I volunteer at my local Humane Society as a rabbit wrangler and this book made me smile. Since it's after Easter we have a full house and depend on adoptions to get these guys new homes. The story is great also the message of giving te rabbits time to adjust. I just wish you added fresh veggies as food along with hay.
Added bonus were the poop pellets around the living room along with a litter box. We potty train our rabbits but accidents happen, especially if you did something to displease them
Honey and Sugar Get Adopted is an adorable story about two rabbits being adopted. I liked that this story was about rabbits, rather than the typical cat and dog adoption stories. I think this is something important to understand because rabbits are often gifted as Easter "presents" without proper preparation. I loved that the family had to properly prepare and prove that they were ready to bring two rabbits safely into their home.
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for my honest review!
A charming book that explains animal rescue and adoption, and why rescues are so important for the community. A great way to introduce young readers to the exciting experience of pet adoption!
I liked this one, it did a nice job of showing how the pet adoption process works but instead of a dog or a cat they adopted bunnies.
It’s a little bit deep / dreary for really young children but I think 1st-2nd graders would enjoy it.
It was sad how all of the bunnies didn’t have homes “through no fault of their own.” For some reason I didn’t really like that line for this book. It was too heavy for its audience in my opinion. I think that could’ve been worded differently.
I liked the overall message and illustrations though so I didn’t subtract any points for the above line because it was a total preference thing for me.
I loved this book because I felt that this was an important lesson for children to learn. The way she really wanted that bunny, along with understanding that not everyone wasn't going to get a home, was heartwarming.
