Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht, wie ich dieses Buch bewerten soll, da ich es aufgrund relativ kurzer Ausleihdauer (ohne Verlängerung) nicht lesen konnte.
This was a great book. I connected with the characters. I felt engrossed with the plot. I would read another book by this author.
This book was the perfect quick and uplifting read.
I love reading anything set in Wales and I feel the author did it justice.
It was uplifting, enjoyable and I hope the author will write more in the setting. The characters were likeable and easy to gel with, this really absorbed you into the plot.
Amy is housesitting for her aunt, Drew is back and forth taking care of his father. The miscommunication between them and the friendships built create this story. I love the setting in the Welsh country and enjoy the characters and their growth. This is the first book by Sally E. Morgan that I have read and I look forward to reading more.
I was hooked from the beginning. Really enjoyed this book, sometimes life has a way of sorting things out when you think all hope is lost. If you want a good read where you can escape daily life this is one to read.
The characters were enjoyable to read about in a lovely Welsh setting. There were a few miscommunications which were annoying but i suppose they were there to add drama/tension
Overall an enjoyable quick romance read.
I unfortunately DNFed the book at about 15%. But within that 15% there were grammatical errors as well as typos.
I needed a book like this that brought me away in time and space. Well plotted, cute and entertaining.
I want to read other books by this author
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I received this book from NetGalley.
Amy seems likeable enough at first but I don't appreciate how she doesn't care that Simon has a girlfriend. Just because he doesn't seem to care doesn't make it okay for her to still go out with him. Later, however, she gets annoyed when she sees Steph at Drew's house - how is that any different?
Yes, Drew messed up by assuming Amy was using him and his father. However, he immediately tried to apologise and she couldn't even hear him out enough to talk about it. This annoys me in stories.
However, overall this was a feel good story with a happy ending and very likeable characters. I like that even though there were a few annoying misunderstandings, they didn't drag on.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a pleasant, cozy book that I really enjoyed!
Set on the borders between Wales and England, this is a very good read and a good all rounder. 5 stars
Thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for this ARC
Amy is recovering from a bad break uo, currently homeless she agrees to look after her Aunts Cottage in Wales while she visits New Zealand.
Andrew is stuck between his architecture business and his family farm currently run by his ailing father.
Through a dog called hamburger they meet but it's more hate at first site rather than love.
Both of them are wary of a new relationship but they keep being drawn together. But can they leave the past and face a future together.
This was a great book with lovely characters, you could even imagine the snow drifts.
Definitely worth a read.
Amy is housesitting for her aunt. she meets up with Andrew and they start a friendship, will it turn into something more? lovely setting.
This to me was not a heartwarming romance. The main romance wasn’t even a romance to me. There was so much wrong with both characters that they made no sense together.
This was dual pov but when it switched to each character the events would be told all over again. It was a lot of repetition.
There also wasn’t much character building or growth. Both main characters needed therapy. Amy had broken things off with her ex because he cheated but then she goes and tries to date Simon even tho he had a girlfriend and she says “Why should I let his having a girlfriend put me off?” That was so immature and disgusting. She had no self worth and accepted the bare minimum with Drew. There was one scene where Drew opened the door for her and she literally said “so this is what it’s like being treaded as if I mattered” whatttttttt the heck.. Drew wasn’t a great guy. He yelled at her for jumping to conclusions and he was always wrong. He’s 40 acting like a teenager!!!
The only thing I really liked was the side characters love story. Gwen and Drew’s dad were cute together.
Amy moves to her aunts cottage in a small town for a few months to save up for a place of her own after a breakup. Andrew is coming and going every weekend to take care of his dad after a stroke. It sounds very cute! They live in a small cozy town where everyone knows everyone.
I had high expectations from this book because of the premise.
Sadly, the writing style didn’t agree with me. It’s dual pov but rather than add anything to the story, it repeated the exact same event. Just from the other’s view.
The relationship between Amy and Andrew didn’t feel real to me. They went on one date and spent the rest of the time arguing and misunderstanding. Somehow they still get engaged by the end of the book. Which is not even a full year after Amy moves to town.
I didn’t agree with Amy’s choices and felt upset with her. In the very beginning she admits to a fear of dogs. And yet she was all friendly with Andrew’s new sheepdog giving him biscuits. Then she got upset when he told her off for it because they were chocolate.
SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT
And then when she started being interested in a guy, she soon found out that he already had a girlfriend. But she still wanted to go for it saying ‘alls fair in love and war’ as if her last relationship didn’t end because of cheating.
She wasn’t even dating Drew but got upset and wouldn’t listen because Steph was at his house!
A sweet story about Amy and Drew. Amy is house sitting her aunts house after a nasty breakup. She is loving the rural, quiet life in a small town in the country. Drew is a neighbor who is trying to take care of his elderly father, who had a stroke.
I very much liked the setting; the small community where life seems simple and quiet and people know each others’ business, but they take care of each other and have a close-knit community. Amy is really sweet, she is very much enjoying this life and gets settled there quickly. Drew is an architect. He comes across as withdrawn and he’s sometimes rude, but luckily he acknowledges this and tries to make up for it.
I felt the pace was a bit slow, it really takes a bit of time before you’re invested in the plots, which keep you wondering how this will pan out. It’s a lovely story, recommended to read outside in the sun with some tea and the imagination of you being there as well!
Thank you Netgalley, Sally E. Morgan and BooksGoSocial for providing an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was a very cosy read, I loved the story's setting and the author's way of depicting the serene and gorgeous village/farm/cottage life!! Many of the small-town vibes and everybody knowing each other and their business reminded me of the close-knit community from Gilmore Girls, a show that I enjoy. The two main characters, Amy and Andrew, were grumpy/sunshine trope which I adore reading about! Amy is the sunshine and Andrew is the grumpy, but inevitably he warms up in her presence. The twists were nice and I liked that each character had depth with their past relationship experiences. While I felt so cosy reading this, the writing style was overall not my favorite. It felt a bit jumpy to me at times and the timeline was confusing. There would be scene changes and time jumps within a sentence of each other and no indication of it happening, I felt as though I was just guessing the scenery and plot at times. I also felt that it could have been longer. There was so much room for more detail to be added, it just felt rushed.
To begin my review, I will say I enjoyed this as a palette cleanser book after reading quite a few thrillers recently. I think that the story line was pretty cute.
However, I had a lot of issues with the writing itself. There were quite a lot of errors in the edition that I received and there were at least two different font sizes being used throughout the book (which may have just been the ARC that I received but I did want to mention it). The chapters can feel a bit choppy as the author will randomly have a jump in the timeline, but it isn't super obvious how much time has gone by. It doesn't feel as though it flows very well. At one point, Amy is talking to Mr. Giles and after asking him a question, the timeline jumps forward, with no response given to the question. This happens another one or two times in the book. The transitions I feel could be smoother.
I also didn't love that when the POV's switched, it would be a recounting of the exact same event that happened to the other character. I don't always think this is a bad thing, but in this case it happened a bit too often and with no dramatic differences in the two POV's.
In the end, I felt just "meh".
I’m not going to lie I was drawn to this book because of its cover, but I stayed for the story. It was cute and lighthearted read, the perfect book to read in between heavy ones. I loved the overall vibe of the story, it was just a feel-good story.
This book was a good palette cleanser between books. It was a bit of a slower burn although I would say that it felt like maybe there was a little too much plot squeezed into such a small book which made some of the storylines feel a little incomplete or rushed.
Still a decently solid read. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC
