all?
This is a great fast paced mystery that draws you in from the first page to the end. I would recommend this book. The audio-book narration was very good. I received a copy of this audio-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I received a free copy of this book from Raven Street Publishing through Netgalley.com I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book is currently free on Kindle unlimited.

Maggie thinks her marriage is rock solid until her husband is found dead and the police tell her it was self inflicted. Devastated Maggie goes to stay at their isolated house on a Croatian Island. You can only get there by boat and only the caretaker of the island is there since it is off season. Strange things start happening putting her life in jeopardy. She also starts receiving cryptic letters from her dead husband. Trying to unravel what her husband was attempting to tell her and still not believing her committed suicide Maggie finds herself neck deep in a mystery and people are dying all around her.

This was a spooky thrill ride as things speed up once she is on the Island. The descriptions of her house in Croatia not only make me want to go there but I want her house, well maybe minus some of the smart home options.

Well written and fun this book is a great beach read.

Stunning

Oh, my goodness! What an incredibly fast-paced and thrilling opening! "Fear The Silence" by Robert Bryndza is a masterfully crafted book that hooks you right from the first page. The level of research and attention to detail is outstanding, making me feel completely immersed in the story and confident in the author's hands. From the moment I picked it up, I was electrified, unable to put it down until the very end.

The story revolves around Maggie Kendall, a leading trauma surgeon, and her husband Will, who has transitioned from a forensic pathologist to a property developer. They seem to be a professional couple living an idyllic life in their terraced house in Bermondsey. However, the tranquility is shattered when Maggie arrives at work and is confronted with a young man suffering from a gunshot wound and stabbing. As if that isn't distressing enough, another patient is brought in with a gunshot wound to the head—none other than her own husband. Devastated by the police's claim that it was suicide, Maggie refuses to believe it for a second.

As Maggie delves deeper into the mystery, things become increasingly chilling when she arrives at Tisina. She finds herself faced with life-threatening accidents and uncanny coincidences, making it clear that she is being followed or manipulated by an unknown force. The pace remains relentless, matched by the menacing atmosphere that pervades the house and the surrounding island. According to Will's letter, a key holds the answers to her future. However, when a friend arrives on a blue catamaran, a glimmer of hope emerges. Could this person be her savior? As far as I was concerned, she needed to escape from that island as quickly as possible.

With nowhere to turn and desperate for answers, Maggie finds herself caught in the midst of the most devastating storm of her life. The book expertly captures the creeping suspense of a locked-room mystery, where the house itself becomes a character amidst the swirling mists and storms. Many characters initially appear menacing but may later reveal unexpected benevolence, keeping readers on their toes. The ending is incredibly satisfying, flawlessly tying up all the loose ends. Even after finishing the book, I found myself continually contemplating the characters and the intricacies of the plot.

The breakneck speed of the narrative leaves no time to catch your breath, resulting in a thrilling and immersive reading experience. I was completely absorbed, devouring the book in a single afternoon.

I extend my heartfelt thanks to Raven Street Publishing, Robert Bryndza, and Netgalley for granting me the privilege of reading this ARC. Now, I eagerly await "Lethal Vengeance," where I can once again make friends with Erika Foster. In anticipation, I may even reread book 7 to fully immerse myself in the world of these captivating characters.

After spending a pleasant and relaxing day with her husband Will, trauma surgeon Maggie Kendall, headed off for her late shift in the ER. Will and Maggie had been happily married for 24 years, and after quitting his job as a forensic pathologist to do something he enjoyed more, Will was the happiest he’d ever been. When a gunshot victim is brought into the ER, Maggie is shocked to realise it’s Will and devastated when he dies from his wound. She’s even more shocked when the police tell her he clearly committed suicide, something she just can’t accept. But then, she didn’t even know that he had a gun hidden in a secret compartment in the house, so what else doesn’t she know about the man she thought she knew so well?

A few weeks after the funeral, Maggie travels alone to the holiday home that Will built for them on a small Croatian Island. As it’s winter, the island is deserted except for the caretaker, but she only plans to stay for a week to enjoy some time alone away from Will’s domineering mother and to pack a few of Will’s belongings to bring back home. While there she receives a letter written to her by Will six years before his death and mailed to her by his lawyer. In it he leaves her a cryptic clue to follow that will lead her to discover some dark secrets from his past. And some powerful forces, with access to the island, intends to keep those secrets deeply buried, no matter what the cost.

This standalone psychological thriller from Robert Bryndza is dark and twisty, packed with action and suspense, as the danger ramps up and Maggie fears for her life. She is forced to follow Will’s clues to find out why he died and why she now being targeted. Although, I did find her ability to follow these obscure clues sometimes implausible, they do add to an interesting plot. With the deserted rugged Croatian island in winter the perfect, chilling setting for the fear and panic that sets in, it all makes for a nail biting and gripping read as the tension builds with moments of sheer terror and non-stop action. Recommended to all those who enjoy a fast paced, well plotted psychological thriller that keeps you hooked until the final page.
