Itโs a book with a strong and unusual plot, so I should *love* it, but in the end I just liked it a lot - the main characters are just horrible people and it was the strength of the writing that kept me reading. ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
I nearly stopped listening to this audiobook as the male narrator was so annoying. However, I am so glad I persevered as the story was breathtakingly stressful. My heart was in my mouth all the way through.
Fallon discovers she is not related to her brother and parents. She soon finds out she has a wealth of brothers through her birth parents and one of these, according to touch DNA left at the scene of multiple murders is a serial killer. But which one?
A brilliant, heart-in-the-mouth read.

This is the first book I've read by this author but given that it was my absolutely favourite genre, I couldn't resist grabbing it and omg! am I so glad that I did!
This coupled with the absolutely striking front cover and I was hooked before I even started!
I don't even know where to begin with this. The plot was so genius and the twists just kept coming and I absolutely could not put this down until I'd got to the end and had all the answers.
The introduction of characters was great and we are thrown into the action straight away when Oliver gives Fallon the results of their genealogy testing for Christmas. Thinking it would be an interesting hobby for her, Oliver could not have forseen the trouble he just started.
Now I honestly don't want to give you any more plot information as I don't want to slip up and give any spoilers but the whole thing was just so good!
From Fallon's current struggle with a past traumatic event, her clients issues, her new discoveries to even the smaller things going on for her, I was literally on the edge of my seat.
I loved that Fallon was a total contradiction. Being a therapist and offering advice to her clients to open up and release their trauma by day, but then attending her own therapy to release her own trauma - and coming up with reasons/excuses and lies to avoid opening up fully!
Other events caused me to see this contradiction also - but this, you'll have to read and see for yourself....
Such an intriguing and fascinating character to explore.
This was told from both Fallon's and The Brother's pov's and this worked perfectly because as the story developed, we gathered little insights into the brother's personality which meant that we just couldn't trust anyone, even after Fallon discounted people.
The ending was just amazing! Everything I love in a psychological thriller. The twists just kept coming and even in the final lines of the book you are left wondering!
I actually cannot recommend this book enough - it may well just have to be added to my 2023 favourites....
Having spotted this isn't a debut novel, I'm off to add previous books to my wishlist asap....
**I also listened to the audio of this book and absolutely loved our 2 narrators.
Using the male voice for the chapters that were from the brothers' pov made these feel so much more creepy.
I found that it read a little too slow for me and had to turn up the speed slightly, but actually I think this also added to the atmosphere.
I loved the inclusion of the letter from the author at the end - it is always great to have some insight into what motivates the author to write the books that they do - especially with this genre!
Thereโs an awful lot to unpack in this story. Dr. Fallon Hurley, a psychologist working remotely very remotely in fact from her cottage in the forest. A cottage that she moved to after a split from her now turning stalker ex boyfriend. And after a really traumatic event thatโs about to be trawled out in court.
Fallon receives a dna test as a surprise Christmas present from her little brother, only to find out that theyโre not related, and that she actually has four other brothers, oddly this doesnโt seem to cause huge ripples. She meets all of the brothers in turn, but one of them is a serial killer, and Fallon is tasked with playing a sick game to find out which one.
I loved the idea behind this story, I remembered every time her name was mentioned that Fallon was my favourite name as a child ๐ the majority of the story gripped me, but the name drop of every serial killer you can think of put me off a little, the over explaining of things that didnโt really matter a great deal put me off a little. The massive protection dog that rolled over to everyone that gained entry to Fallons home put me off a little, the fact that there were so many murders and the police didnโt seem to be involved at all other than Fallons contact who was getting a friend to look into it (really?) and by the end when the killer was unmasked Iโd forgotten who he was. Itโs was all maybe a bit too much in all honesty.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bolinda audio for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in return for an honest review.
This is exactly up my street, absorbing and addictive - plot points are a bit unbelievable but that is the fun of reading.
I really liked having the dual narration and the fact that right to the end you didn't know. At times I wanted to throw something at the main character and I couldn't relate to some of the stuff that she did. I also struggled with the court preparation felt that would have been better but get why it wasn't due to the story.
All in all a great listen.
I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.
This is one of those 'one sitting reads' where you just have to read more to find out how it all plays out. It's a hard one to describe because of spoilers, but it had me hooked from the start.
I was on tenterhooks as she tried to work out who was who. I even found myself sighing with relief as she ruled people out, but of course, there was a twist!
I listened to this via audiobook I loved the narrators they helped create a good listening experience.
I am not especially loving the brother's side of things. He isn't at all someone anyone can relate to, that is the point, but it feels very shallow. He is just a serial killer having a good time. To me, that is boring. I love Fallon's side though. She is complex. She has a dark tale of her own somewhere but doesn't define her and it isn't everything. Her relationship with Ollie is great too.
I could just tell this was about to get even more twisty!
The narration is perfection for both perspectives! ]
The killer though- so cringe.
This sounded right up my street and the synopsis gave me major SERIAL KILLERโS SISTER vibes. Dark, chilling and suspenseful, this family reunion turned game of cat and mouse thriller was fast paced and interesting, BUT I wasnโt crazy about it.
While the plot line was intriguing and well thought out, unfortunately I wasnโt a huge fan of the writing style itself. A lot of the dialogue came across as quite simple, some major events and twists felt rushed, and although Iโm normally a fan of multiple storylines, this aspect didnโt work as well as it could have in this book.
Having said that, I switched to the audio version about a third of the way in and enjoyed it a lot more. There were plenty of positive features: there was no shortage of twists and turns, and the introspective look at nature vs nurture when it comes to serial killers was compelling. I also found, being a psychologist, the perspective of our main character was a super interesting one, as she intertwines her experiences with her understanding. The prologue was also PERFECTION ๐๐ฝ

I really enjoyed this book and was gripped from the very start.
Fallon has discovered that she has four brothers that she never knew about, following the results of a DNA test and just after that, she is told that one of them is a serial killer, having been matches by DNA from the crime scenes, but with a whole new family to get to know, how is she going to work out which brother is the killer, while not accusing them all when she has only just met them?
I really enjoyed the alternating POVs of Fallon and the killer brother and the twists that kept coming as she gradually manages to gain evidence to either suspect or clear each brother.
The killerโs method of choosing his victims was very clever and the characters were all well developed.
Charlotte Worthing and Jack Bennett are excellent narrators.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audio book. It was an excellent page turner that I couldnโt put down. Itโs full of twists and turns throughout that keel you on the edge of your seat. The characters were interesting, the plot was excellent, and the style of writing was perfect. The narrators really brought the story to life for me.
**Listened to the audiobook**
I really didn't know what to expect with this - but the premise sounded right up my street and so I was just hoping the book would fulfil my expectations. Luckily it did! I really enjoyed this and listened to it within 24 hours, as I was really gripped!
I really liked how the book had two narrators - male and female. It really brought the different perspectives alive. I fell hook line and sinker into N.V Peacocks 'red herrings' in regards to 'the brother' (I shall say no more due to spoilers) and I didn't see the twists coming!
If you're looking for an easy (and I say that as a complement) and gripping thriller audiobook with two fantastic narrators, that really keeps you guessing - this is the one!!
An entertaining read, that sometimes feels over the top, and completely unbelievable.... but great fun.
Some good parts, I particularly enjoyed the way the killer found their victims.
I enjoyed the to-ing and fro-ing of who the killer is, even though its a small pool of suspects.
Some of the interactions between characters seemed unbelievably, but I didn't let it get in the way of a fast paced story.
An enjoyable listen, that the male narrator struck just the right side of creepy and crazy.
