A cutesy rom com perfect for a rainy day. As a sucker for the enemies to lovers trope, this was an easy read for me. I wouldn’t say there is anything particularly special about this book, it was a fun read to escape from reality, not something to get you thinking. But truly sometimes we need a good romance to escape our real worlds.
Honestly this hooked me right in seeing as how I love a best friends brother type romance. Loved the banter and spice they had going on. In general everything was very cute and I enjoyed how everything played out. In the beginning, I wasn't sure how Aiden & Liv would end up together but once it hit that rain scene it made more sense. But if you are looking for a nice cute read with a minimal amount of spice then I would definitely suggest giving this book a try!
- would also like to say that I downloaded this book because of the amazing cover!!! Definitely an attention grabber for us romance readers :)
This sadly wasn’t it for me. I didnt feel the connection between the two characters and I wasn’t rooting for them like I normally do
5/5 stars! I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down. I finished reading it in one day. This if the first book I’ve read by Victoria Walter’s and I am looking forward to reading her other books. This book is released February 12, 2024. Thank you to Boldwood Books, Victoria Walters and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book.
I think this may be more of a 4.5, but I'm rounding up since there's no 1/2 stars. I can't pinpoint what I would need for that 1/2 star though. This was an excellent book. A classic enemies/frenemies to lovers with excellent film and book references. Aiden and Olivia are always bickering and going back and forth, but there's clearly chemistry and they can't help but to smile while they do it. Sometimes their barbs hit a bit deep and they both clearly realize it and feel badly about it. You don't always get that in this trope. Dan and Theo is a great side story and Stevie is a great friend and shoulder to lean on.
I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. I read it in one day, I just couldn't put it down. Such a sweet story and I love the message of chasing your dreams that runs for several characters throughout the story!
I grabbed The Love Interest on NetGalley because the cover was so cute and I loved the idea of a romance author looking for inspiration for her novel's love interest in her brother's annoying best friend. I got started and MAN was Aiden annoying; I had a really hard time understanding how he was going to eventually win Olivia's heart. I ended up really liking their journey and I was hooked right up until the very end. The banter was great, the spice was fun and they ended up being really cute together. All that said, I found Aiden the enemy and Aiden the lover to be almost two different characters. I think he was TOO obnoxious in the beginning - I can't see the character I had gotten to know by the end acting that way. I love to see a little bit more subtle "enemy" behavior at the beginning of an enemies to lovers - where I could go back and read it later and see that he was actually into Olivia the whole time and that she had misinterpreted some of his comments. Instead, the Aiden in the first 20% of the book is such a jerk I barely made it through because I couldn't imagine he was going to turn it around. I am glad I pushed through because I really enjoyed the rest of this novel! If you are willing to push through the first 10 or so chapters, and love a romance that's a bit corny (I'm looking at you Mr Darcy), I think you will have alot of fun reading this book!
Okay so starting this novel I was really into it! Aiden reminded me so much of one of my favorite book boyfriends (AKA ✨jacks✨from once upon a broken heart… If he was Irish… and existed in a non fantasy world). I also found the story of liv and aiden to be so cute but overall I just found this book to be Okay. I think after 30% in I was a bit bored and kind of wanted more to happen. I liked it, just wasn’t my favorite!
This book was a cute and fun read! I enjoyed each of the characters as well as the love story that unfolded. It was easy to relate to Liv as a character and root for her and Aiden's happy ending. The tension that was built between the two was palpable, and they had me giggling and kicking my feet throughout the novel! If you enjoy enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and Mr. Darcy I would highly recommend giving this book a read.
