I received an electronic ARC from Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books through NetGalley.
Sanchez Vegara is a master at creating these biographies for elementary level readers. This is her 105th book in the series. I appreciate the focus on Mozart's abilities and passion. Readers meet him as a young child and see how he developed his musical abilities. He was a master craftsman and wrote music in many genres. This is a bit of a sanitized version of his life for younger readers but offers a true look at the many adventures he had.

Absolutely adored this book! I huge part of my life is music. When I taught music at a school, we talked about Mozart quite a bit. So I knew a good bit about him before reading this, but with the pictures and other little tidbits I didn’t know, the story was exceptional!

The Little People, Big Dreams series is one of my favorites to read with my daughter. Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is able to perfectly summarize and convey the important facts of her subjects’ lives and this story of Mozart is no different. The text is engaging but simple enough for young readers and offers insights even parents familiar with Mozart may not have known. The charming illustrations by Lia Visirin highlight this telling of the musician’s life. This would be a wonderful addition to any child’s library, especially one interested in music!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

🎶 What’s not to love about these Little People, Big Dreams books!? I wish these books were available when I was a kid!

🎶 If you’ve read any Little People, Big Dreams books before, you are already aware that they are fabulously illustrated and informative books about a famous person’s life. This version about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is no exception. Young readers will learn about his life, of course, but I think they will be particularly impressed and inspired by his accomplishments at such a young age. And therein lies the beauty of these books – introducing children to famous and historical people and inspiring them as well!

🎶 The book includes paintings of Mozart and a brief summary biography of his life in the back matter.

🎶 If you have a child interested in piano or classical music you must have this book! Every elementary school should have this book in their classrooms as well, along with all the other Little People, Big Dreams books. I would have read these books over and over as a kid, and I’m sure kids today would appreciate them too!

Thank you @NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for an eARC of this book, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Dive into the world of classical music with the newest addition to the Little People, Big Dreams collection, a delightful biography that introduces young readers to the incredible life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Born in 1756 in Austria, Mozart's musical journey began at the tender age of three, and his story is one that continues to inspire musicians and music lovers alike.

The book paints a vivid picture of Mozart's early life, showcasing his innate talent as he mastered several instruments and began composing his own music. Inspired by his sister's abilities, little Wolfgang's passion for music led him to travel across Europe, playing for royal families and delighting audiences with his prodigious skills. The narrative doesn't shy away from the challenges he faced, such as his father's illness and the societal rules that affected his talented sister. Yet, it handles these aspects with grace and respect, making it suitable for its intended audience of 4-7-year-olds.

What truly sets this biography apart are the stunning illustrations that accompany the text. They are colorful, compelling, and perfectly in tune with the story, making it a visual treat for young readers. The book also touches on Mozart's flaws, such as his mismanagement of money, portraying him as a genius yet a very human figure. This balanced approach adds depth to the character and offers a more comprehensive understanding of who Mozart was.

This series continues to inspire the next generation of outstanding people, and this book is no exception. Whether you're a fan of the series or looking to introduce young children to the magic of following dreams and nurturing talents, this book about Mozart is a must-read.

I have read a few little people big dreams but felt this one lacked detail and I didn’t really learn loads about Mozart. I appreciate he did die at a young age but of what for example was missed.

This is another awesome book in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series for kids. In this book we are shown the life of Wolfgang Mozart, who was a famous classical musician and composer. We are taken back to when he was just three years old, where he copied his big sister when she was playing the keyboard. He eventually went on to travel around playing music for people, and even composing operas, and he became very well known all around the world.

This is a wonderful book, which is full of interesting facts and information, while being covered in beautiful, colourful illustrations, which children will love. I really enjoyed reading this book, and I highly recommend it.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

Another great title for the little people, Big Dreams collection.
Mozart’s biography is written in an appealing way for kids, and it is perfectly complemented with gorgeous illustrations.
The book celebrates Mozart’s brilliancy, focusing on his accomplishments and on the good parts of his life. It also mentions his sister talent and how her career ended, as she needed to fulfill the expected role of women.
Overall, a lovely and short biography, appropriate for all ages.

I would like to thank Frances Lincoln Children’s Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love this! I teach my third graders about Mozart every year and this will be an excellent resource. I love the timeline at the end! And the illustrations are beautiful!

The illustrations represent the time period well, and the story introduces kids to Mozart's life and explains why his music is historically significant. The ending feels abrupt, but this is very good overall, and it's much better than many other recent installments I've read from this series.

The author does a great job of representing Mozart's sister while still focusing on Mozart and not letting gender politics overwhelm the narrative. People who would like to learn more about the sister may enjoy the picture book biography "I Am Mozart, Too," by Audrey Ades.

I love books for children beacuse it has always an easy and funny way to teach some content that We use to take for granted as an adult beacuse We keep hearing about something without learn or search more deeply for the subject itself. Mozart is one of the greatest musicians of all History and every kid can learn a little bit about his work in this book, Aproved!

I visited Austria last year and learned so much about Mozart that I had never learned before. This book also taught me (and my young children) even more! It’s such an inspirational look at having unique avails ties and talents at a young age and how one can live their whole life working tirelessly towards their passions. I also loved the included details about Mozart’s equally talented sister and how she is lesser know because she was born a girl. Cannot wait to add this to our home library!

Mozart by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is a delightful children's book.
It's short enough to hold a child's attention but still manages to capture Mozart's incredible life.
It is factual and easy to read. It touches upon Mozart's talent from from a very young age, travelling to different countries, the influence of family members and pieces of music he composed.
The illustrations are perfect and make the topic more interesting and relatable to young readers.

I personally enjoyed this book and think it would be appropriate for children aged between 5-9.

An interesting read and a valid addition to the series. Child friendly, though perhaps needed a bit more detail to flesh it out. Thanks to Netgalley.

I love this series of biographies geared towards younger readers, but I didn’t find a learned much new or unexpected in this story. Maybe having been to Mozarts birthplace in Salzburg I already knew more than basics. Of course it covers him being a child genius in music encouraged by his musical father. But there seems to be limited specific details. Writes over 600 works, marries, debt and lives in Vienna. The illustrations are fun but if I didn’t read in the footnotes at the back I wouldn’t have realized Mozart was only 35 when he died. (The white haired wigs and drawings leave age to guessing.) Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children’s Books for the temporary ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.
