Well, this was positively murderous wasn't it!

The novel is written in dual POV. We have Atia, our villainous protagonist, and Silas, the Herald who is sent to punish Atia for all her misdeeds. Instead, the two end up forming an alliance . . .

What a twisty, bloody, gripping story this was! I was hooked. I loved the 'quests' that they went on, and I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Atia and Silas develop, as they both learned more about each other and in turn, learned more about their own selves . . .

Tristan and Cillian were also fabulous additions to our cast of characters! (Although I've got no idea how Tristan, the human, survived. He's made out of stronger stuff than I am). I loved their banter and the humour that they added to the story.

I didn't guess all of the twists of the story, but I did guess some and I was delighted.

My favourite thing about this book was seeing the journey Atia went on. Her character development was excellent. I loved seeing her struggle (sorry Atia) with humanity, and how she grew from that. I think it was excellent.

Overall, really enjoyed this, it did just take me a couple of chapters to get in to it.

I found this book really enjoyable, fast paced and exciting! I loved the world it was set in, I found it so interesting to see the different kingdoms (and would love to read about more!) and the past events slowly being understood as the characters learnt more about themselves and their pasts. I adored the characters and their relationships with each other (a must read for and found family fans). I gasped at the plot twists near the end, I had never expected any of it! I thought it was really well written but I did find the end was very prolonged. Overall this was a really good fantasy book that I really enjoyed and would definitely recommend!

Alexandra Christo is an author who I think has made incredible progress using feedback from her audience - it absolutely shows. She now handles humour and intrigue expertly, where before I think it was all a little bit too much at once. Unfortunately, despite ridiculously compelling writing - really, she knows how to get you turning the page long into the night, when you do come up for air it still feels like a very simple, hole-ridden story.

Atia is the last of her kind, and in simple terms to save her skin she needs to kill three other creatures. She teams up with Silas, who ferries the dead, and her human friend who is obsessed with creatures, to do this. It’s also a bit of a romance.

Atia is great - she’s strong willed, sarcastic and funny. I loved her character. The narrative moves very quickly, which I also love, but the world building and explanations are very sparse. There are several “rules” for some of the creatures which don’t appear to apply all the time and the plot is just littered with holes and implausibility (even as a fantastical story, yes).

Wonderful characters, incredibly compelling writing style and equally fabulous humour, but the world building was very poor. Maybe it’s me though - maybe it’s just time to exit the world of YA and stick to adult!

I thoroughly enjoyed Silas and Atia’s tale as they navigate the dangers of their worlds. A proper hero’s journey filled with a quest, trials, dangers, and unlikely sidekicks. Christo cleverly weaves Greek mythology, twisting it to create something new. Certainly one I will be recommending!

I’m not rating this one because honestly it didn’t make me feel enough to even give a rating. This should have been right up my street but it just fell flat for me—I wasn’t vibing with the story or characters and just didn’t have much interest in continuing to read it, sadly.

Alexandra Christo's "The Night Hunt" is a dark-fantasy story that is both exciting and gripping. It takes readers into a world of gods, monsters, and breathtaking drama. Atia is an immortal who feeds off of fear and dreams. She is the last of her kind and has to hide from angry gods. When the gods send monsters after Atia for breaking a holy law, Silas, a Herald who can't remember his past, turns out to be an unusual ally. Atia teams up with Silas on a dangerous mission to fight the gods and break Silas's curse so she can get revenge for her family. Together, they have to deal with three dangerous enemies: a vampire, a banshee, and an angry god who has made their lives hard.

Christo's writing is vivid and full of details. He creates a world of magic and story that keeps the reader interested from the beginning to the end. Atia and Silas's chemistry is full of energy and passion, which makes their love story even more exciting. The fast-paced story and heart-pounding action of the book keep readers on the edge of their seats, and the study of fate and sacrifice gives the story more emotional depth.

