“Wolfgang composed his first piece on this keyboard instrument, even before he knew how to put the music down. He was only five!”

Wolfgang Mozart was born in Salzburg, in what is now Austria, into a musical family. His father was a well-known musician, teaching his children the harpsichord. How cute is this little fellow with his powdered wig!

My Goodreads review includes an illustration with the caption:
“He learned how to play the keyboard just by watching his older sister, Nannerl, his hero.”

It was obvious his sister was gifted and he was a genius, so his father took the two of them around Europe and even to perform at court.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration with the caption:
“Every place gave them the chance to discover new music styles and learn from other musicians.”

I’ve enlarged a couple of the illustrations from the page above. They are whimsical, but I don’t know how big the actual book is to know how easy it is to see the details.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration here.
In the picture above, Wolfgang is playing blindfolded.

In the picture below, he is playing an enormous organ for astounded monks.

His sister was older and was of an age to be married, so she was no longer allowed to travel with Wolfgang. He continued to impress. He composed a symphony in his head when he was eight, could write choir music from memory after he’d heard it, and was invited to write an opera in Milan.

As an adult, he became the city concertmaster, but that wasn’t enough, so it was time to hit the road again. He looks more as if he’s fleeing (with his piano) rather than making a stately carriage trip!

My Goodreads review includes an illustration with the caption:
“But, just as the flute didn’t make his heart sing, neither did Salzburg, so he moved to the exciting city of Vienna.”

There he composed everything, the music he’s known for, and got married. He and his wife loved music and fine things, but they had to borrow money to pay their debts.

My Goodreads review includes an illustration with the caption:
“Wolfgang worked tirelessly as a performer and composer, even writing pieces while bowling with his friends.”

There are a few illustrations with people in wheelchairs, which is a nice touch, I think. Everyone loved his music, and he was even asked to write a requiem, which became a favourite with the public. There seemed to be nothing he couldn’t do.

He fill ill when writing the requiem, but the book doesn’t mention how young he was when he died – he was not quite 37. My preview copy has the four black and white prints at the back but doesn’t include the dates and biographical notes that I am sure are in the finished book.

It also doesn’t mention his middle name in the story, which surprises me, since most people (I know) refer to Mozart, or Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Perhaps it is in the notes.

This seems a little lighter on the historical details than usual, again perhaps because I am missing the notes. Thanks to #NetGalley and Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for the preview copy of #Mozart.

This marvelous book comes with vibrant and stylish illustrations and bonus facts at the back of the book, including a biographical timeline (of Mozart) with historical pictures.
I love how this series finishes the book with an empowering and inspiring message for our young dreamers.

Special thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for giving the opportunity to read the advance copy.

I love these series but this one is so cute!
More children should be able to see the wonder of music and this might give them the glimpse they need!

I absolutely adore these books as much as my children. We always learn so much together, and they are just so beautiful to.look at. Mozart was a child prodigy, learning to play music from 3 years old and composing by 8 years old. He was touring Europe in his childhood. He came from.a musical family, but his talented sister wasn't able to showcase her talents after marriage and was held back due to being a female. By the time he died in his mid 30s, he had composed over 600 pieces. An enthralling read with the most detailed and colourful pictures. #mozart #littlepeoplebigdreams #mariaisabelsanchezvegara #netgalley

One of many short vignettes of people from history as well as the present whom children might get to know as well as those who read with them.
Wolfgang was a child prodigy and a musical genius who lived a long time ago. Although he died rather young, his musical compositions for piano and orchestra live on and remain very popular.
The illustrations by Lia Visirin are clear, colorful, and add much to the story.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Quarto Publishing Group/Frances Lincoln Children's Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

This is a terrific way to introduce young children to classical music by telling an interesting story and providing a series of informative bite-size chunks of knowledge about the life and musical genius of Mozart.

From the early emergence of his talent - and the pushing aside of his sister's gift simply because she was a girl - to some of the challenges that he faced in life, this is a focused and honest look at who Mozart was. And what he achieved. The text is nicely done and the illustrations are utterly delightful.

Another good biography by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. It didn't stand out from the rest of the series, but it covered the basics and the art was cute.

The latest edition of the Little People Big Dreams series covers composer Mozart.

Beautiful illustrations as always, however I felt the narrative itself wasn't quite as informative as previous books. It felt quite vague, and although it is aimed at children, I still don't feel there is enough interesting content to hold their attention.

Mozart, was my second book to enjoy from the Little People Big Dreams book series for children. It’s a super easy and quick read – FULL of facts (a few that I didn’t already know!) and gorgeous full color illustrations. I was given a digital advanced readers copy of Steve Irwin by Netgalley, Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and Frances Lincoln Children's Books in exchange for an honest review.

This is such a fantastic series for anyone who wants to find out more information in bite sized chunks about well known and influential people. They are perfect for children to read as well as for use in schools.
I didn’t know much about Mozart and was intrigued to read about how his life compared with his sister’s.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC of this title. This series is a good, engaging biography for younger students who aren’t ready to read the “who is/was” series.

This book serves as a nice introduction to Mozart for those who know little about him. The illustrations were well done, but the writing needed more depth... it just lacked something.

Thank you NetGalley, Quarto Publishing Group, and Frances Lincoln Children's Books for allowing me early access to the ARC ebook edition of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Who was Mozart?

From the series "Little people, big dreams": Mozart. The book tells the most interesting key facts of the life story of Mozart (and his sister!). On the few pages you can learn a lot (certainly not so well-known facts) about Mozart and his life. The illustrations are harmonious and warm. They have an inviting and atmospheric appearance.

Very well designed: writing style, fact selection and pictures.

I enjoyed the illustrations as they were well done and interesting. However I felt that the story itself was lacking a lot of information and was vague where it didn’t need to be.

My kids love the Little People, Big Dreams books for the very simple and approachable way they highlight notable historical figures, and Mozart is an especially awesome addition. The book goes into a lot of details about Mozart's early life, which I think makes it that much more relatable for young kids. There are also details about some of his most notable works and there is a lot of possibility to dig into more for further study. I highly recommend this book and many other from the Little People, Big Dreams series!

Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books via NetGalley for gifting my family with an ARC to review. We loved it!

I am usually a fan of the Little People Big Dreams series. However, this particular book seems rushed or not well proofread. The authors use keyboard, piano and harpsichord interchangeably. The way Mozart's life is presented it seemed to me the authors just went off the movie. One example: a "mysterious visitor" asks him to write the Requiem - what historical fact is this nugget based on? I am disappointed.

I received this book as an advanced reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for this honest review. Fans of the Little People, BIG DREAMS series will appreciate the newest addition, Mozart, which describes the little genius's early life and mentorship by his sister, Nannerl, as well as his life as a composer. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Mozart's lifestyle and debts were mentioned, along with his unfinished requiem. I read this with my child, who enjoyed the illustrations. 4/5 stars.
