The writing is one of my favourite parts of this book. It's easy to understand and gets you hooked on the plot from the beginning. The atmosphere created was enchanting and made me feel as though I was sailing along the sea with the characters. The plot is fast-paced with both action scenes and sweet, character-focused moments. Speaking of, I loved the main character Fable and her development throughout the book. I also really enjoyed all the side characters and their relationships.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc in return for my honest review.
Unfortunately this book wasn’t for me as I didn’t feel the characters were very well fleshed out and nothing much was happening so I was bored. Dnf at 25%
Thankyou to NetGalley and Bolinda Audio for a free audio recording of Fable in exchange of an honest review.
This book has been on my TBR for a long time and when i saw that the audio book was available and that id been accepted for a copy i couldn't say no!
Firstly the audio narration was done really well. Initially the narrators voice did throw me a little as they sounded much younger than i anticipated but i soon got past that and now i cant imagine anyone else's voice!
The story itself has been hugely hyped up and although not a great deal happens and the stakes aren't exactly high, I still thoroughly enjoyed it and the vibes were on point! I could imagine everything vividly down to the smell of the salt in the air. I love the characters and the found family aspect and i cant wait to read Namesake to see where the story leads after that ending!
I’m actually quite sad that I did not like this book as much as I had hoped.
I unfortunately did not really like the narrator’s voice, I just felt like it did not fit the character that well. (I will never rate a book lower because of the narrator though)
Now for the actual plot, where was it? Like nothing happened, there were too many day to day scenes when i was promised adventure. I liked the characters but I wasn’t really attached to any of them. The main romance lacked depth in my opinion, I really wished we had more scene between the two of them before their first kiss. I love romance in my fantasy so when I realised that I could have done without I realised that something was wrong.
I did not see the last plot twist coming, I did see part of it but not the whole but I cannot explain without spoiling.
Overall, I wished there had been more action scene and more scene between the two love interest but I’m still interesting in reading the rest of the series to see where the plot is actually going because I feel like there is going to be a bit more action.
An interesting read. One I would definitely recommend to my niece who loves YA. Not fully my cup of tea
This book was very hyped up and I couldn’t wait to read it because I love all things sea and pirates.
However, I was slightly disappointed - although I did finish it in one day.
I felt the characters were fleshed out and the plot was quite basic, however it is a good book for a quick summer read.
The audio narrators really brought the adventure to life!
It reminded me of The Pirate King’s Daughter so I would recommend that if you like this.