"The Night Hunt" is a book that you have to read if you like Sarah J. Maas, Tricia Levenseller, or Alexandra Bracken. With its exciting action, enticing romance, and interesting cast of characters, this book is an amazing read that will leave you wanting more of Alexandra Christo's creative and charming writing.

When I saw that Alexandra Christo was releasing a new book, I just knew I had to read it. I absolutely loved To Kill a Kingdom, so I was excited to read more by this author... and this did not disappoint.

The Night Hunt is inspired by Greek mythology and features all sorts of monsters and gods living among humans in a brand new world created by the author. I have to say the start was a bit confusing for me and I found it hard at first to grasp the world-building but I was constantly hooked and captivated to learn more about all the different monsters, how the plot developed and where it was going overall. The plot is filled with twists and turns, it's dark and gruesome at times, with some incredibly badass scenes with our main characters and their friends. Our FMC is a monstrous heroine who feeds off of nightmares. She begrudgingly teams up with a herald of the gods to embark on a quest to break a curse placed on her by the gods he is forced to serve. Along the way their team grows with the addition of a bookworm and monster enthusiast human and an outcast half banshee.

While this book is marketed as a dark fantasy romance, I would say it is a lot more about found family, writing the wrongs of the past, defeating the overpowering evil of this world and... yes the romance in this is also amazing!

This was a really fun read and I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy romance, mythology, gods and monsters, found family and morally grey characters.

This was such an engaging and dark read and I devoured it in one weekend. That's what I like about Alexandra, her books are written so engaging and they always end with the plot all wrapped it. I think that's why her book sale so easy to read since she gets right to the point. She wrote a story about monsters, alliances and revolution which is set in a otherworldly place and makes you really question what really makes a monster.

The characters are very likable and easy to relate too. We have two totally different paths that diverge onto one epic adventure that really engrosses you. I think she does a great job writing a plot written book instead of filler since a lot of newer books are trilogies while hers are stand alone!

The Night Hunt is a fun, fast-paced adventure brimming with gods, monsters and all things deadly.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun, quick read perfect for younger YA audiences. This is not high or epic fantasy in any means but it is a low-stakes quest style story with plot twists you won't see coming. The Night Hunt seems to be inspired by Greek mythology, what with the different gods and after-life, but I don't think it reflects a particular story so it is not a re-telling.

The characters were well-rounded, but I would have liked to have explored Tristan and Cillian's stories more. The book also had found-family themes, but I wasn't completely sold on that. The relationships were nice between the characters, but I just don't think they were deep enough for found family. The banter and sass were funny though and characters were likeable. I would also say the romance is not enemies-to-lovers but more like reluctant allies.

Overall, I enjoyed this book as a quick fantasy read, maybe to get out of a slump, but if you're looking for a book with more depth, this is not it.

This is the first book I've read by Alexandra Christo, and based on this one I'm very impressed.
I love fantasy books that include gods, and this was a unique take on that.
Very enjoyable YA fantasy. Will not hesitate to pick up more books from this author.

YA fantasy. Atia, the last Nefas. A monster, created by the bored high Gods. A mistake, and now cursed. But the Gods better watch out because she is on a quest to get her magic back, and she is not for forgiving them. Thank you to Bonnier Books UK and NetGalley for the ARC. The premise of Atia being a monster who feeds on fear, is so cool. It takes a little getting used to though, especially when we see how she does it!

Silas is a herald, carrying messages for the gods, ferrying the dead and at first, there's not much to like.

Atia and Silas team up; he'll help avenge her family and take on the Gods who now hunt her, if she helps him break his curse and restore his humanity.

....they just need to kill three powerful creatures: a vampire, a banshee, and one of the very gods who destroyed both their lives! Piece of cake! NOT!

It's a Rollercoaster of a ride, but I enjoyed every bit of it! And you will too!

