A microbiology book for little children is a win for any day. The illustrations and descriptive writing sold me on this book. This was a fun way to explain and explore what is inside our bodies from discussing bacteria, cells, viruses and how we can stay healthy. It is never too early to encourage your children to take an interest in subjects such as this. My children enjoyed the story, and I cannot wait to find more books likes this.

I enjoyed how the author used a mix of illustrations and comic stylization throughout the book. The illustrations of organs, cells, etc. are child appropriate, while also being relatively realistically designed. It’s reminiscent of a Jan Brett, but non-fiction in that the right corner has an outline of our characters body and where we’re located inside on each page as a new system is introduced.

They used rhyming language to signify the beginning and the end of the text. The rhyme scheme as well as the animization of parts makes this text developmentally appropriate for young audience to learn about the human body. Despite the intended audience being young children, the author does not shy away from using the complex and accurate human anatomy language. This is important as young children are not only more than capable of handling this language, but it is more beneficial to expose them to this language rather than infantilizing it. Overall, this is a great child-friendly text for any classroom, home, or library!
