Thanks to Netgalley and Bookfox Press for the ARC of this book!
Read this with my homeschooled children and overall it wasn't a good fit for us. The art style was cute, but I found it to be almost confusing for a young reader, my daughter (11)pointed out the "half limes" in the stomach, for example - obviously it was meant to make food recognizable, but ignored the importance of teeth and saliva in the digestive process. The text and dialogue were frustrating, it seemed to be working up to a rhyme scheme and rhythm in some places, but then dropped it in others. My daughter also pointed out that she did not enjoy the 2nd person storytelling, and that it was odd that the main character went inside themself, specifically, since "how are they in both places at once?" She said it did seem educational, and there was information that was new to my son (8), but we found it hard to get through. Unfortunately, I think there's just better books on this topic out there.
This book is idea for teaching young children about complex subjects.
The illustrations provide a fun picture book for the very young to learn about how our body works. For my primary age kids, they could learn the 'pepper's names of the body systems and cells via a fun story. This meant they retained the information.
A great classroom resource.
This was amazing! It was full of information to help the child learn about their body. The illustrations were colorful and fun. I love that the book includes little superhero cells and that it helps the child interact by asking questions and utilizing a search for items. This would be an amazing book for a classroom, a library, or a personal collection.
Tiny Adventures Inside Me is a beautifully illustrated book that simplifies the complex inner workings of our body. I enjoyed reading this book and it is a fantastic resource to utilize in lessons for children about this topic.
This captivating children's book immediately captures readers' attention by immersing them in a thrilling adventure of shrinking down to the size of a microbe and exploring the fascinating world within the human body. The author skillfully incorporates educational information into the narrative, effortlessly explaining complex concepts about microbiology in a way that is accessible and easy to comprehend. This book serves as a doorway to curiosity, igniting a lifelong passion for science in young readers. As a woman in STEM, I thoroughly enjoy reading this book and would highly recommend it to parents I know.
This extraordinary children's book hooks readers from the very first page, inviting them to shrink down to the size of a microbe and witness the wonders that lie within the human body. As you turn each page, you'll be captivated by the vibrant illustrations and mesmerizing storytelling. The author seamlessly weaves educational content into the narrative, making complex concepts about microbiology easily understandable. This book is a gateway to curiosity, igniting a lifelong love for science in young readers.
This was super cute! I am a scientist by trade, with experience substitute teaching. I'm always looking for really easy to digest (pun fully intended) scientific books for children. As a woman in STEM I fully believe in starting out scientists young. Tiny Adventures Inside Me is a great kick start for that. It was a really great overview of all of your body systems and how they work together to keep you going. This book would be perfect for 7-9 year old's. The book is technical enough to keep your kiddo engaged, but not too young that they will feel like it's too baby-ish. I think it's a great educational tool to help reinforce the body systems unit in science when it rolls around. I also very much appreciated the little I-Spy details sprinkled throughout. There was a funny little character to look for on each new body system. Along the same lines, the illustrations were cute as heck. I opened the book and immediately cooed at the red blood cells. The only criticism I have is that some of the rhyming and flow was off. Mind you it wasn't bad, but if I was reading it to my child it would mildly annoy me.
A captivating and educational children's book that seamlessly combines adventure with science. As the young child shrinks down to the size of a microbe, readers are taken on a remarkable journey through the human body. The author's ability to make complex concepts accessible to young readers is commendable, as they effortlessly explain the fascinating world of microbiology. The vibrant illustrations further enhance the immersive experience, bringing the microscopic world to life. This book is an excellent resource for teaching children about their bodies, germs, and the importance of hygiene.
The colorful illustrations and the fun 'find it" activity keeps kids moving through the book like the main character moves through the systems of the body. This fun story starts out in a park with the main character finding an interesting device that helps him shrink down and explore the inside of the human body. He finally realizes that he needs to eat right and exercise in order to help his new "human body" friends do their jobs well.

Children's Fiction - Health, Mind & Body - Parenting & Families
A microbiology book for little children is a win for any day. The illustrations and descriptive writing sold me on this book. This was a fun way to explain and explore what is inside our bodies from discussing bacteria, cells, viruses and how we can stay healthy. It is never too early to encourage your children to take an interest in subjects such as this. My children enjoyed the story, and I cannot wait to find more books likes this.

I enjoyed how the author used a mix of illustrations and comic stylization throughout the book. The illustrations of organs, cells, etc. are child appropriate, while also being relatively realistically designed. It’s reminiscent of a Jan Brett, but non-fiction in that the right corner has an outline of our characters body and where we’re located inside on each page as a new system is introduced.
They used rhyming language to signify the beginning and the end of the text. The rhyme scheme as well as the animization of parts makes this text developmentally appropriate for young audience to learn about the human body. Despite the intended audience being young children, the author does not shy away from using the complex and accurate human anatomy language. This is important as young children are not only more than capable of handling this language, but it is more beneficial to expose them to this language rather than infantilizing it. Overall, this is a great child-friendly text for any classroom, home, or library!
