This was a fun read that I was drawn into from the beginning. I really liked the premise, and how the story twisted through different POVs. I was a bit disappointed in the ending, and didn't feel like it matched up with the tension that was building up throughout the story. Still, a fun and quick read that I enjoyed overall.
Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Jude is a professional house sitter. She takes on a new assignment house sitting for entrepreneur Michelle Crane and her intentions are not entirely on a professional - Michelle has something Jude needs and her time is running out to find it.
Will Jude betray a stranger to save herself?
A short book about a woman reinventing herself after leav8mg an abusive relationship, great career, and start8ng over. Determined to live life on her own terms.
I enjoyed this book.
It was a fast and light read. It’s somewhat repetitive and it makes it seem a little more intense than what it is. The ending fell a little flat.
Fun fact: one chapter had only one word!
Jude has been asked to house-sit for a social media influencer & and entrepreneur Michelle Crane, The only problem is an unknown has contacted her in order to get information about Michelle and if she doesn't they will release some of her own secrets.
Thank you NetGalley for the kindle copy in exchange for a honest review. Michelle Crane runs a famous stationary business. She employs Jude as her house sitter when she goes away. After receiving a phone call Jude has to find something in Michelle’s house to keep her secrets buried. Will Jude betray Michelle to save herself? A thrilling read.
A great book. I loved the characters and the story flowed really well . I was hooked from the first page. I liked the plot and ending aswell
I was happy to have the pleasure of reading this book. I heard a lot of good things from people I follow on BookTok. All thrillers seem to start out slow and this one is no different but once it gets going WOW!! I loved the twist at the end and totally surprised me with all the repetitions of Jude's nature in the story. If you are looking for a suspense thriller and a nail-biting turn this book is highly recommended.
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.
A pretty standard, but still interesting thriller. Felt it was a bit hard to get into at first, but was hooked by the halfway point.
*****I received this free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
The House Sitter had an interesting concept. It was a bit slow to start. It just didn’t give me enough to really get excited. I kept wanting more, and it just wasn’t there.
I give this book 3.5 starts rounded up to 4.
I read this book in one sitting which is unusual for me.
I could not put it down/
The characters were so well written making connecting to them easy.
The premise of house sitting is more frequent in novels these days but this one really stands out.
Its written in such a way that the need to keep reading is high.
I got really immersed in it from the first page, and I found I didnt want to know what happened I NEEDED to know.
This author. is one of my favourites and I cant wait for the next book.
This is one author to watch
Highly recommended
Very exciting book to read. It was exciting, fast paced. Everything I look for in a book. I was hooked right from the beginning. It had a great plot that played out well. It was very well written. Highly recommend
received this book from NetGalley.
This book was full of suspense and was a very enjoyable read. It really did keep me thinking and the writing made me feel like I was with Jude while she was doing everything in the book.
I figured out about halfway that Jude and Libby were the same person and that's longer than it normally takes me, so I enjoyed that.
I did think that Hester was a bit sketchy so to find out who the real blackmailer was came as a bit of a shock. I wish we knew a little bit more about Neil and what happened to him eventually, but maybe that would have taken away from the story.
Overall, a quick read that was really enjoyable.
Man, I flew through this crazy mystery! Keeps you going even when you should be doing other things besides reading (housework!). Great characters, great premise.
Jude the house sitter for successful business woman Michelle seems over her head while she carries out clandestine searches in Michelle's house, ordered by an unknown blackmailer who threatens to out Jude's past.
Jude seems anxious, faltering, unsure of herself, even clumsy at times, in her desperate search for papers that the blackmailer demands.
Jude seems out of character; she doesn't fit the profile once we know who she really is. This helps to build suspense in the novel, but her personality is contradictory once we get to the truth.
A quick and mildly entertaining read.
House sitter Jude takes on an assignment to house sit for a weekend for self made entrepreneur Michelle Crane. Let's just say this is no normal house sit as Jude is planning on ruining Michelle's life.
If you are after a slow burning suspense to read then look no further.

