This book is good for any child going through the loss of a loved one. It is very well written with a nice rhythm and flow. The animations are well done and appropriate for the story. There is a strong positive message at the end of the book that is good for all ages to read and remember. In the kindle download there is a duplicate of the page where the dog searches for their favourite toy mouse.

Lilo is a puppy who is best friends with her next door neighbour, a human girl named Mo. The two of them have so much fun together, that the pup has dug a special hole underneath the fence between the two homes, so that she can always reach Mo easily.
But when she goes over one day to find Mo desperately sad, Lilo is determined to figure out a way to make her feel better. Mo tells Lilo her father has left, that he has gone to heaven and is never coming back.
After trying a variety of methods to coax a smile out of her friend, the puppy is puzzled to see that Mo does not respond to any of her efforts. Instead, she continues to cry. It is only when Lilo finally gives up and lies down next to her, that Mo is able to take comfort from cuddling with her.
This story is a wonderful way to teach children that while sometimes things happen that do not have any easy solution, there is always comfort to be found in the care and closeness of someone who loves you.
Sometimes, your affection and your presence is all you can really offer someone. And sometimes, that is all that they really need from you.

In this touching children's book, Lilo and her best friend, Mo, find themselves in a garden filled with both flowers and tears. When Mo is overcome with sadness, Lilo knows she must do everything she can to bring back the sparkle in her friend's eyes. Join Lilo as she tries different tricks to comfort Mo, leading young readers on a journey of empathy, understanding, and the power of true friendship. With its gentle exploration of grief and loss, A Different Day is a must-have resource for children to navigate complex emotions, all wrapped in a heartfelt and beautifully illustrated tale of love and companionship.
A Different Day is remarkably written. This book starts out with Mo going through a really tough loss, and she is grieving. The dog, Lilo, tries everything she can think of to cheer Mo up, but nothing seems to be working. Lilo goes and puts her paw on Mo's hand, and Mo shows a small smile.
Lilo realizes the best thing she can do in that very moment is to just be there with Mo. That is such a good lesson for everyone to know. Friendship is a beautiful thing, and sometimes, that is more than enough.
Author, Ash Hunter, did a phenomenal job with this book. I 100% recommend everyone to read this book!

What a beautiful story about friendship and compassion! Even though it seems silly to think a dog would know enough to try to cheer someone up like this story, it happens a the time - a dog knowing you're having a bad day, or you're sick, etc. And even though they might not be taking it to the extreme, the empathy is still there and all they want is for you to feel better. It's a cute story, and I think the messages in it are powerful
A Different Day is a tale of friendship between puppy Lilo and his neighbor friend, Mo. They play together all the time, but one day, Mo is really sad. Lilo tries to cheer her up in lots of different ways, but ends up just sitting down by Mo and being there for her.
This story deals with loss of a loved one, grief, and sadness. It's okay to be sad, and sometimes the best thing we can do for our friends who are sad is to let them know we are there for them. This is a great way to teach our kiddos that it's normal to feel bad or sad sometimes, and it's okay.
I definitely recommend this be available to kids through schools and libraries. If your kids have gone through a loss, they need this book!
