Description
Polly's house has felt empty for months but today is the day that all changes. Her mum is taking her to a rescue centre to adopt two rabbits for them to take home. Polly isn't sure what 'adopt' means until she sees how many rabbits there are that have been lost or given away. They need our help!
As Polly and her mum are taken through the back, they learn about the differences between rabbits and other animals, how to care for them and how they can make sure Honey and Sugar will be happy with Polly. These two small rabbits have been in the rescue centre for two years - it's time they found their way home.
Honey & Sugar Get Adopted is a lovely children's story that emphasises our need to rescue animals instead of buying them from a pet store. Thousands of animals a day are currently being brought into rescue centres needing a home. Even more than that are currently in a home where their needs are not being met as their families don’t understand their animal’s natural behaviour. Rabbits are currently the third most loved companion animal (following cats and dogs), but are also the most misunderstood, mistreated and abandoned - something a lot of us struggle to explain to our children. Follow Polly's story and learn as she learns the true meaning of family and how to respect our animal's differences!

A sweet and educational book about adopting animals. It’s so important to adopt animals from rescues and this book tells this lesson with a beautiful story and drawings.
Thank you, Netgalley and Matador, for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved this book because I felt that this was an important lesson for children to learn. The way she really wanted that bunny, along with understanding that not everyone wasn't going to get a home, was heartwarming.
A charming book that explains animal rescue and adoption, and why rescues are so important for the community. A great way to introduce young readers to the exciting experience of pet adoption!
I liked this one, it did a nice job of showing how the pet adoption process works but instead of a dog or a cat they adopted bunnies.
It’s a little bit deep / dreary for really young children but I think 1st-2nd graders would enjoy it.
It was sad how all of the bunnies didn’t have homes “through no fault of their own.” For some reason I didn’t really like that line for this book. It was too heavy for its audience in my opinion. I think that could’ve been worded differently.
I liked the overall message and illustrations though so I didn’t subtract any points for the above line because it was a total preference thing for me.
Honey and Sugar Get Adopted is an adorable story about two rabbits being adopted. I liked that this story was about rabbits, rather than the typical cat and dog adoption stories. I think this is something important to understand because rabbits are often gifted as Easter "presents" without proper preparation. I loved that the family had to properly prepare and prove that they were ready to bring two rabbits safely into their home.
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for my honest review!

I volunteer at my local Humane Society as a rabbit wrangler and this book made me smile. Since it's after Easter we have a full house and depend on adoptions to get these guys new homes. The story is great also the message of giving te rabbits time to adjust. I just wish you added fresh veggies as food along with hay.
Added bonus were the poop pellets around the living room along with a litter box. We potty train our rabbits but accidents happen, especially if you did something to displease them