Jude Quinn is under pressure to complete a task given to her by a mystery caller. She is asked to find documents in the house of a famous influencer. These documents have the power to destroy the reputation of the influencer, and if Jude does not find them secrets of her past are threatened to be revealed. The story is told from the perspectives of two women, Jude and Libby whose lives intertwine in a twist revealed at the end of the book.
As an avid reader of suspense and thriller novels, this one missed the mark for me. At first the plot opened with an intriguing story line, but as the story continued the bulk of the book seemed to center around Jude constantly weighing and emphasizing the dire consequences she would face if she did not complete the task by the mystery caller. For all the build up of the story, when Jude’s past is finally revealed her secrets she carried fell flat and really wasn’t something that would destroy her reputation. It was a cheesy plot and so far fetched that by the end of it I felt like reading this book was a waste of time. I gave it 3 stars because the plot had promise. The characters were interesting, and I was engaged for the better part of the novel, but the ending was disappointing and just fell short. The storyline was very predictable. I applaud any author who puts themselves out there and writes a novel. I definitely do not want to tear this author down, this was just by far one of the cheesiest suspense novels I have read in a while.
Michelle Crane is a popular self-made entrepreneur who owns a stationery company named Paper Crane and has a social media presence with millions of followers. Things change for Jude Quinn when she is interviewed by Michelle Crane for a home sitter job at the crane's palatial house. Jude gets the job when she least expects it. Jude has been very impressed with Michelle's social status, dedication, and hard work. Her duty is to look after Michelle's home when she is away. And thereafter, Michelle readily steps out of her home for a three-day trip. In three days, Jude has a job to do, and if she fails, she is going to be in some sort of danger.
What is Jude up to by intruding into Michelle's privacy when she is gone? Jude feels like an intruder. Jude feels like a fraud as she is trying to steal Michelle's documents that proved her identity, probably an attempted identity theft was happening here. Why and who has assigned her this task to do? Many questions creep into my mind as I read through the chapters. I was left with no clue almost at the end of the novel about who the anonymous phone caller is trying to blackmail Jude to find the documents to steal her identity. I could feel that Jude had no choice and was under pressure to save herself. The main reason she is there is all a plan of the caller. The caller - A nameless enemy.
There is another character Libby, Jude was previously known as Libby. The drastic changes in these two characters caught my interest to read the book. I loved the twist at the end and totally surprised me with all the repetitions of Jude's nature in the story. If you are looking for a suspense thriller and a nail-biting turn this book is highly recommended.

Not a thriller.
It was an interesting read but I was expecting a thriller. The dual narration is excellent in this book, the POV’s were well crafted.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this novel in exchange for a free, no nonsense, completely honest review. I take reviewing books very seriously and my ideas are never influenced by freebies.
Jude has decided to take a job house sitting for a social media mogul named Michelle. It sounds like a pretty simple gig: house sit. However, Jude has a secret: she's actually there to dig through Michelle's things and find some "documents" for a random caller who is blackmailing her. Sure, Jude could just say "no" but the blackmailer keeps insisting that he will "ruin her" and let out a big, dark secret. What is that secret? Well, as a reader I kept asking that question over and over again until the point that I actually didn't care. It was not "suspenseful," it was just annoying to be kept out of the loop.
Well, the "secret past" is revealed way, way towards the end of the story and is a huge let down. I mean... it is 2023. I do not think the "secret" is as life-ruining as the character in the book wants to think it is. Quite frankly, I don't think most people could be blackmailed with most of the information that is divulged.
Who was the caller -- another secret that the book is going to reveal at the end. But again, what a let down. Hyped so much, there is this potential blackmail, and then.... oh. That's it? That is... all? That's the end... seriously?
It seemed like the first half of the book was building up to something, but then when you're on that downward rollercoaster there is nothing entertaining to get excited about. I cannot say that I connected to any of the characters. I cannot say that I was happy with the end because it felt a little rushed and, more importantly, very anticlimactic. It was a quick read, however, and if you're interested in giving it a chance it may be more your cup of tea. However, it just didn't work as a full concept for me at the end of the book (even though the ideas were good -- at least, the first half was really good!). The ending was what killed this book.
