Description
Welcome to a world made dangerous by the sea and by those who wish to profit from it. Where a young girl must find her place and her family while trying to survive in a world built for men.
As the daughter of the most powerful trader in the Narrows, the sea is the only home 17-year-old Fable has ever known. It s been four years since the night she watched her mother drown during an unforgiving storm. The next day, her father abandoned her on a legendary island filled with thieves and little food. To survive, she must keep to herself, learn to trust no one and rely on the unique skills her mother taught her. The only thing that keeps her going is the goal of getting off the island, finding her father and demanding her rightful place beside him and his crew. To do so, Fable enlists the help of a young trader named West to get her off the island and across the Narrows to her father.
But her father’s rivalries and the dangers of his trading enterprise have only multiplied since she last saw him, and Fable soon finds that West isn't who he seems. Together, they will have to survive more than the treacherous storms that haunt the Narrows if they're going to stay alive.

(Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review)
The writing is one of my favourite parts of this book. It's easy to understand and gets you hooked on the plot from the beginning. The atmosphere created was enchanting and made me feel as though I was sailing along the sea with the characters. The plot is fast-paced with both action scenes and sweet, character-focused moments. Speaking of, I loved the main character Fable and her development throughout the book. I also really enjoyed all the side characters and their relationships.
I’d like to thank NetGalley and Bolinda Audio for approving me for an ARC of this book. I have had this on the reading pile for a long time and was excited to get started. I also enjoyed chatting with my reading buddies Bex and Amanda as I went.
🌊Set mostly onboard the Marigold, we follow Fable as she embarks on a mission to find her father. I liked Fable and her quick thinking, there were a few occasions when she got out of a tight situation.
⚓The crew of the Marigold consists of teens, orphans and outcasts and Fable seems to fit in perfectly, even if they were reluctant to have her at the start. I enjoyed learning more about the different relationships and friendships on board the ship too.
💓The love interest took a little while to show itself but once it did I was here for it! I can’t wait to see how this develops in the second book.
⭐This was easy listening and just what I needed. I’m looking forward to reading the next book and discovering what happens next for Fable, West and Saint.
