I love sloths, so I expected the best from this book but I'm completely disappointed. This book, at least for the pictures, is a work wholly made by AI. Considering that AI is nothing but theft, I'm disgusted. The pictures are often similar to each other, it changes only the drawing style, proof that is not one "hand" but a computer generating them.
Me and my children read this story. It about a little sloth that go on a trip to the lower half of America. While there he meets different sloths and finds out things about their heritage.
This was a fun story to read. It had action and adventure throughout. It had a few giggles within. There was colorful pictures throughout.
I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
I love sloths and downloaded this because of the title as well as the cover. I really wanted to love this unfortunately while this was a quick and enjoyable read it fell short of my expectations. This was a repetitive story that had some cute illustrations and some interesting facts.
I would recommed this to young readers just starting out.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
The Adventure of Pedro the Sloth in Latin America is just so adorable! I love sloths, so when I saw this cover, I couldn't wait to read it! Pedro is always sleeping, so his parents decide to send him out to discover the world, namely New Mexico, in this book. Pedro is just adorable (I mean, look at his little face on the cover!), and as we follow him on his adventure, we learn so many interesting things about Mexicos culture, history, and more. The book is entertaining and holds the attention of a child by not being too overloaded and kept a short read. I really hope this is made into a series as I would love to read more of Pedro and his adventures.
I love this book! It will be a perfect book for a few of my teacher friends at work! I can't wait to read this book go my students. The art work is beautiful!
I really enjoyed this cute kid’s book, though it may be a tad bit long for a quick bedtime story. I quite enjoyed that it can show kids what they are missing by not branching out. The illustrations were adorable and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I would like to thank the author, publisher, and Netgalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is a beautifully illustrated journey of a sloth family. Everything about it was pleasing to the eye. Well done.
I did not really like this book. I understand and like the concept of it, but the book is off putting to me. While it does include facts that are good to know, much of it seems like a regurgitation of stereotypes about Mexico and it's residents.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
This was a delightful read for 3-5 year old's and those young at old like me. The book tells the story of Pedro who is always sleeping and thus his parents decides to send him on a road trip . The illustrations are top tier and the adventure he embarks on. Cannot wait for book 2. It's absolutely love this book.
What a delightful book, the story and the illustrations are wonderful. This is the sort of book my younger grandchildren absolutely adore. Presumably there will be a series and I will be buying it for our real bookcase.
I’m pretty certain that Pedro the Sloth and I are related 😊 Pedro’s mom and dad think that he sleeps too much – and is missing out on life! They finally sent him out on a great adventure and told him that if he keeps sleeping so much – he will miss out on all kinds of exciting discoveries! Pedro gets to experience all kinds of new things in Mexico! This book if full of beautiful illustrations and I can’t wait to share it with my grandmuffin!! Thank you to Netgalley and Shaheen O’Brian for sharing a digital advanced copy of The Adventures of Pedro the Sloth in Latin America in exchange for an honest review.
Pedro, the young sloth, is ALWAYS sleeping. His parents try everything to get him to sleep less, but nothing works, until they decide to send him on an adventure exploring Latin America. His trip begins in Mexico, where he eats some tacos and drives by a few landmarks, not much of an adventure, if you ask me. This book had a lot of potential. Cute sloths, exploring new places, and learning about new cultures, what else could you ask for? Well apparently, continuity in the illustrations was too much to ask for. I could have forgiven the different styles if they had done a better job depicting the different scenes, but, there are 14 pictures of sloths in a restaurant, but not a single one includes a taco, which is in the title of the book. Also, where is Pedro from? It says he lives in the rain forest, but then he drives across the border from American into Mexico? I could potentially see an emerging reader enjoying this book. With the cute pictures and the easy sentence structure, they aren’t likely to be put off by the weak editing and haphazard illustrations, but this isn’t a book that you will cherish for the quality of the writing or it’s rich history and Mexican culture.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I read this book to my 9 year old daughter. She thinks the book should’ve been longer and explain his entire trip. The book seemed to repeat itself a lot and was a bit boring.

This is a fun and exciting journey to Mexico with Pedro the Sloth. He's lazy and likes to sleep a lot, so his parents send him on an adventure. The illustrations are vivid and detailed. We get to learn a lot about sloths & Mexico with Pedro has he goes on his adventure. Great way for kids to learn about new places and cultures!
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this advanced review copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review on the book!
Pedro is a young sloth who sleeps all the time. He sleeps so much that even his parents, who are also sloths, begin to worry about it...
They try everything to keep Pedro awake more of the time, including inviting his African cousins, the baboons, over to visit from the Savannah. But Pedro still sleeps through their visit!
Then, his parents have a great idea. They decide to send Pedro to explore 20 countries in South America on a tour bus. Surely the excitement of exploring new cultures, eating varieties of foods, and meeting new friends will be enough to keep Pedro awake?
And they are right! The first place on Pedro's itinerary is Mexico, where he finds out that the largest Pyramid in the world is not in Egypt, that there are cacti that can grow up to 70 feet tall and live for 300 years, and that you can make friends with one of the world's tiniest dog breeds when you are eating yummy tacos in a Mexican restaurant.
I very much enjoyed reading about Pedro's adventure - and also the excellent artwork, which is a combination of cute cartoons and other illustrations, along with a few photos. This is a wonderful book with which to introduce children to the wider world.I including (for some of us) distant countries like Mexico.
This was a very cute book— and I learned some interesting facts about Mexico that I didn’t know before — so I can see how this would be informative . I felt the introduction before Pedro went on his a bit long — children would lose interest and focus . The illustrations at times for me didn’t fit the text of what was happening — so it was a bit confusing the relationship between some of the pictures and the story — but I loved the artwork throughout it was very beautiful.
This was a super cute and fun short read! The art was beautiful and adorable. The story about Pedro, the sleepy sloth, was not only enjoyable but also informative. As a half-Mexican that’s been raised in Norway, I always want to/try and learn more about Mexico’s culture and history. Not only was this book filled with facts about Mexico, but it was written in such a way that I can see myself reading this to a child without them being bored or losing their attention. The pictures used with the text was wonderful, but they were quite varying in art style which threw me off slightly. I highly recommend getting this book to read for your child, or just for your own enjoyment. I know I would’ve absolutely loved this book as a child. Thank you to Netgalley for giving me this E-Arc.
This is the story of a young sloth being encouraged to get up and go travelling. It brings the opportunity to consider other places in the World, in this case Mexico. The pictures are big, and eye catching. The text though is quite long; probably suggests to me this is a book for an adult to share with a child. Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for the ARC. THAT WAS SO CUTE! Loved it !
First of all : I love the idea of having a sloth as the main character ! Sloth are so cute ! And a young sloth discovering the world, going on a trip across unknown countries that he discovers that's amazing ! How to make kids travel around world with a book, make them discovering new food, new animals, new languages and all with an only book ? HERE WE ARE !
I can't wait to discover new countries (Guatemalaaaaa!) with Pedro !
This is an adorable book. The illustrations inside (and on the cover) are great & fun. The story was cute, fun & educational. I love that it teaches kids things, that some adults may not even know, about Mexico. I can’t wait to see where else Pedro the sloth goes on his adventures.
