A very fun book that breaks down the fear that many people have of bees. Through colorful illustrations and creative text, this book provides factual information in a lighthearted way about how useful bees actually are. Not only is this a very creative idea for a book, it is also a joy to read. Kids will absolutely love this book!

We really enjoyed this book!

The book was packed full of facts and it was really informative – my 6 year old daughter loves learning and she was hooked by this book and went off to school the following morning to tell them what she had learnt the night before.

This would be an ideal book to have at primary schools as bees have a bad reputation with some from a young age as they don’t know enough about them and how important they are to us

It is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!

Well, in this sweet book, it's explained that being around bees can increase a person's risk to be stung, the bees themselves provide a necessary job for our world. They help keep our world beautiful and healthy.
After he hears all this, he's not quite so angry about his bee sting.
Cute illustrations help move the story along in a fun and informative way.
I enjoyed this book and would recommend to anyone who wants to learn more about bees and who simply like them.

Fantastic. Loved everything about the book: story, illustrations, presentation, and purpose.

The story begins written from the eyes of a child who was stung. The boy soon learns the antennae, hairs, eyes, etc., of the honeybee. In addition, the author sprinkles facts throughout (lifespan is one). While the child (or in this case, me) is engrossed in the facts, the science of bees is gently explained. Frankel makes pollen sound interesting.

The illustrations are simple, yet bright. They balance the story: a grimacing child is seen while reading about his discomfort.

Frankel also chose to have a family member (aunt) be the beekeeper. I liked that aspect of the story. It made it more personal.

The purpose of bees is clearly pointed out in an informative age appropriate (any) manner.

I would gift this and suggest it be in a babysitters arsenal.

This is such a fascinating read, children are not only learning about bees and how important they are but they have the chance to learn that bees are not out to sting and hurt us. The illustrations are cute and fun. They are always a great addition to stories to help the readers follow along with the story.

What a super cute book that teaches kids all about honey bees while telling an interesting story and it also has great illustrations. Bennie gets stung by a bee and is very unhappy until his aunt starts explaining to him all of the things honey bees do for us that are good. I really liked the end with the facts about bees and more fantastic illustrations.

I read this to my daughter who just had her first bee sting recently. We also keep bees, so we’re around them all the time! I learned a lot even though I probably know more than the average person. So it was packed with facts!

I love that the story started with a bee sting because that’s the normal progression of this conversation with kids. However, hopefully this book will inspire parents to talk about honeybees with their kids earlier and not wait until they get stung.

Just like the boy in this book, I tend to steer clear of bees thinking they will sting me. The ebook version didn’t show page 14 correctly or maybe part of a sentence got cut off.

This was a good book for me to read to my daughter because I am afraid of bees (due to allergy) and I’m trying to help her not be afraid. We liked learning about all the things honey bees do!

This is an adorable, educational, and humorous book. Bennie hates bees after getting stung my one, but he learns many interesting things throughout the day from his Aunt Beatrice. I learned a lot myself. I highly recommend this for classrooms.

Bennie is upset after being stung by a bee. Which is understandable, because he is allergic! But his aunt Beatrice is a beekeeper. So she takes him for a walk.

While they are outdoors, Bennie's aunt take pains to explain the many, many ways in which bees contribute to human life, and how miraculous they are - from their special stomach for nectar, to the way in which they communicate with each other through a series of dances, including the intriguingly named waggele dance!

This is definitely an excellent book to share with young kids, to give them a better understanding of and appreciation for bees. Something that is particularly important in the current era, when they are becoming endangered. Particularly since that, by extension, endangers pollination and the security of human life. So this is a really important little book.

Overall cute book. Would be perfect for a classroom or homeschooling. It is a little choppy in some places, but the content was good & potentially will help kids understand that all animals/insects do have a purpose!
