Dawn did such a great job in this book. The writing was good, quite funny and as someone who loves cats but does not have any, I feel like after reading this I need to adopt one because cats just make things better.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one! The perfect book to binge in a weekend or on holiday.
At first glance Mia has made it – she’s married, step-mom to a lovely boy, successful manager role at a jewelers and cat-mom to little Pigeon. But at a closer look not everything is as golden as it seems; her husband’s baby mom is way too involved in all their lives, her boss is an egotistical narc – and when things start going down, they do so thick and fast. A certain “my pet has died” support group will play an important role in her journey, even though her cat isn’t dead.
I really enjoyed the protagonist being in her 40s, and all the characters had such fun personalities to read about. I love Mia's depth and development throughout the book, and enjoyed reading about her journey to happiness.

Loved this book! Such a great story of how life can be so difficult but how we can not just survive but thrive. A real page turner I couldn’t put this down!

Loved cat lady so funny yet touching and sad too! This is sharp, beautifully written and incredibly powerful. I have been completely pulled in from very early on in this one. It has definitely been a book that is bound to be a success.

I can't decide whether I liked this book or not. It was very slow to start. And at first I just couldn't warm to the characters. Maybe it's because I'm not an animal person, i just couldn't relate to Mia. I stuck with it and I have to say she grew on me.
I am glad I kept going though as its a nice heartwarming story.
Thank you to netgalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book in return for a fair and honest review

I loved this book!
It's the first I've read by Dawn O'Porter and it was a delight.
Heartwarming, full of emotion and very funny.

Dawn O’Porter does it again. Another brilliant read which keeps you turning page after page even after you should be asleep! Real, raw, and so true to life!

I have genuinely never read anything from Dawn O'Porter that i haven't instantly become obsessed with.
This book makes you think about your own life, what's important and really affirms the message of "you do you".
There is simply nothing not to adore about this book, even if youre not a cat lover yourself. It was an absoloute pleasure to read.

I love Dawn O’Porter, I think she is hilarious. I’ve read most of her fiction work so was excited to receive a copy of her latest offering. This was a bit of a romp through the mundanity of life; the secrets we hide from our workmates, and finding connections in unexpected places. I laughed a fair bit at this book. I probably enjoyed her other works more but I do appreciate that O’Porter has such unique way of seeing her characters.

This book was outrageously funny and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I completely sympathised and instantly loved Mia.
I laughed out loud and cried quietly, the perfect book.
Highly recommended, 5 stars from me.

As per Dawn O’Porter is as whitty and funny as ever. This is a story of a single woman and her cat that takes you through all your emotions. Would defiantly recommend if your looking for a light read

Cat Lady by Dawn O’ Porter, a NetGalley review. Mia seemed to have the perfect life, but she’s not being the woman she really wants to be. This is a new author for me and one that I will be reading again. The more I read this the more I loved it and the more I loved the character of Mia, probably one of the most lovable characters I read about this year. To begin with this book isn’t what it seems, a book about a lady that likes cats and if you judge this book by it’s cover you will truly be mistaken it thinking it’s a light and fluffy read because it’s so so much more than that. It’s a little bit saucy in places, it’s raw, it’s honest, it’s not scared to face tough subjects face on, yet it’s also incredibly funny and a loveable read. At the beginning Mia comes across as a little bit strange especially her whole marriage situation but as you read on you realise this couldn’t be further from the truth, she’s actually a woman struggling, who’s trying to conform to what she thinks society things she should be. I also got the feeling that she also thought she somehow wasn’t worthy of peoples friendship or love and even though she’s married, Mia is obviously lonely. Mia it’s very clear has mental health issues and this very clearly goes back to her childhood. It’s very clear that in the beginning Mia’s safe space where she is truly herself is at home in her bedroom with her cat, every other part of her life it’s like she’s wearing a mask of who she thinks she should be. However when her life starts to spiral and when it could really effect her mental health, she finds strength, she finds friends and she finds family. Mia’s character has so much depth that she feels like its someone you could know and the sad truth is, is that it could quite possibly be. I started off feeling sorry and sad for Mia yet by the end I admired her for her strength. This book will give you the feels, you will laugh and in parts you will be close to tears, but this book has the biggest heart and I will be recommending it to everyone. Everyone page is proof of the authors talent and I can’t wait to read the other books from @hotpatooties some of which I already have on my shelf. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A funny books, I really enjoyed reading this on holiday. A little predictable but humerous in places. I’d like to see a sequel!

A quirky, different take on the world of being a Cat Lady, that despite it's extremely funny moments, is a story that I struggled to really engaged with. I do think this book has its audience though.

I began reading this book not really knowing what to expect, which is good because this story really was an experience unlike any other.
We follow our protagonist, Mia, who has a very strong bond with her gorgeous cat, Pigeon. Mia is "happily" married with a job she loves and a life she can't complain about, until all the perfection she has maintained begins to crumble around her, that is.
There were certain aspects of this novel which I thoroughly enjoyed - there are some intriguing characters that were entertaining to read about and some of the humour was hilarious. There were, unfortunately, also aspects which fell flat for me. Sometimes the humour was a little overboard and passed into unusual territory that could be considered a bit too far. As we observe Mia descend into insanity I found it rather uncomfortable and anxiety inducing to read as she spirals and causes mayhem around her.
The end of the book was a relief and while I don't regret reading it at all, I would probably not pick this one up again. Despite my views though, I know a lot of readers who absolutely loved this book, so I think perhaps this one just wasn't the one for me!
Big thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is very quirky and different. There are strong themes which could be offputting for some people. I enjoyed it though. I very much consider myself to be a cat person, which is why I wanted to read this book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.

SOBBING. One of my favorites for sure.
Mia is a middle aged woman who’s content with her life: married, childless, has a cat for 16 years, excellent businesswoman, has impeccable routine and everything in order.
Until at some point, everything started to get out of her control and she falls. Hard.
As a cat person myself, I personally enjoyed this book. I resonate with some of Mia’s point of view about the world, even though lucky for me I live in a country where cat person is the most common type of pet person. Now I’m a little over half Mia’s age but I wonder if I’d grow up to be like her. I felt her, truly.
It has a strong feminist voice that felt cathartic to read. Sometimes my heart was overflowing with tender feelings and the other times I wanted to punch someone. I love the “very strange group of friends”. Obviously I love Mia’s character. I love how everything turned out, even though I think there’s a lot of little holes where the story skipped from scene to scene. That’s fine, tho. It’s still very much coherent. I just wanted it to be a bit longer.
This book is one of those rare books that makes me want to immediately reread right after I finished it. I think I’ll check Dawn’s other books later.

Really enjoyed this story of Mia and the cat who saved her from her unhappy childhood. Despite some thoroughly unlikeable characters and cringeworthy sex scenes, it was truly moving and very funny.

Being a cat lady too, I really enjoyed this book. First book I have read by Dawn O’Porter & look forward to reading more!

I read this book in one day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Quite poignant in places, often funny and emotional and covers loneliness, grief and accepting others. Recommended. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for this review copy.