Atia, the last of her immortal race, and Silas, a Herald messenger of the Gods, form an unlikely alliance with a half-banshee and a human scholar to remove their curses and rid the immortal world of the corrupt High Gods

The romance elements feel a little clunky and obvious at times, but otherwise this is an inventive, immersive fantasy with a strong gothic feel. Aside from the romance the two main characters play off each other very well and display some nice tension. But it is the two supporting side-kicks that really steal the show, a clear case of upstaging in places! Great read with an epic final battle. Good to have a one-volume fantasy, tho to be honest I would quite happily read a sequel!

This wasn’t for me. I really wanted to enjoy this book, the concept sounded interesting. But the writing wasn’t for me and I found it hard to stay interested - picked it up and put it down a lot. The enemies to lovers trope didn’t really land. I think maybe I’m just too old for this one - it felt very YA to me. Sorry just not to my tase

If you loved Six of Crows, you’ll love The Night Hunt by Alexandra Christo.

Atia, Silas, Tristan and Cillian are thrust together in a fight to save the worlds monsters, and themselves.

When Atia, the last immortal Nefas who feeds off the nightmares of mortals, is cursed by the High Gods. She is recruited by Silas, a Herald, who guides new souls to their rightful resting place, to hunt down and destroy those who cursed her, and wiped Silas of his mortal memories. Mortal friend, Tristan, and half Banshee, half human, Cillian join in on the adventure, going in search of the heavenly place, Oksenya. The Gods place of residence.

However, Silas has secrets and as Atia opens herself more to him and the idea of these people becoming her new found family, what will happen when she learns the truth? And will she be able to remove her curse and avenge her murdered family and species?

Being a huge fan of Christos’ previous novels, I jumped at the chance to read her new upcoming release and wow! I wasn’t disappointed! I fell in love with these characters and the storyline! I love how relatable they are, and the gentle comedy that is slipped in to the pages really adds to the ease of this read. I’m especially obsessed with Tristan and Cillians’ growing relationship.

After finishing the ending, I feel this book has been left at a point where it could be a standalone but there’s also enough there that the universe could be given a sequel, if Alexandra wishes it (hell yes please)!

Thank you Alex, for the chance to read The Night Hunt! I’d recommend this to anyone who loves a good heist/adventure/new found family/enemies to lovers.

*SLIGHT SPOILER INCOMING*

*SPOILER WARNING #2 DONT LOOK IF YOU HAVENT READ*

My only slight ‘irk’ with this book is that once Silas discovers he is Aion, that his POV chapter names didn’t change to ‘Aion’ however, looking back, I understand that Aion had to live and be ‘Silas’ to be the person he is in the present day of the novel so…I’m actually perfectly happy with keeping his POVs as Silas. (Basically ignore this haha).

AMAZING JOB ALEX!

A clever premise but it failed to deliver for me and I'd say it's rather childish to be described as YA. The banter was amusing but didn't really fit with some of the horror so I couldn't get involved in the story, however I'm willing to admit that I'm pretty sure that I'm not the target audience and young teens will probaby enjoy it hugely.

It’s no secret I am one of Alexandra Christo’s biggest fans, so when I say I adored The Night Hunt, you probably aren’t surprised.

But there’s just something about The Night Hunt that exceeded all my expectations, that worked its way into becoming one of my favourites by Christo and that, that is something that isn’t easy to do.

If youre looking for an engaging and dark read, that you won’t be able to put down… The Night Hunt is it. It’s a story about monsters, alliances and revolution, with otherworldly places and the question of what really makes a monster.

Our two main characters, Atia a monster who breaks the rules and is cursed to lose her immortally and a herald of the Gods, Silas who enforces their will, are perfectly matched. The interactions between each of these characters is not only witty, and sure to have you clinging to every word but draws out of each of them realisations about the world in which they live.

The magic, the setting AND THAT PLOT TWIST are all things I could talk about for hours. But, its the found family within this tale that really holds my heart and Atia’s realisations about family and friendship, that will stick with the reader far after the last page.

“Family isn’t only about blood, but something far more rare and sacred. A bond forged by choice”
